“It has been a long time since I’ve gone to a teriyaki restaurant because my wife has resisted it. Our friends wanted to go here and, I was excited, and my wife agreed. We both had the chicken teriyaki lunch special, which come with chicken teriyaki on a bed of white rice, a side of either sweet and sour chicken or three pot stickers, and a small side salad with a house dressing. I just assumed the sweet and sour chicken was what I receive in a Chinese restaurant. Boy was I wrong! It was like way over cooked fried chicken. It was so hard that it was difficult to eat and there was absolutely no sweet or sour flavor. My wife said the pot stickers were soft but did not taste very good. Fortunately, the teriyaki chicken was very good and adding the sauce to the rice made the rice very good. The house sauce on the salad was very good. The lunch special came with a soft drink and the entire lunch was $13.50. The lady behind the counter was very nice but speaks Japanese and very little English. I tried to tell her the chicken was almost inedible but she had no idea what I was saying. We do not live in Portland so there is almost no chance we will eat there again but I would recommend the chicken teriyaki with fried rice, which our friends had and they said it was very good.“

“We discovered this place and on our way home decided to pick up some food. I ordered the 16 piece Yang yum chicken, and the Beef Bulgogi with the mandu potstickers. Everything was absolutely delicious. “I’ve heard about Wok Shop Kitchen from other family members and have been wanting to try it out for a while, but I seldom get out to the east side. Circumstances finally had me in the area so I decide to give it a try. It did not disappoint. The beef ribs were off the hook and the fried rice was amazing. “Came on a busy Friday night and it was packed, but was worth it! The girl with short hair and glasses deserves a raise — she was constantly moving, taking orders, running food, clearing tables, holding doors, and keeping the place clean, all with a great attitude!! You could tell she worked hard and cared. It was our first visit and we’ll definitely be back. The margarita pizza with ranch was delish! Good texture and flavor. Very clean and modern place! I used the non-spicy powder on my Chow Mein and I was loving the flavor combinations. They also used this powder on our king oyster mushroom BBQ skewers. I admittedly couldn’t order most items because of dietary restrictions and the large amount of spicy foods, but I still love to see so many uncommon options.“

“I just tried this place for the first time today and was not disappointed! I was really craving teriyaki and scanned some places nearby. I was really grateful this place popped up because it is now one of my favorite places to eat. The service was excellent. The lovely lady answered all of our questions kindly and the whole place was clean and looked really pretty in the late afternoon sun. This location used to be a different teriyaki place which was not good. Since i assume new ownership and a name change it has increased not only in quality of ingredients used, but quality in whoever is in the back cooking the food!“

“I’m 33 and I have been coming here since I was in high school (St. Mary’s alums will understand), and the owner always recognizes me and still remembers my order to this day even though I have gone months and even years in between visits sometimes. She is so sweet and prepares the food with care; I usually get the veggie yakisoba and I’ve never been disappointed. Their peanut sauce is my favorite. Their food is still reasonably priced, so definitely tip if you’re able!

It’s a smallish spot with not a ton of indoor seating, but I always get my food to go anyway. Parking can sometimes be a little tricky during peak traffic, but if you’re willing to walk a block or two you should be fine.“

We got the sesame chicken and the flavor was great. But the texture was hard for me at times. The sauce was very sludge/slime textured, and the chicken had a fatty texture to it at times. Seemed like it could have been fried longer. But the service was good, friendly and quick. The atmosphere was alright, there wasn't much to the place. Didn't see much in the way of decor.
