“It’s really exciting to know that there’s finally a Jollibee in Portland! 🎉🍗 The food tasted amazing and honestly felt much closer to the flavor back home compared to the Jollibee in B.C. Everything we tried was fresh and satisfying, which made the visit totally worth it 😋.

The only small downside right now is that they don’t have Palabok on the menu yet 🍜, but the staff were very friendly and mentioned that it should be coming soon, which is great news! The team working there was helpful and welcoming throughout the visit.

Our order did take a little while to come out, but the wait wasn’t too bad and still manageable ⏳. Overall it was a really good experience, and I’m happy to see this spot in Portland. Definitely looking forward to coming back again! 👍“

I took it back to the counter and asked if it really was a double and they said no. “I have been coming to Baja Fresh since I was a kid and finally returned after years! Always fresh, quick and generous with portions. The guacamole and salsa were plentiful and chips were offered complimentary while we were waiting for our orders. I love how they have diversified their menu with options for alternative meats and fish. Definitely will be visiting more frequently!“

“After a day of Christmas shopping, we ended up at this MOD Pizza somewhere west of Highway 217, a Portland metro region my brain refuses to map. Once I cross that highway, I’m operating purely on vibes, parking lots, and hope. I was extremely hungry, but also somehow unaware that food was an option—until MOD appeared like a carb mirage.

I usually overdo it at MOD, ruining my experience by piling on too many toppings like I’m being paid by the ingredient, then act surprised when my pizza is a mouthful of chaos & regret.

This time I showed restraint. Kept it tight. Lean. Plus extra cheese... because Cheese. That’s it. And this was one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had at MOD, followed by a real “oh now I understand why restraint is a good choice” moment that I will think about forever.

While my pizza was being made, the guy behind the counter casually mentioned his favorite sauce on pizza is pesto with a side of cold ranch dressing, which felt less like a suggestion and more like a prophecy. So I added a light pesto drizzle with full intention of ranching later.

At checkout, I mentioned that we always grab at least one “no name cake” each—sometimes two—so we have one for later. Pesto Ranch guy immediately joked that if we grabbed two, we should probably grab four.

This is what it feels like to be understood as a person.

When our pizzas were ready and our name was called, I asked the oven operator for a side of ranch and complimented them on their incredible hat. This hat deserves documentation. It was a giant felt, wide-brimmed situation with a full, head-sized Christmas wreath wrapped around the crown.

The moment I saw it, the voice in the back of my mind whispered “big dumb hat,” specifically the Amy Schumer SNL sketch kind—and I mean that with deep affection. It was a fantastic big dumb hat.
Bold. Festive. Confident.
No notes.

And somehow—miraculously—this may be the first time we’ve ever eaten at a MOD Pizza without sitting in a freezing, soul-draining draft. No arctic blast. No indoor wind tunnel. Just warmth, pizza, pesto, ranch, cake plans, and holiday headwear excellence.

Great pizza. Genuinely delightful humans. Strong encouragement to buy more cake than necessary. Legendary hat energy. I will absolutely get lost west of 217 again for this.“

“We got a craving for a good old-fashioned A&W Root Beer Float, and this location was closest to us! Things have changed in this world, and few childhood memories still exist. This is one memory that is still around. I have wonderful memories of taking our glass A&W gallon jug in for a refill and making rootbeer floats at home when I was a young girl.
On this trip, we decided to have burgers with our floats, and unfortunately, we found that the family of burgers has exited the building. Papa is still around with the original sauce. The bacon burger is still around but is no longer the Teenburger. The fries with the delicious seasoning are still happening, and all together, we were not disappointed! We went through the drive through and did have to pull around front and wait for a minute for our order, but we had Root Beer Floats to keep us doing the car happy dance until our food showed up!
