“So, for KFC, this was a pretty decent experience. The girl who helped me was extremely kind and patient, and maybe I was just lucky that I was helped by someone who had that particular demeanor. She made the pickup order easy even though I can sometimes be a little difficult. She had a lot of patience, and I asked her to do things that weren't out of the ordinary, but she had enough patience to deal with my shortcomings. Since it was a pickup order and I ate at home, I thought the chicken was a little bit on the dry side. I don't know how fresh it was when I picked it up at the store, but I can only imagine it wasn't that old. Otherwise, everything was decent enough, as I said for KFC, and I'll probably go back when I've decided I want some more Fried Chicken.

Parking: This is New York City and as most New Yorkers are aware there's basically only street parking in some areas which is what is available in this area next to this particular store unless there was something close by or a parking lot that I was unaware of.“

“Amazing elevated chicken. It's not just chicken, however. Oysters were superb. Salads (the scallion salad is an absolute delight) and all the sides are just superior. Little touches that seem whimsical but are just spot on - try the 24 carat nugget with caviar. Excellent star-studded champagne list; why not? Staff were just exceptional. Special shout out to the sommelier who came by and spent time even though we didn't buy a killer bottle of bubbly. We will return.“

So we got a bucket of mixed chicken, two sides of Mac and cheese, and some collard greens (they make them with black eyed peas and tomatoes; totally different from any kind of greens I ever had and I definitely was left craving more. “Food is always great but its been about 7 times that I have went and the fried chicken has run out, and it takes 15-20 minutes for it to cook. I feel like they need to better manage the timing. Once they see that the chicken on display is half gone, they should already start frying a new batch instead of waiting for the last min where there's less than 10 pieces for them to now start frying the new batch. Also they have a limit on breast they fried in each batch. So if the few pieces are gone, you will now have to wait for the new batch to fry and that can take over 45 mins, especially if they are not ready to fry a batch. Other than that, the food is great and the staff are also very friendly.“

“I was in the Penn Station area today and had a craving for fried chicken. Initially, I was thinking about going to a certain Filipino fried chicken chain, but after checking the ratings, Pollo Camino came out on top. They’ve recently opened a new branch near Penn Station, but I ended up visiting their 8th Ave location instead — a small, single-storefront shop with a simple interior.

I ordered the fried chicken set for $9.99, which came with two pieces of chicken, a piece of bread, one side, and a drink for an extra $1.
• Drink: I went with their Horchata, made with peanuts and vanilla ,milk, without the cinnamon and rice I’m used to. It had a nice aroma, refreshing, and a bit different — in a good way.
• Side: I chose yuca fries, served in large sticks. The inside was dense than potato, with a lightly crisp exterior. Personally, I wasn’t a fan — I’d say skip this and go for another side.
• Fried Chicken: Lightly battered with a noticeable blend of spices and herbs. The meat was tender, while the skin wasn’t the super-crispy kind you’d get from those well-known Louisiana or Kentucky-style chains. Flavor was solid, but here’s an important tip — just like with many fried chicken places, don’t let it sit too long. Once it cools, the saltiness becomes much more pronounced.

Service gets a full 5 stars in the fast-food category — no self-service pick-up here, they bring your food right to the table.

Overall, Pollo Camino is worth trying if you’re around Penn Station. The price is fair, the chicken is flavorful, but choose your side wisely and eat it while it’s hot. Next time I’ll try a competitor for comparison, but for now, my top spot still belongs to Louisiana chain.“

“Solid fried chicken sandwich in a classic dive bar. I haven’t actually been in many dive bars, but when you walk into this place, it’s almost pitch black and you can’t see anything. The atmosphere is a little bit grungy, and you have to read some signs to figure out that you need to order out the counter. When we went on a Saturday for lunch, there was no one behind the counter and it turns out the worker was someone who I actually thought was dining at the restaurants since they were eating their hashbrowns next to everyone else. The chicken sandwich is enormous and takes up much more than the surface area of a single bun, but I liked it a lot, especially when you add the different sauces and mayo they provide. Would come back and try some other stuff too. Very cute back patio.“
