“Hidden gem for some AMAZING fish and chips run by a mom and pop duo at Peanut Plaza for ages. It’s our go to place when we are craving some really good old fashioned fish and chips :)

We got the daily special fish and chips combo. It’s $11 with tax (see picture). A steal to find and definitely worth it since it will put you into a good food coma afterwards.

The daily special fish and chips combo comes with a good sized haddock fish, lots of crispy chips, choice of coleslaw or gravy, and a pop. The haddock is awesome. It’s nicely battered to make it crispy on the outside while maintaining that nice flaky fish goodness on the inside. Also, the gravy is a must. It goes so good with the crispy chips.

Heads up, limited seating. It’s more of a take out fish and chips shop.“

“This has to be one of the best stops for Fish & Chips in the city. I had one piece of halibut and chips. It was a very large portion of fish - which justified the higher price for the meal. I certainly felt that I had received good value. It was not over battered and it was still light and crispy. I asked for well done chips and that's exactly how they came. This will become a regular stop for me.“

“I used to think fish and chips were defined by the greasiness on my tongue and the inedibility of their chips. I’ve tried the dish on many occasions, but never found one that tasted just right. I think this place comes close to very very good. It doesn’t have the greasy feel that plagued so many of my previous consumptions, the batter isn’t too thick nor too thin, and most of all, I genuinely wanted to eat the chips. Definitely coming back the next time I’m in the area.“

“As a Brit who hasn't been home for a little while I was craving some good old fish and chips. The cod and chips were pretty close to what I get back home, although not quite the same but the best I've had in Canada so far. Food taste and portions were great but the only negative was that I had to wait 25 minutes for it to be ready. Not sure how the UK churns them out so quickly but wait time here was the thing that let them down. That being said, it was worth the wait if you're craving fish and chips.“

“Halibut House in Thornhill has a very good atmosphere with a big, neat dining saloon that feels comfortable and inviting. The staff are welcoming and attentive, especially Rina, who showed great hospitality and made our visit pleasant.

We ordered Halibut and Cod dishes with fries.
The quality was good overall, but the Cod was a bit tasteless, and I’ve had more flavorful fish and chips in other restaurants. That said, the experience was enjoyable, and I might come back to try some of their other dishes.“

“Great spot if you’re craving a classic fish and chips experience.

The fish was cooked perfectly, and the batter was light and crispy. I had the cod, while my friends ordered the haddock and halibut. We tried each other’s dishes, and all of them were excellent. Cooked just the way I like. To top things off, the coleslaw was amazing: light, refreshing, and with the perfect crunch. Its sweet and tangy flavor balanced the richness of the dish beautifully. Overall, it really hit the spot!

You could tell the chips were made fresh in house, too. They provided ample tartar sauce along with the classic salt-and-vinegar accompaniments for the chips. The portion sizes were very generous. I even had enough to take some home and enjoy later.

The space is clean and bright, and the service is exceptionally friendly and accommodating.
