“I ran in to grab a quick lunch and didn’t realize I didn’t have enough money or my atm card. They graciously offered to give me the drink anyway and get them the next time. Great customer service!“

“This spot is 12/10 my favorite place in the area. I recently moved to Jersey City however when I’m in the area, I make it a point to grab food from here specifically! The staff is so hardworking and nice. They always have a smile on their face and welcome any questions you may have. Love this place and you will too!“

“The green curry is absolutely phenomenal. I ordered takeout for the first time last week, and it was so good that I had to come in and experience it in person. Highly recommend the lychee Earl Grey tea and the Thai tea as well, both were delicious!“

“I ordered the curry goat meal and the cow foot meal on UberEats. Unfortunately, they were out of cow foot but the food exceeded my expectations. I've ordered curry goat from Golden Krust and other restaurants and have been consistently disappointed. THIS is the one I've been looking for 👌🏾 The meat was tender, delicious and had the perfect amount of spice to it (not too much but not too little either) The rice and peas & veggies were perfection as well. Will definitely order from here again.“

“My husband and I are checking off the top 10 East Harlem eateries. The Earls beer and cheese is ranked #5. Their drink and food met lol our high expectations. We had blackberry hard cider and BBQ brisket taco
The Back to Back - fried chicken breast in buffalo sauce with French fries. The services were very outstanding and food were delicious. The place were filled with professionals and rather quite. The back room was very cool👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼“

“I want to say this place was great in food, vibes, and coziness. This is a great definition of a mom and pop restaurant.
Firstly the food.
I had the bulgogi bento. The bulgogi looked, smelled, and tasted amazing. It had the normal bulgogi flavor with that nice hit of smokiness almost like wokhay from Chinese cooking. I loved each bite as the smokiness hit my mouth and nose. The sides of the bento was good too, the dumplings were nice and crunchy with a nice but just a tad bit bland filling, tho to be fair the filling is fairly standard for korean dumplings. The kimichi is what I prefer, which is the more freshly made kind. And the rice was cooked as I expected from a Korean restaurant, which is good. The salads were fine again its a salad, but it was nice that they added kale to the salad adding this bit of variety. The salad dressing was sweet and a bit tangy, mostly sweet which I do like since I have a sweet tooth.
The other bento was the shrimp tempura, I did get one of the shrimp tempura and it was good. The crunchy and breading was nice and you had the shrimp flavor that was still there.
Finally the tteokbokki. It was great. The rice cakes were chewy and soft and the fish cakes were soft and not mushy. The flavor of the sauce was great too, it had this nice umami to it and was the perfect level of spicy to enjoy.
The price for the food was also reasonable. Both bento costed roughly $18 each and the tteokbokki costed $12. They also had an interesting line up of drinks that was nice.
All this aside I want to also note how cozy and welcoming it felt. The lady that was serving us was very kind and caring. She even asked about how the addition of kale to the salad was because it was a new addition that they changed because people liked kale. I really liked that attention to detail. The store was medium sized with some odds and ends here and there but that added to the charm of the place.
I went on a Thursday during lunch time and it had a good amount of business via pick up but I was there alone with the person I was with dining in.
Overall as a Korean I think this place hits better then certain places in mind the food was good and the atmosphere was comforting.
I do regret not trying some of the other menu items I guess I have to return for some more.
For the sake of Google reviews I gave everything a 5. My personal score may be closer to a 4.4 which is high for my own personal score“

“The tea room is a very welcome addition to the neighborhood - warm ambiance (remote work friendly), good coffee, wide array of classic and Irish reads, and a rotation of hosted activities (family events, seisiuns, etc.). Menu also offers quality and creativity - the dublin dumplings were excellent.“

“My husband and I came here to eat one night to try Guatemalan food for the first time and then we came back the next 2 days in a row. We even ordered takeout to bring to my Colombian in-laws. The food here is fresh, delicious and full of flavor like eating at my Guatemalan mom’s house (if I had a Guatemalan mom pero soy Koreana y pues no tengo una mama Guatemalteca). Some complained about a wait in older reviews but good food takes time to prepare and not everything in life is made at a microwave’s pace.
The fried chicken is the best fried chicken my husband and I have eaten. Wonderfully seasoned, crispy skin with moist meat. The papas fritas (fried potatoes, think steak fries but not exactly French fries) are super yummy, fluffy and silky on the inside. The sopa de pata (cow foot soup) is delectably nutritious. The flavorful broth has joint pieces of the lower cow leg/hoof area and chunks of carrot, potato or yucca (don’t remember), chayote (I think) and some cabbage leaves.
The gallina en salsa (stewed hen) is skin on pieces of hen cooked in a mellow but flavorful tomato type sauce. It comes with rice and salad. The portions are generous and filling and platters come with a side of tortillas that are freshly made and delicious.
The sopa de gallina (chicken/hen soup) is delicious. The broth is flavorful and has chunky veg like carrots, chayote, cabbage leaves and I think yucca. Served with rice and avocado slices. Yum!
Forget love but if you even like yourself, do yourself a solid and order the tostadas con salsa y frijoles (crunchy flat round tortilla chip the size of your hand) that has a layer of black beans topped with a little bit of tomato type salsa (not chunky) and then fresh slices of onion and sprinkles of fresh Guatemalan cheese. We ordered this each time we went and will continue to do so too!
If you’re bashful about trying new things or just love grilled meats order the parillada (mixed grill). It’s a generous platter with rice, tasty black beans, grilled steak, grilled chicken and chorizo (sausage) that’s all perfectly grilled and seasoned and you get a side of salad (either macaroni or fresh veg salad). So good. We’d easily get this again. The flavors are incredible.
Try La Estancia. It’s located on the corner of Palisade Ave. directly across from the Sunoco gas station and has it’s own small parking lot or you can find street parking. Be prepared to have good food but don’t be in a hurried rush and keep an open mind so you can go to Guatemala if only through the food.

“I couldn’t believe how great the food was. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. In addition the atmosphere was wonderful and our server Andrew In Hackensack NJ was such a delight. He totally paid attention to my nut allergy and had the manager bring my meal out to ensure it was nut free. We are definitely going back! 😃“

“If you have a taste, for some great home cooking, make your way to Maggie's! A small family run joint, where the food is made with soul and love! The meatloaf, yams and greens, are crave worthy and the cabbage, mac n cheese and ribs will make you wish you bought more! I have eaten Soul Food, from way South to NYC, in homes and restaurants and Maggie's rates up there with some of the most delicious, I've had. As they say down South, "they put their feet in that food"!!!“
