He was knowledgeable and friendly, consistent and attentive without being over bearing. James alone made the evening perfect. The food was spectacular (as always) but James going above and beyond made the evening perfect for Brenda who; rarely, gets taken seriously in other restaurants. The short ribs special was very good and we all agreed that the bay scallops and shrimp risotto is an outstanding dish! The entire staff is very friendly and for a busy Saturday night, we enjoyed excellent service! Highly recommend this lovely restaurant in downtown. “I really wanted to love Gene's, as I have heard wonderful things, but we were very underwhelmed with the food.
The Crudo small plate was mediocre at best and very fishy (although it was beautifully plated!). The Asparagus was delicious, but not $27 delicious. The Ricotta cavatelli was ok. The Pork was yummy. The Quesillo (Venezuelan flan) was just... meh.
The service from all staff and the atmosphere were absolutely A+. (Ellie (sp) was amazing!)
I will go back to give it another shot, but for the price it's a tough sell...“

I did steal his fries, though, and they were crispy and delicious. We both got gluten free buns, with low expectations, but the buns were great, too! 10 out of 10, no notes. I participated in the Cocktail Making Class for my Sister-In-Law's Bachelorette Party a few weeks ago, and had an absolute blast! Gato is the best bartender and instructor ever!! He was a ton of fun and the drinks were some of the best I've ever had in Columbus!!! I will absolutely visit this bar again and I look forward to trying more drinks. “As an Army Combat Veteran who recently moved downtown from California, I was looking forward to celebrating Independence Day here. While the red snapper was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked, the initial service was incredibly disappointing. I flagged down a blonde bartender to order a beer, but she never returned to take my food order. Despite the bar being empty, she passed by multiple times, seemingly more focused on asking coworkers how her hair looked than serving me sitting at the bar. She also ignored me while being overly attentive to regulars who arrived later. Thankfully, the head bartender noticed I was waiting and saved the night. I ended up ordering my dinner, dessert and remaining drinks from the other bartenders. I waited for her shift to end before closing out my $80 ticket. I then left the remaining bartenders $30.
It is a shame that great food is overshadowed by a lack of basic attentiveness to new guests.“

“We had several dishes but the short rib was tender and delicious. The burger which my son stared was the best he ever had echoed by the server was ok. I would definition come back for the short rib... the cookies were smaller than miniature but it's a nice touch.“

Mom loved hers and my was fabulous. I also had two links of sausage that were better than your usual mass made, which made me wonder if they get it directly from a butcher. The iced tea was also fresh and good.“

The burgers, wedge salad and steak fries are my go to, but that's always dependent on what's the daily special. Sunday steak night is also a good value.“

The funnel cake fries are the real surprise hit. Crispy, fluffy, perfectly dusted with sugar and dangerously easy to keep eating. I honestly came in for a drink and left thinking about those fries.

Huge shoutout to Salim behind the bar. Super friendly, attentive, and bringing just the right mix of smooth and playful energy that makes you feel welcome the moment you sit down. He made the whole experience better.

Bodega may not be trying to be fancy, and that’s part of its appeal. It’s a relaxed, easygoing spot with good vibes, great service, and snacks that punch way above their weight.

My Seared Scallops came with five perfectly cooked. The Pan Fried Fish, St Louis BBQ Ribs and Ribeye we're all so delicious. The Texas sheet cake for dessert was shared and very good also the espresso Martini to finish the meal was perfect. Family friendly and was a bit too loud at time although I loved the vibs and would love to visit again. We spent over $440w/tip for four people, apps, bottle of wine, drinks, entrees, and desserts.“

We came during happy hour and decided we would do a series of starters and some drinks. Upon arrival we were greeted and asked about our reservation, because we came at a time when the crowd hadn't gotten there we had options of high top or low top tables. We chose low top. Mai arrived shortly after we sat, and I let her know we would be pacing our meal a little longer since my wife and I had plenty of time to enjoy the dinner. 1st course surf and turf & garlic bread. 2nd course power green salad, split. 3rd course yuzu avocado & crispy rice. Something important to note: my wife prior to this visit was NOT A SUSHI PERSON. I think the starters and sushi from this visit I think just flipped my wife's opinion on sushi. For almost 12 years, I've been suggesting sushi and she has never been up for it, but on that day, something special happened! From the bottom of my heart, to Mai and everyone at the So Cal team that day, THANK YOU! I now have a new range of dishes that I can suggest to my wife! ❤️“
