“This was our first time ordering from here in many years. Pleasantly surprised. We ordered quite a bit. Eggrolls are open-end. We ordered the sweet/sour chicken balls, garlic spare ribs, almond guy ding, fried wontons, fried rice and the Szechuan Beef. All were excellent. Lots of meat in the almond guy ding and Szechuan beef. We'll be back! Thank you!“

“A very well kept Manotick secret. The extensive cue of pickup orders shows that for those who are in the know this little jewel is well used. Most of the clientele seem to use takeout despite a large comfortable and well decorated dining room. Washrooms were very clean and well appointed. I look forward to exploring more of the menu to make a meaningful comparison. But Wow!

“they’re one of the busiest chinese takeout places in ottawa for 30 years now. When you pick up your food there’s always 3-5 customers picking up orders within a 5 minutetime span. and it’s a small restaurant so i usually wait in my car for a few minutes before going in to pick up. the phone does not stop ringing at this place for nothing, very busy it’s just that special.“

“Just tried for the first tome today. Absolutely amazing! Got the general toa combo with chicken ball n rice. Almost every other Chinese food places the rice is chewy and dry or too mushy. These guys got it down perfectly! The general.toa isn't too spicy or too sweet and NOT SOGGY like other restaurants. Great crunch on it. Chicken balls as well had a slight crunch to it and inside was juicy. Highly recommend! Great prices too ?“

“Wow - good Cantonese food! They are one of the very few Cantonese style restaurants in Kanata-Stittsville that serve more authentic-leaning Cantonese food and they do it well. Many dishes are as good as the dishes served at the Cantonese Chinese restaurants on Merivale rd.

A major good sign is their beef with flat rice noodles and bean sprouts (gon chow ngau ho 乾炒牛河) is good. The noodles have that wok hei, possibly better than the other Cantonese restaurants that are not Canadian Chinese.

They are very kind and it’s easy to communicate with them.

Singapore noodles were very good and the Bbq pork in it was good. By default has no eggs. Good taste from the curry powder.

Flat rice noodles with beef and bean sprouts (gong cau nau ho). As good as the other authentic Chinese restaurants. You can taste some wok hei. The beef is flavourful and tender.

Sweet and sour pork was good. A lot of meat, not too much fat. Tender meat.

Next time I’ll try the black bean rice noodles.

The bbq pork and broccoli was good. I want expecting tender bbq that had that nice sweet flavour so I was pleasantly surprised. Usually certain restaurants do not serve fresh bbq pork.

Update August 2024: Their delivery process is simple: call them and put the order in and you can pay by credit card when the delivery person arrives.

Delivery person is very warm and professional. Food delivered hot and took 30-45 mins.

I ordered black bean rice noodles and they were good! The beef was tender. Rice noodles with bean sprouts is better.

The sweet and sour pork was crispy. Singapore noodles were very good and the chicken in the dish was tender.

Dietary restrictions: Singapore noodles do not contain egg by default.“

“We have been ordering from Cathay's for like close to 30 years (ooofff), and it never disappoints. Excellent food, great portions, and decent prices - not too mention fast delivery and awesome staff. I love the mushroom egg foo young and the Chinese greens (seems like such a simple thing but I was never able to recreate it myself). If you are looking for a great place to order Cantonese food from, look no more!

Vegetarian options: Buddha's Delight, Chinese Greens, Mushroom Chop Suey, and Egg Foo Young (minus the sauce) are my favourites in terms of vegetarian. Mushroom Egg Drop Soup also pretty good!“

“Everything is simply awesome. The menus are simple, with a lot if options. The service is very polite and friendly (and online ordering is a big plus), food is delivered very promptly (one time it was 15 minutes early!). The food portions are generous, but quality is not sacrificed for quantity. What's a cool plus is that they use a mix of Styrofoam and reusable plastic containers (not only better for storage but a little less wasteful). Salt and pepper pork chops are good, general tsos is not spicy enough, fried rice and crispy beef is good but their seafood is mediocre for take out including the eggplant shrimp which tastes too salty. I did not like the rice. The texture was just not right in my opinion. The Chinese style beef was good. Good amount of sauce. The sweet and sour pork was standard, so was the chinese broccoli. My husband really enjoyed the salt and pepper tofu. Good crisp and fried well and seasoned.

Ordered a combo #4 with 12 egg rolls. Today i was very very disappointed. My egg rolls were not completly cooked & were so greasy i had to soak it up with papertowel. I order from them often and they must have changed cooks because the last few times i bought from them i had the same problem. Chicken balls & eggrolls both under cooked & egg rolls to greasy to eat......Very very disappointed. I am always bragging about how good the food is here, i will not be doing that any longer?“
