“I tried their highly recommended chicken shawarma lunch special (large – $14.99 + tax), which came with shawarma, hummus, garlic sauce, chickpeas, fresh salad greens, cucumbers, and pickled beets. The chicken was beautifully charred and flavourful. Underneath, there was a generous layer of roasted potatoes, rice, and cooked lentils — such a nutritious and great-value meal.
Even though they were extremely busy during the lunch rush, the assembly process was very efficient and well organized, so the wait time was quite reasonable. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming.“

“This review is in reference to the collaboration dinner with and at gateau ghost hence why I didn’t give a rating for atmosphere.
Oyster: delicious bite. Salty, sweet from the palm sugar, fragrant coriander and shallots, no notes. I plan on dressing oysters like this in the future at home. So good!
Hokkaido scallops: I’ll start off the the good. The flavours were strong and I loved the space. The shrimp paste was so delicious and added such a unique savoury element to the dish. The crunch bits of fruit also added great texture. Now I don’t feel like the scallops were the star of the show and that’s where I feel like the dish fell a bit short. If you’re going to use imported Hokkaido scallops then they should stand out but they kind of fell into the background. We were also a seating of two but received three leaves/wraps. It would have made more sense to have four leaves or a shareable number. The leaves were also lacking in flavour, maybe shiso would have been a good choice. But nothing was terrible and tooo away from the dish, I simply wanted more bites.
Fish curry: again I’ll start with the positives. The curry itself was spicy and comforting. The fish was cooked really well and I loved the blistered skin. We finished the whole bowl and were even offered more by the chef behind the counter which was so nice. He explained that this was a northern style curry, hence its departure from the more well known coconut milk curries. The dish was served in a bowl but we were given sharing plates which didn’t really work. I ended up just using the rice bowl bc the broth would just run off the plate. I also think the fish could have been better seasoned. The veggies in the curry were also prepared separately (blanched) so they were pretty bland. I would have liked for the veggies to be cooked in the broth but it was fine. The curry itself was so strong in flavour that it carried the rest of the dish.
Dessert: :( unfortunately we didn’t like this one. Not enough coconut flavour, no burnt/char flavour and the crisps/bark didn’t taste like sesame either. Everything was just a little off the mark.
Overall the Thai favourites dishes overshadowed the gateau ghost dishes by farrrr. My review for gateau ghost is on their Google as well. Will definitely be coming to Thai favourites for dinner. Thanks!“

“I have been ordering lunch at this location 2 times per week for the past 4 years. It is an efficient location, I have never had any issues with the quality of the ingredients (which isn't the case with some of the other Fast Fresh Food locations in the core) and the staff are friendly and great to deal with. Highly recommend for a quick, healthy lunch.“

“Went for Valentine’s Day. Ethan was our server, he made great suggestions was very professional and at the same time kept it very casual as if we were talking to a friend. The food was amazing but the highlight of the night was Ethan’s perfect performance. I highly recommend the mushroom fried rice and would return again just for the services. 10/10.“

“Great healthy option in the food court. The sandwiches are great, but the salads are my favorite. Light yet filling and full of protein. Service is always really fast and the portions are generous.
Little pro tip: You can go on their website, to their nutrition tab, and calculate the exact nutritional breakdown of your meal.“

“Pricey but we did have appetizers, entree, dessert and a bottle of wine! Fabulous food. Four huge shrimp in the shrimp cocktail. Patas bravas with a generous portion of octopus. A 6 oz filet mignon that my wife couldn't finish (dinner tonight). I had lobster spagetti, good but the shrimp are better. We shared grand marnier souffle. Numerous apologies from the staff as it took a while to come out but we weren't in any rush. It gave us time to finish our wine and for dinner to settle and was worth the wait. L'avenue is a neighbourhood gem, for sure.“

“I was visiting Toronto for the weekend and wanted to grab lunch at an affordable sports bar where i could catch the games. I can confirm the excellent reviews on Google are well deserved. “Rhum Corner NEVER misses!!! I came here with my boyfriend for our anniversary, and as always, everything was perfect. We ordered the oxtail with rice and beans and the fried chicken with macaroni. Honestly, I can’t come to Rhum Corner without ordering the oxtail. It’s always so tender and so flavorful. I swear I could eat it every single day and never get tired of it. The fried chicken was perfectly seasoned and juicy, and the macaroni is just perfect.
And I have to mention the pikliz, I swear they need to start selling it on its own because I could eat it by the jar by itself. The perfect mix of heat, crunch, and tang I just love it so much lol
I also ordered the Painkiller, which was soo good. Sweet, creamy, and dangerously easy to drink.
The food, the drinks, the atmosphere, the service … everything about this place is just incredible. You can taste the care and love that goes into everything they make. Rhum Corner is one of those restaurants that just gets it right every single time and that’s why I’ll keep coming back 😌“

“Went there unintentionally just to get some quick snack while waiting for friends. The atmosphere was like you are so where in France. I grabbed salad and a coffee and my partner enjoyed tasty cappuccino. Great balanced dressing not overpowering the taste of the fresh greens and sesame seeds. Service itself was great, since they recognized I was a first-time visitor, the ambassador had helped me to make a choice. To my surprise the prices were “balanced” as well. Great place in the heart of Toronto! Recommend it.“
