“This is the quintessential local fish and chips joint in the best possible way. It has a classic local old school feel with hard working friendly service. I cannot say I've had better fish and chips anywhere. They use wild Alaskan cod that is ready lightning fast. It is so crunchy, juicy, fresh and tasty that I didn't even use the malt vinegar that is usually my favorite part. The chips are hot crunchy krinkle kuts...also my favorite. The surprise treat is the tartar sauce. Its homemade and killer, not the gross stuff from a jug. The coleslaw slaw is a creamy classic slightly sweet with little or no mustard or vinegar taste. Reasonable prices and portions for quality food. This is a seemingly hidden gem. They have nice burger and sandwich options that Im dying to try, but every person in there got the fish and chips. This is a new happy place for me.“

The bartender Stormi was totally kickass and down to earth; you could tell that her upbeat personality set the mood and everyone in there was feeling that same way. Everyone was so friendly, helpful and genuinely happy that I actually didn't want to leave... I almost never go to bars but, if you do; I'd definitely recommend trying this one. ??

“Been awhile since I had been in. We had the pleasure of being served by Mary V. Me and some friends ate and played some pool and she was fantastic and very attentive the whole time. Will definitely continue to go back because of our experience with her.“

“Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. It was nice being able to order off that menu at 1 PM on a Saturday while my friend enjoyed her lunch. “Boss Hawgs is a funky dark bar near/in the Gateway area of Portland. My buddy loves it here. I’m in the 3 to 4 star zone for them. We get the cheesesteaks and they are packed with beef (sirloin, I believe) and onions and peppers if you’d like um. They come with fries which are very good. It’s a lot of food at a good price. The quality is inconsistent and really depends on who is running the kitchen when you go in.

The drinks are priced well and there’s booths, tables and a kinda odd outside area. It’s a touch sketchy here (has a lot to do with this area - being on a major thoroughfare) but it’s worth going to now and then.“

“I just go there for poker. Which means I never get asked if I want something to drink. I usually do want something to drink like a soda or water but I never get anything. So when I win at poker I don't tip. I was hoping they'd catch on but so far nothing has changed“

“This bar was a special place for a special friend of mine. Larry Troiano loved betting on horses, I thought for sure he was going to hit it big. Sadly his chances were cut short. Way short way to early. Larry was a good biker but no matter how good his skills were nothing could have helped him that fateful night of April Fools. A unlicensed, uninsured female pulled out of a plaid pantry and a bar parking lot 143rd onto Sandy blvd shortly after midnight without even glancing to the left struck Larry and his bike, tragically killing Larry. The female was in shock I believe because she never got out of her car, nor call for paramedic nothing. Nearby homeowners and store workers had to be the ones to call for help. I hate to think of him suffering at all but it seems as tho he laid there for almost a freaking hour well the time from the accident and when he passed away at the hospital was an hour. 😢

Larry you will always have a spot in my heart and will be missed severely you grumpy old man.

The rooms are unique. No phone or TV but really that not why you come here. The artwork is very Oregon. If you are really lucky there is live concerts and music on weekends. Don’t forget to visit the soaking tub! Within easy reach of Portland, Portland airport and area sightseeing.“
