“4.56 rounded up My mom and I originally came here thinking it was more of a carry out taco shop. However, when I ran in to pick up carryout menus, this was clearly a restaurant with a full bar, plenty of table seating, and also provided carryout. It immediately struck me as feeling very clean. Sure enough, their Yelp health score was 100 out of 100. We were definitely game for trying it. My mom and I went inside and selected a comfortable booth. The decor is bright and inviting, though the theme appeared to be wrestling, which played on the TVs. The sound was turned down or muted but it was still somewhat distracting. We were promptly greeted by our server and ordered small margaritas on the rocks, the traditional house variety. They were okay- not great and not horrible- but nothing that made either of us want to order another. Tortilla chips and salsa were promptly placed on the table and the salsa was beyond amazing! It was clearly homemade with the perfect blend of ingredients that were agreeable to my mom, who generally prefers hot sauce, and to me, who would normally prefer a milder salsa. Not sure how they satisfied both pallets but they did. Wish they sold a bottled version of the salsa, and yet it was the homemade preservative free freshness that made it so delicious! For entrees, my mom ordered a breaded cod burrito with cabbage and tomatoes within the burrito. I ordered a pollo (chicken) burrito bowl. It could be ordered with avacado sauce (avocado and sour cream) and came with rice, lettuce, black beans, chicken and cheese. This restaurant is very authentic and there is a bit of a language barrier. I ordered my burrito bowl without the avocado sauce and ordered a side of chunky guacamole to share with my mom instead. My bowl arrived with the blend of avocado sauce and sour cream and I just rolled with it. It was still delicious, though I would have preferred it less creamy. The portions are huge so we ended up taking a lot of food home in to-go containers. My mom found the guacamole bland for her taste but I loved it. Interestingly, there no salt or pepper shakers on the table, and we didn't ask. My burrito bowl heated up nicely in the microwave for a few more meals and snacks. The salsa and guacamole were still delicious two days later. My mom, however, found her cod burrito best the first day when ordered. Upon heating it in the microwave, she was disappointed to find that it was less tasty and seemed more like fish sticks you might find at a grocery store. She still ate it though would probably order something else next time. Overall, our experience was extremely positive, despite disappointing margaritas, mild ordering misunderstanding, and a cod burrito that didn't heat up as well as leftovers. I would definitely return and be sure to clearly communicate any special orders. Absolutely enjoy the tortilla chips with salsa! This spot is very clean with so many delicious options within a colorful, upbeat ambiance. Highly recommend!“

“This place is AMAZING. Food is so well thought out (great variety of seafood dishes) and the drinks are fresh and delicious. Nothing like it in Toledo. I would highly recommend making a reservation as the place is small. Although my favorite spot is the bar, with Tim and Tom. The staff is great, knowledgeable, friendly, and fun to watch.“

“Growing up on the West Coast it's been a struggle to find a good Mexican place in Toledo. This is the jam! Quesabirria taco was delightful. Consume had the exact amount of flavor which complimented the taco perfectly. Additionally, I ordered three tacos. One pastor, carnitas, and asada. Every protein choice was so flavorful and perfectly cooked. These tacos sing! The sauces were amazing as well!! Highly recommend!!“

“This place seems like a small family run business and these people are absolutely killing it. My favorite thing is carne asada street tacos(I've reviewed like every street taco I've seen from Miami to Detroit) and these are definitely top 10 if not top 3. The whole taco is great but what really sets them apart is they give u lemons instead of limes. That really just changes it up and actually makes me CHOOSE to go out of my way and go here instead of San Marcos right by my house. Oh, yeah, today I forgot to order birria to dip in, definitely try their birria consume, it's 1000x worth it.“

“This has become one of my favorite restaurants to go when I’m craving Mexican food and want to easily find the vegan dishes. The service is always fast and friendly! The food is always delicious and the atmosphere is fantastic! The vegan quesabirria tacos quickly became my favorite dish when they were introduced to the menu.Dietary restrictions: They have a completely vegan portion of the menu.“

“I'm on a mission to shout out about this restaurant. The prices are a little high in my opinion, but... (1) the food is worth it, and (2) I am spoiled by the prices in Detroit's Mexicantown, where there is a lot more competition for Mexican food. Mi novio, quien es de Jalisco, México, le gusta mucho la comida de El Tajín. So if Oscar says it's good food, I KNOW it's good, authentic Mexican food. The elote is TO. DIE. FOR In my humble opinion. If you want really great Mexican food in the Toledo area, I cannot recommend this place enough. Try street taco Thursdays ($2 street tacos) if you're skeptical, because at $2 a taco you can't lose. “Best Mexican In Toledo & Currently My Favorite Restaurant in Northwest Ohio! I live within walking distance to this place and have become a regular here. The food is consistently a 10/10. Always hot & fresh. I get the street tacos or Taquitos Mexicanos. The drinks are always made right and are well worth the price. Try the Cantarito or the Banana Margarita (I know this one sounds weird but trust me). They always have specials decorated on their board. The Bartender Yami makes us feel at home and when we don’t sit bar side the service is still 10/10! Sitting back and just observing the work flow you will notice the staff here works together well as a unit. They are extremely efficient and appear to enjoy their jobs. Before this place I enjoyed another close by Mexican restaurant and unfortunately they were not consistent at quality or service so I am truly grateful to have El Viejon in my neighborhood. Love this place and the food. Highly recommend. Oh I can’t forget..the desserts are incredible too. Try a tres leches cake!“

“I rate everything a 5/5 from the food, the customer service, and the atmosphere. I got the Birra tacos and they were sooooo good... some of the best Birra tacos I ever had. I also got regular mango margarita.. it was so strong I couldn't finish it all lol. I came alone just to get out of the house for a minute, it was my first time there...my waiter was patient with me & kept coming by to check on me and a few other employees did too. “I cannot recommend this restaurant enough! From the awesome owner Fernando, to the unbelievably tasty authentic mexican food, it’s great all around. They have MULTIPLE daily deals too which is awesome. Inside they have plenty of large photos of menu items too if you need help deciding or are curious. I haven’t tried another mexican restaurant in over a year tbh and don’t know if i’ll ever need to. If you are looking for a quick authentic take out dinner, this is the best there is around Toledo, they NEVER miss. They also have some small inside seating and tables that are always very clean if you are looking to sit down and eat.“

“I got my food within 5-8 minutes of ordering, Fastest ever, Clean friendly restaurant. Everybody in our party enjoyed their food. The Guacamole was so fresh! I got some to go. The interior while small in area, is decorated brightly and really sets a fun mood to dine here. Their sister El Arena next door has the same fun atmosphere.The food is delicious and comes out quick. I'm usually not a fan of shredded meats in my Mexican food (carnitas/barbacoa) but whatever they're doing here is amazing and I'll get the carnitas special whenever it's up.“

“Solid Taco Truck (trailer). Ordered the Special (steak & chorizo) and two tamales. Everything was flavorful and fresh. Service was quick and they were friendly.Only thing I could say is I wish they had a social media presence so I could know when they are there and hours.“

“Fantastic, authentic, Mexican food. The prices are reasonable, flavors are outstanding, and the people working there are super friendly. Been many times when they were on Woodville Road. Then, one day, it vanished. I was gutted. Then, while driving down Broadway, I saw their sign ( just past Western Ave.). I immediately turned around and went in. Sure enough, they moved. Same people, same food, in a larger building. My family loves it here. This is our go-to Mexican place. This is AUTHENTIC Mexican food. If you're expecting Taco Bell type fare, it will not be what you're expecting. But it is far better. If you haven't been, give it a try. You won't be disappointed. The menu is in Spanish and English. Highly recommend the Tortas, barbacoa, and tamales. (If they have any, they sell out regularly.)Kid-friendliness: Kids menu is great. And the servers are always friendly with the kids, teaching them Spanish and joking with them.“

“If you are coming here for a good margarita this IS NOT the place. The waitress informed us that the 1/2 pitcher margarita was on special tonight for $15. We ordered and the waitress said that the flavor we picked wasn't available in the special. Okay, no big deal, so we picked mango. I've had a lot of margarita's in my day and this has to be the worst I've ever had. It was so syrupy, tasted like chlorine and had a foul bitter/sour taste to it. You could see all of the syrup floating on top of it. My husband took a drink and agreed it was just awful. I told my husband I was going to say something to the waitress, understanding however that it's not her fault. When she came back to the table I said that the margarita was not edible and to please remove it from our bill. She said no problem. She then came back and said because it's alcohol that they cannot refund us. She suggested the strawberry instead, at this point I'm irritated and said I would prefer a refund as I figured the strawberry likely was going to be the same. Sure enough she came back with the strawberry and it has the same chemical, syrupy, bitter taste. The waitress did not come back to the table only to ask us if we wanted a box and to give us our bill. Over $60 for two tacos, queso, guacamole, and a burrito. I will never go back. Do yourself a favor and just don't!“

“We visit Mi Hacienda once a week for their lunch buffet ( even on Sundays). The food is always fresh and very tasty from the steak to the queso to the guac. The service is always friendly and attentive but not annoying. Their chips and salsa are the best I have had in this area. It is worth th drive to the one on Glanzman Road in Toledo!!!“

“The Lucky Dog Cafe is right off the bike trail ! You order inside and then find a seat inside or outside. There was complimentary water for humans and complimentary water outside for dogs. The peanut Thai wrap was very good and the jumbo burrito was good and indeed jumbo ! The restaurant was trendy and clean . The service was good as well! There are a few more menu items I would like to try next time we are in town.“

“I visited their food truck at the Toledo Craftsman Guild's Craft Show. Ordered a tostada and nachos. The food was amazing! Not only was it delicious, but they were very generous on the servings. “The staff was very welcoming. The steak tacos were good but not great, very basic. I also got a new item, "Mexican corn on the cob," and it was interesting. My quest to find the same quality in NW Ohio came to an end when a co-worker recommended San Marcos on Broadway. The restaurant is attached to a decent grocery store. Service is always good at San Marcos on Broadway. Food, in my opinion, rates right up there with the authentic Mexican food found throughout Southern California. Decent portions sizes and adequately priced. Ambiance is great with all the vibrant colors found on the booths, tabletops, and large murals hand painted on the walls.“
