“10/10. Do not come here unless you’re prepared to ruin Hawaiian food everywhere else forever. Everything I’ve had here is straight-up criminal. The Death Row Plate is my go-to, a stacked sampler loaded with Hurricane chicken, Korean fried chicken, and poke that will knock your balls clear across Pacific Hwy. Also… the grilled shrimp plate?? Absolute menace. I could eat 100 of them like candy and still be looking around for more. And the mac salad that comes with every plate? Should be illegal. I’m pretty sure it violates at least three laws. To top it off, the owner runs this place solo, in there every day, grinding, serving every plate herself until she sells out. And she sells out every single day. She’s born and raised Oahu, so you’re getting so you’re getting the real deal, no mainland shortcuts, no watered-down flavors, just straight island heat. Hours: 10–2…..Translation: show up early or cry in your car. 🫳🎤“

“We had Noho's cater our wedding and it was definitely the right move! Super flexible, took care of everything; Their team came to the venue vans loaded, set up, served, cleaned up... it was all included. We had them do our bar too and they did custom his/her drinks for us too. The team is incredibly nice and super flexible. We found out later that they actually filled everyone's water before dinner too. And of course, everything was delish. Our 'ohana was raving about the food. If you're looking for a taste of home for your event this is it.“

“First time here and we will definitely be back again. My husband and daughter stopped in for some shave ice. Not too long after, my daughter accidentally dropped hers, leading to lots of tears. The person working came out, unbeknownst to us, with a replacement and reassurance. Thank you, it was very kind.“

“My absolute fave! Found this place by searching nearby food places. When I saw the 5⭐️rating I had to try it. It did not disappoint. It became my go-to place in Portland when I come visit.“

“This is the spot, if you are looking for a nice dining experience with delicious food, a clean and well-maintained space, and friendly, attentive staff. The views are beautiful, which adds to the overall atmosphere. My favorite dish is the teriyaki beef plate, served with noodles and a fresh salad. Consistently full of flavor! I’ve also tried the teriyaki chicken plate and the kalbi ribs, both of which were excellent. I highly recommend this location for great food and a pleasant dining experience.“

“I purchased lunch for my team at work and every one of us couldn’t get enough. To quote one person “it’s like a flavor party in my mouth!” Is an understatement. All of the flavors were perfectly paired, and not overpowering with one or the other. I can’t wait to get more!“

“We’ve been wanting to try this place for a couple months now and finally made it in. The owner was super friendly and the food was delish! There’s a handful of options available, and they have a bunch of sauces to pick from. I got the Maui Girl plate. I definitely recommend!“

“Always a great experience at Hale Pele. Great atmosphere. Delicious Tiki Drinks. If you arrive and there's a line, don't get discouraged, as the seats tend to become avaliable relatively quickly. We didn't eat, we just had a drink and left a out was the end of the night. Can't say how good the food is.“

“The ube dessert and spicy tuna onigiri are delicious and the guys that work here are so friendly and helpful. They gave me recs on where to go and what to check out in Portland which I appreciated. I came back here multiple times during my short trip from Bend. l plan on coming back next time I'm in the city!“

“Great pork curry katsu, good poke, tasty but very chewy ribs, ok Mac salad. General greasy smell of the restaurant pretty overwhelming, caused some asthma. Might bypass the dine-in experience and get katsu to go in future(?) Popular and good happy vibes, good to see so many island people here.“

“A real gem in the university district! Having been to Hawaii and eaten authentic plate lunch I can assure you the other reviews are incorrect. The restaurant is clean and spacious. The food is prepared well, tastes excellent and is priced very reasonably for the large portions. Something hard to find in the area. Another rarity is the owners take the time to get to know their customers. You can expect to be asked if you want "the usual" if you dine more than a few times. It is refreshing to see hard working small business owners still making it work.“

“I go here about every 4 or 5 months with my gma and have for many years. We only get the Poke bowls as theyre her favorite. Though they were better 7 years ago, that isnt rly that big of a deal for me compared to how hard it seems to get thru a line if there is one present. I tend to find myself limiting my changes to 0 between me and my gmas bowls just to ensure a line doesnt form. The process takes significantly longer than something like subway, and the other items are overpriced. But for a small Poke bowl I guess there arent rly cheap options outside a quality belt sushi style restaurant.“

“This is my favorite 3rd place. I come about once a week at different times and days, and I can always find seating. There's some seats that are very comfy. I like to work, read, draw, and talk with friends. The kava is good and fairly priced all things considered. The bartenders are all great and friendly. Highly recommend as a hang out spot.
I feel like I've noticed recently that the pineapple slices that come with each bowl are always very sweet and juicy. It's sad to gulp down a bowl of kava and have an astringent pineapple core as a chaser. In any case, their kava is well brewed and tastes as least-bad as it's possible to be.“

“I love this place as it is what reminds me of Hawaiian food when i lived there. Each location has its moments but yeah its pretty fire. I live the mac salad.
There are other Hawaiian spots that offer a different wxperience. I've enjoyed most of them, but this one i will drive out of the way for everytime. Doesnt mean I'm right but it is good.“

“I tried for lunch one day and went back with my wife the next day so she could try. I will say first time I got the Macho King sauce it was not as spicy as I led to believe, but the next time it was hella spicy. Delicious either way, but may be a Russian roulette situation so be careful! The fries and whatever orange sauce they provide with them are outrageously good too. Very friendly staff.“

“Never written a review before but gotta share that this was super good. Honestly better than it needed to be and I’m thrilled about. I had the kalbi chicken with Mac. The dish was simple, no frills, but the cook on the chicken was excellent. The flavor was delish. Even the rice was perfect.
Thanks so much.“

“This is a really cool spot & the bartender/waitress was super cool & really friendly & super nice!! This was my 1st time here & stepped out of my comfort zone & was really full of anxiety all the way until I walked in & from the minute I met the bartender & then it went out the door. She was so welcoming to me, my boyfriend & my esa. Definitely recommend trying for drinks. The food was dry & had no flavor tho. But everything else was great.“
“Big Kahuna never fails on great BBQ!!!! The Mac salad is amazing like always..“

“This Hawaiian Cuisine lover is always looking for the next best thing in Hawaiian eats, even when traveling to other cities across the country. This time around, while visiting Portland Oregon, my wife and I discovered Da' Hui Hawaiian Bar & Grill nestled on Foster Road, it offers quite an array of known and some less known island cookery. Some of their offerings include supposedly Portland's Best Kalua Pork, the likes of Hawaiian Style Chicken, Lemon Chicken and many, many other dishes ready to entice you. A few of us stopped in for a bite and I must say, none of us were thoroughly impressed! One of my fave dishes – Loco Moco in all its simplicity, I thought lacking. I had their Loco Moco consisting of grilled and lightly seasoned (somewhat bland) beef burger patty served over rice, topped with 2 sunny side up eggs (which can’t be made wrong), with grilled/sauteed onions and totally smothered with a less than respectable brown gravy, then served with an okay macaroni salad! Although everything we tried was just okay, I found it nothing to write home about. Not bad, but not great either. It’s just a place to get your adequate Hawaiian on!“

“I highly recommend their chicken! I ordered all four types Honolulu, Kilauea, Huli-Huli, and Molokai regardless of the flavor the chicken was delicious. Each piece was tender and filled with flavor. You can taste a piece of the islands in every bite.“

“We had our Company Christmas party at Ohanna Hawaiian Cafe and everyone that worked there was so gracious and helpful. We had a mix of ages and everyone found something to their liking on their menu. The food is fresh, delicious and huge servings. I had the Kahlúa pork with mac salad and white rice. So flavorful and filling. All our team and their family had a great time and we celebrated the holiday in style 💕 Thank you Ohana 🙏“
