The service and ambience were both great. We also ordered a tofu dish, and it was hands down the best tofu I have ever had, exceptionally soft and literally melted in the mouth.“

It’s rare these days to find a restaurant that delivers the same flavours, the same quality, and the same welcoming atmosphere decade after decade, but Jadeland has never missed a beat.

Growing up, birthdays in my family were always celebrated with Chinese food, and even as time passes and habits change, I still find myself craving Jadeland’s crispy noodles with shrimp when my birthday is around the corner. That dish has been a favourite for more than 20 years and still brings back that familiar feeling of celebration and comfort. Their General Tao chicken, crispy beef, salt‑and‑pepper shrimp (shell‑on), and of course the crispy noodles with shrimp have all been part of that long‑running tradition (each one giving me a hit of nostalgia every time).

One thing that makes Jadeland stand out is how good the food is whether you’re dining in or ordering takeout. Not every restaurant can pull that off, but their dishes hold up beautifully, retaining their flavour, texture, and quality no matter how you enjoy them.

Although I don’t eat there as often as I used to, that’s no reflection on the restaurant itself. Jadeland has maintained the same charm, warmth, and delicious food that made it a family favourite decades ago. It remains my number one Chinese restaurant in Ottawa, and I can’t recommend it highly enough.“

“It’s a real old fashioned Chinese restaurant. They have the best Egg Foo Young in town. Not many restaurants have egg foo young on the menu anymore. I have been coming to this restaurant for 22 years. I like the atmosphere because it looks like small town Canada. It is quiet and I feel relaxed when I am here enjoying the menu. Also - it has a giant menu and delicious specials daily. I have had delivery from them as well. They are great.“

“Amazing take out. Definitely recommend going yourself and getting it as it's ready in 20 minutes. Delivery takes 45ish. Their food is great! Our favourites are the egg rolls, beef and broccoli, and shanghai noodles! Definitely a take out (not dine in!) place. Kind of hole-in-the-wall-esque. But the food more than makes up for the decor!“

“I’ve visited Yunshang Rice Noodle a couple of times with friends, and every visit has been consistently good. The flavours taste close to the original style — comforting, familiar, and satisfying. Service has always been smooth, and the atmosphere is relaxed, making it an easy spot to enjoy a quick meal together.

The location is convenient too, especially if you work downtown. I’m already thinking about coming back tomorrow for lunch.

“I have been going here for years. They are great. I usually get duck, char sui and crispy pork. Depending on the day, they will have other stuff. Some times I just get a whole bunch of stuff for me and my friends, other times I'll get a bunch of lunch boxes. A lunch box can have 1,2 or 3 meats - comes with huge amount of rice and Chinese greens.
I even bought a hat once - got a good laugh from the team :)“

“Love these guys. Typical Chinese-Canadian food, have been ordering the combo F for over a decade. Food is simple, but very tasty. Also, years ago (before uber eats and all that), I was actually missing a buck or two (mistake on my part, didn't count my money right like a first year university student that can't handle his liquor quite yet) and their delivery guy was nice enough to give me the food anyways. The chow Mein was the star of the show. I love the wok hei flavour in the noodles. The chicken balls stayed crispy. The sweet and sour pork coating ended up not being crispy anymore, probably due to delivery. The spare ribs flavour was nice and the meat was tender. I will try more traditional dishes next time.“
