“I had the pleasure of trying the Shuizhu Rou Pian here, and it was incredible! The meat was perfectly tender, and the broth was packed with bold, aromatic flavors that really brought out the spice. The balance between the heat and the savory richness was just right—spicy but not overwhelming. The vegetables were fresh and crisp, adding a nice texture to the dish. If you’re a fan of authentic Sichuan cuisine, this is a must-try! I’ll definitely be back for more.“

“We dined in this restaurant last week. We came here because of its reputation of fruit wood smoked dishes. We ordered fruit wood smoked chicken, fruit wood smoked pork intestines, and BBQ. The BBQ items were well seasoned and flavored, the fruit wood smoked dishes did have a distinctive flavor and taste, they were good, but not exactly what I had in mind, just didn't meet my expectation. The price was a bit expensive compared to other BBQ restaurants, service was adequate“

“I chose to come here to show my friend one of my favorite spots in the Byward and a per usual we had a fantastic experience. The only improvement I would suggest is adding a stop-gap ramp / temporary ramp to enter the building. Otherwise, the restauraunt is accessible as it all on one floor and use can use a QR code to review the menu.“

“I recently visited Quan Ju De in Ottawa, and it was an amazing experience! The food was absolutely delicious, especially the Peking Duck, which was cooked to perfection—crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The service was outstanding; the staff was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. The ambiance was cozy and welcoming, making the entire dining experience even better. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic Chinese cuisine in Ottawa. Five stars all the way!“

“We enjoyed our meal at Yi Ryo a lot, the food is simply delicious, authentic but with new twist of flavors. Highly recommend the signature mixed buns and the spicy scallions noodles. The soup inside the buns is intensely flavorful, while the noodles have a mix of tasty ingredients like soft boiled eggs, braised beef, pickled vegetable, chili oil that make the noodle dish very satisfying. We also ordered the wonton soup, which is also very good and really compliments our meal.“

“We tried the vegan tofu bao tonight - first time visiting. It was delicious, as was the slaw we ordered on the side. The service was also exuberant. We will definitely be back!“

“Once again they knock it out of the park. Me and my friend came in for dinner and ordered the general toa with beef & veggies. It was delish. And don't get me started on the portions. The staff was super friendly and served us very well. If you're looking for a little gem of a restaurant I guarantee you won't be disappointed. I know I wasn't. Enjoy“

“The food was good, it was my first time trying Malatang and it was delicious but the price is kinda expensive compared to other places in Canada… but that’s Canada… sooooo for Ottawa, we’re blessed to have the Soup Fairy’s Malatang! Load your bowl with your ingredients of choice, choose your broth and enjoy the flavours of your creation.
definitely worth a try if you’re in town and craving it“

“I have been coming here for decades, so the staff knows me well. One of my favourite dishes is the chicken chow mein with black bean sauce, and it was made to perfection, with just the right amount of sauce so the noodles weren't overly dry. Highly recommended!“

“One of the best chinese places I have tried.
The food was really tasty and cooked to perfection.
The chicken fried rice was excellent. It was not oily. The orange chicken and the beef with pepper were one of the best I have tried“

“I dont think ill be returning which is unfortunate because even though the situation had a bad fall out, we could have understood if the customer relations was better.
We put in an advanced order for Christmas eve. We arrived 15 min late because we anticipated our order being a tad behind schedule given the occasion. We arrived to find people waiting an hour and half for their order which they said they had also pre ordered weeks back. The owner was hiding in the back and would not face us. If he would have said when we would likely receive it that would have meant a lot.
Also, we gave our phone number with our order. So upon hearing the wait time, i went home hoping they'd call when order was ready. They never called to tell us our order was ready. I normally don't expect this but if you are at least an hour behind schedule you think they'd call to say come now. I couldn't even tell staff I left.
When I ordered the owner showed me how many orders he had for Christmas eve. He should have planned better with staff or stopped accepting orders.“

“I ate in Xiaoqianyuan on the second day of the New Year and discovered a treasure. I got along very well with the boss and had a great time chatting! This Sichuan and Chongqing cuisine is authentic, and has been improved according to the taste here. It is not so oily, but still maintains the flavor. I, a Yunnanese, feel like going home after one bite😭 I ordered hot pepper sausage and grilled fish, and also unlocked the Guizhou boss's Hidden menu - Guizhou beef in sour soup! ! All dishes were sold out😋 I will come here to eat again when I come to Ottawa in the future!“

“Wonderful place! Dropped by this evening and got the pork buns, tea egg and a soda and it was pretty fair price on campus. The food is homemade and made with care and personally, for the quality and care, I think it is a very fair, and good price.
The buns were nice and soft, had ample filling and we liked they added vinegar and chili oil which elevated the taste. The tea egg was good as well.
Overall, highly recommend! The wait time for food was pretty quick and compared to other options on campus, I think this is clearly one of the best.“

“I recently visited Mekong and had a great experience overall.
As for the food, we ordered the General Tso’s chicken and the bean sauce beef dish. Both were delicious — the chicken had a perfect balance of sweet and savory, while the beef had a nice kick without being overwhelming. The portions were generous, and everything was served hot and fresh.“

“I ordered some Chinese takeout on a random night. I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor/amount/value of the food that we got from Lucky House. The flavor wasn't bad either. Wasn't too salty overall, but their ribs were on the sweet side. Still, I felt like there was Lots of veggies and protein. They definitely don't cheap out On the amount of food they pack in for you. We ordered the Family dinner set 3A? And me and my husband and our toddler had more than enough food for few meals. Anyway, won't be the last time we're gonna buy food here.“

“The prices and quality of the food here make it worth the trip. The shepherds purse dumpling soup is so good! However be warned this feels like a student restaurant. You order at the front, and the ambience is like that of a back ally restaurant in China. I think it adds to the charm but it's certainly austere.“

“Amazing take out. Definitely recommend going yourself and getting it as it's ready in 20 minutes. Delivery takes 45ish. Their food is great! Our favourites are the egg rolls, beef and broccoli, and shanghai noodles! Definitely a take out (not dine in!) place. Kind of hole-in-the-wall-esque. But the food more than makes up for the decor!“

“Ordered the classic rice noodles for dinner. Very interesting experience where you’re served a boiling bowl of soup and you have to cook a bunch of ingredients on your own.
Soup and ingredients were very fresh and tasty. You also get to refill your rice noodles if needed. I had one refill and it was very filling.
Highly recommend for Chinese food in this area.“

“This business has many years of history that's obvious. Delicious food consistently served in takeout format and they don't forget stuff. Preparing good food quickly and serving with a smile using REASONABLE prices, who can do that!!!
Vegetarian options: I would not eat vegetarian but every item is beautifully and freshly made with good quality and decent amounts. I am so happy“

“I visited with my sister last week and ordered the rare beef pho and enjoyed it very much. The service was prompt and attentive - the food also came out very quickly. The atmosphere was lovely, clean tables and chairs, and tasteful decoration.
The pho itself was very nice. However, the broth (although clearly homemade with lovely clean flavours and a good amount of fat) to my palate lacked some of the spices which enhance those classic pho flavours. To me it tasted like a perfect chicken noodle soup broth. The hoisin sauce and siracha helped bring it back to the pho world.
We did not get bean sprouts or thai basil to put on top, however we also visited late at night close to closing time.“

“I normally go in to purchase BBQ pork and go home to mix it with noodles. I decided to try a full meal today and wasn't disappointed at all. Make sure that you ask for sauce as it boosted everything else. the lady was very nice and so was the gentleman waiting around while taking the time to explain the different items that they sell. It was fantastic on all levels.
Parking: You can park on Upper Lorne which is just around the corner from DH.“

“Kid-friendliness: D. Song was so friendly and great with the the grand kids. She had just rolled out her fantastic dumplings, which we devoured and took home after ordering too much. Crispy beef was the best we've ever had along with shrimp and book choy, then the mushu chicken then eggplant in black bean sauce. Took lots home! The service and attention was great! Been there a few times over the years. Will now be our go to place for this great food! Thank you D. Song!“

The sauces are perfectly paired to everything here. The price is unbeatable. You'll get a lot for what you buy. ;) I hope that never changes. I can't stress enough take a flyer before you leave with your meal, your friends will want some too when they smell your leftovers!

“Quality of food has gone downhill. General Tao chicken was sour and house fried rice was basically chicken fried rice with 2 shrimp thrown in. Very disappointed.“

“The lady working the counter is very friendly, and the food is absolutely delicious as well as being a pretty decent price for the amount and quality of it. Only detracting part for me is that it's in a mall food court, but otherwise an excellent place to get something to eat.“

“I dislike the use of plastic food containers rather than compostable ones. The food is just below Bourbon Street Grill quality, so very good for the downtown core. Bean sprouts are a much appreciated vegetable side option. Sauteed corn would be nice to have. The portions are still generous.“

“This might not just be the best Chinese restaurant in Hintonburg, but it is one of the best in Ottawa! The fried pork has lots of meat, not just thick layer of batter. The scallops were HUGE! The fried noodle dish was very savoury, but could be a bit saucier. The waitress was very nice and friendly!“
“I tried their new recipe bun Bo hu, it is really tasty. I even finish all soup as well. It is spicy but really good. My husband tried their passion fruit iced tea and black pepper beef tender rice. He likes it too. Will definitely come back. The service is good!“

“We liked the food, our 1st time at this Chinese food restaurant. We had egg rolls, won ton soup, chicken fried rice, beef with ginger and lemon chicken. The size of the dishes was large compared to others, the food was all good although we would like to see a bit more lemon sauce on the lemon chicken! We will go back, and that is the best recommendation we can make!“

“i’m surprised the ratings for this place are as low as they are! I have never dined in, but the food has been great anytime I order online. The fried eggplant is awesome, octopus balls are soft pillows of yummyness, and the cold noodle salad is my go to for when I don’t want to get anything fried and heavy.“

“Great food and quick service at a reasonable price. Staff were friendly and the portions were huge. The taste was also very authentic. The only problems were atmosphere and cleanliness. I can give the dirty bathroom that seems to be doubling as a storage locker a pass, as that seems to be the norm even at high-end Chinese places, but the music was really a pain. We went in the early evening when there was only a few tables - mostly couples on dates - but for some reason they were playing really loud, bad electronic club music with really trashy, exploitative videos of girls "dancing" in sleazy-looking night-clubs. Maybe they primarily have a student clientele this appeals to? But I've never seen something like it in a Chinese restaurant in either North America or Asia before, and it came across as really trashy and damaged what was otherwise a great experience. Consider keeping that stuff for later at night, if at all. I would have given them five stars without this issue.“
