11 Best Craft Breweries near Youngstown

Griffon Brewing Brewery •
200 Lockport St, Youngstown

“Here you are..in Youngstown NY..a two block downtown, what to do? what to do.? Plenty. Head over to the Griffon for a scrumptious pizza, some great tidbits and yummy goods to eat and brews to drink. Then, cuddle up to your bartender/server and ask them -- what's up in Y-town? You'll find that for a small village, there is some great shopping, weekend music at several nearby venues, alot of history and great scenery, a State Park, a camp grounds (4 mile creek), fishing, boating, hiking and Sanger Farms for fruit sampling, picking, an entire (somewhat haunted) Fort (Old Fort Niagara), a spa, a local diner, a gym or two, and a great Bistro café style market. Just ask. It's a great restaurant brewery, BTW, amd the people who run it are awesome friendly folks.“

Niagara College Teaching Brewery Brewery • $

“Hands down, one of the finest craft breweries in North America. I have been a fan since they started their degree program in 2010. It has been a pleasure to follow their graduates as they move to prominent breweries in Canada and beyond. They have a permanent lineup of core beers that represent major lagers and ales from around the world. My favourite is their Strong Ale 101, a classic Scotch Ale. Most interesting to me are the small batch beers brewed by the students. The creativity and quality are extraordinary. A recent roster included 2 German Kolsch variants, a peach ale, a stylized Belgian Brown ale and a German Dunkelweizen. In the past, students released English spiced winter ales and the best Hefeweizen brewed outside Germany that I have ever tasted. Their Growler Club is a bargain. For the past 5 years or so, I convinced my family to spring for a membership to celebrate my birthday and Fathers Day. Free seminars, discounted merch, free tastings and 1 complimentary growler fill per month! Plus a free excuse to visit once a month to sample the exclusive Growler Club brew. They are currently shut down because of the Pandemic, but I encourage beer afficionados in Ontario to sample their wares by placing a phone order. Shipping is free or nominal in Ontario. Just to show my continued support, I actually made the 2+ hour round trip yesterday to pick up a case of assorted beers. Their seminars have transitioned to a Zoom based format. You can even sample along with the speaker by ordering the target beers for each session. Moderated by master brewers on staff, they are well worth attending.“

“We visited here yesterday, just before going to the show and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Good selection of brews on tap, across the spectrum of styles. They also had a very nice selection of one off sours, in bottles, to sell. The bartender was very friendly and helpful. We learned a lot while chatting with him. We loved the clean, modern look of the bar area. We did not get upstairs to the patio, but we will do that next time. What a great place. We will definitely return.“

“This place is a true gem. There is something for everyone in this amazingly diverse, freshly made, and uniquely crafted culinary experience. Tonight, I requested a menu item that had been tweaked, as they constantly evolve their offerings to keep new and exciting dishes at the forefront. When I asked for it, they didn’t hesitate or give the usual “not sure we can” response—which would have been understandable, especially since the place was packed. Instead, I was assured they would do their best, and if it couldn’t be made, it would be personally explained to me. Adrienne, who made this possible and is essentially the director of the restaurant, bars, and lounge—a demanding role, especially on a busy day—went above and beyond, and I am so thankful to her. The dish was fantastically prepared, and I deeply appreciate both the food and the service. Bradley and others also stopped by to say hello and see if there was anything else they could help with. Truly top-tier in every way. Eating here feels like choosing to stay at a five-star hotel in NYC—exceptional, thoughtful, and memorable. Thank you so much to Adrienne and her entire staff“
