“Went to Rovente for the first time last night and OH MY GOODNESS WILL WE BE BACK!!! I'm new to the area and an absolute lover of pizza and this is the best I've found. I ordered a cheese pizza and a custom. We tried the cheese first and were so beyond stoked. If the cheese pizza was that good we couldn't wait to try our custom and oh my goodness I wish I had the words to explain how good it is. The crust is more on the thin side which I loved as it was firm with a bit of crunch but also soft and perfectly chewable. Their sauce was phenomenal, we got regular red on the cheese and spicy red on the other and both were amazing. The cheeses and toppings also were fresh and delicious! I think the gal working the counter was named Kat and I think she mentioned she was a manager, I told her it was my first time in and how excited I was to try you guys. She told me about how Rovente's is family owned and how amazing the owners are which are all things I love to hear as a customer. I also really loved her confidence that I was going to love the pizza and boy was she right! I didn't get the other gal workings name but they really did an incredible job and I will absolutely be a return customer!“

“Super cozy spot and everything was delicious. I really like how they have half and full options for the salads and pasta so you can get a variety to share. The staff are all very welcoming, and made the experience feel very homey and relaxed.“

“Everything I've eaten here has been good to very good but the menu reads better than the food tastes. I can't quite put my finger on it, but the food is somehow lacking some refinement. It's still very good and I want to return to try more dishes. The bathroom situation would be comedic for a juice bar or coffee shop, for a sit down restaurant it's kind of ridiculous.“

“The food and flavors at Dolly Olive were so unique in a good way. Items are served family style and meant to be shared with the recommendation of 2 dishes per person which seems about right. We left feeling satisfied and full but not overstuffed.

We ordered everything at the same time, and the kitchen delivered the dishes at appropriate times. We were served the warm, marinated olives and Dolly Caesar Salad at the same time, and both were very delicious. The Caesar salad has some twists to the traditional Caesar that worked well and was not heavy at all. Next up were the mushroom ravioli with a lemon sauce that was divine, and raviolis that had a great balance of pasta to mushroom filling. Our 4th dish was the eggplant parmigiana, and it may be the best version of this dish we’ve ever had. We were trying to figure out how they got the flavors so deep and smoky from the cheese to the eggplant and the marinara sauce. Our last savory dish was the crispy chicken confit which was bursting with such different textures and flavors that one wouldn’t think would go together, but they do.

After looking at the dessert menu, we decided to split the cannoli which was plentiful for 2 people. Similar to the salad, it wasn’t a traditional cannoli. The shell seemed more of an Asian eggroll shell, and we couldn’t figure out the underlying flavor in the chocolate filling. When we got a bit of the shell, filling, and caramel topping in one bite — oh my how good.

The service was very attentive as we had a main server, but it seems the entire front of the house staff ensures efficient (but not rushed) service. Our food was delivered by 4 different people other than our main server, and we had a 4th person clean our table after our ‘mains’ and before dessert. Everyone seemed focused on ensuring we had a great experience and enjoyed every bite.

Our bill came to $125 before tip which we thought was reasonable and a good value.“

“This is my favorite restaurant in Portland. I finally went into the restaurant after hearing about it for so long and every single time I’ve been here, I’ve had the most exquisite food with ample portions and the most satiating flavors of Italian food and wine that you could get in Portland. It is comfort food at its finest with the best local ingredients and everything is off The chart delicious. I’ve had the pizza, I’ve had pasta, and I’ve had steak twice. Everything is delicious and I can’t get enough of it. The decanting of the wine, the sides to the bread with olives and oil/vinegar. Every single thing I eat, seems to be at the highest level of ingredients with a lot of attention to detail put into everything. The vibe of the place with the uplifting atmosphere, the decor and the righteously amazing vibes of Chrissie the head bartender…makes me keep coming back for birthdays and special occasions. I actually don’t eat out very much with fast food or takeout because I save my money for this place. I can spend $20 at Taco Bell or I could spend $20 here and usually go home very full with leftovers. Chrissie can make the most delicious concoctions and she literally looks like she’s creating something magical when she comes up with something new. Her cocktails are on point yet she’s always innovating her craft. Attention to detail for every single drink. The best recommendations for what they have that night. She informed me that they bake their bread fresh every day. Foods are sourced locally and every single dish makes me want more. I’m trying to get some variety in what I order yet. The steak does it for me every time. The pizza is the best I’ve had in town and sooooo good. I’m very picky about pizza as it’s my favorite food yet this crust and the delicious cheese and greens and everything they put into their pizza is so tasty. The flavor of every single thing I have eaten makes me want to have it again and again and again. If the Italians that I know in my community, make this a regular spot, then I also know it’s good! It’s authentic righteously on point delicious food every single time I go. All my people come with me to this restaurant for special occasions. Do yourself a favor and visit Cibo! If somebody’s coming in from out of town… Take them to Cibo! To celebrate my children’s accomplishments, I take them to Cibo! I already have two reservation reservations for the first week of January and I went there last night. It’s this good! A lot of people post pictures of the food there and I’ve had every dish that I’ve seen online… But what means the most to me about this place is the whole experience of bringing My special people here to experience, uplifting vibes, delicious and exquisite food, the most incredible drinks, and an atmosphere that takes us out of our daily life and gives us such joy and pleasure to experience. “The food is really good and everything is well priced, but the service is non-existent. The one female bartender seemed irritated with us when we walked in. We sat at a table and ordered the food from the QR code. We also got our own water which I'm fine with. But other than bringing over the one n/a drink I ordered, neither bartender checked on us or asked how our food was. We got two salads and two sandwiches so plenty of time to check on us. The only interaction we had was with the male bartender who waa much nicer and brought our sandwiches, but still never checked in. When you close your check on your phone it defaults to 25%. For what? Why would I leave 25% for someone who didn't even speak with me and when Imt doing pretty much half the work myself? 25% is a full service restaurant gratuity and honestly If they interacted with us even a little bit I would have been fine with that. The kitchen staff brought our first food round out and they were very nice. We came in on a Friday night and it was pretty empty, (us at a table and a couple people at the bar), so it is not like they were too busy to engage. I have been here once before and it was a much better experience so not writing this place off, but tonights experience was sub par. Food was bomb though.“

“Legitimately one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever experienced in the US. I have lived in Italy and my husband is Italian and we thoroughly enjoyed everything about our dinner. The wine selection is varied and thoughtfully curated. We enjoyed a bottle of Sardinian Carignano which is a rare find in the states. The prices are more than reasonable. We had a lovely locally sourced steak that melted in the mouth for $32. Bread is homemade fresh TWICE daily and the meat and cheeses were top quality If you’re looking for AUTHENTIC Italian in Portland, look no further. Nero Gallo has it all; great food, prices, staff, atmosphere and we will most definitely be back.“

“I had to say I was very sad to see Bollywood go in the neighborhood bc it was one of my FAVORITES, but I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of Maglia Rosa since the same chef was reinventing the space. We finally had a chance to dine there Friday night with a bunch of girlfriends and it was DELICIOUS. We tried almost every salad on the menu (beet/avocado/cucumber, chopped salad, and the Raddichio, all were yummy, perfectly dressed, fresh ingredients. For the main I ordered the cavatelli with beef ragu, was the perfect balance of sweet and savory, the pasta was perfectly cooked. We shared the fresh corn fritelle (corn fritters) that came with the yummiest peach chutney which felt like a nice nod to Bollywood:) For dessert I had the sorbet of the day (peach, yum!). I can't wait to come back and try some other things, I've heard the crespelle fiorentina is a favorite. I will also be back for some quick to go meals that come in handy during the busy week, and they have a lovely wine selection. They even let you taste some wines when you order your dinner. It's a bit funky ordering at the counter but that was how Bollywood was before, and it actually works, and the staff took note when the line was getting long, to add another person taking orders. Once we were at our table, several different servers checked in on us regularly and we could order additional drinks and our dessert without standing back in line which was awesome. I also just love the vibe in side with nice lighting, tall ceilings and tables of various sizes depending on your group. They also great seating outside with a lovely patio and covered area with heat lamps. Great addition to the neighborhood.“

“This is a casual place offering handmade pasta, wine, beer, some cocktails and several non-alcoholic beverages. You order at the register where you walk in and they serve your drinks immediately and bring your food when it's ready. I had the potato gnocchi and loved it! Others had things they enjoyed, but had some critical comments: the spaghetti was a bit underdone, but the meatballs were incredibly delicious; the pizza pockets were just okay. We had a bottle of rose and it was good. The atmosphere is light industrial - booths and high tables that are not very comfortable, but the medium-sized restaurant space is filled with light, wooden tables and chairs, and stainless steel (kitchen visible). You could watch pasta being made and dried on racks, which was kinda fun. I will try it again as 23rd Street is a favorite place to explore, shop and eat!“

“Holy 5-alarm fire! I got the Fusiili ala Vodka, which I know is supposed to have some heat, but this one —- it’s like the cap fell off the jar of chili flakes! I still loved it - the pasta was perfectly cooked, the pork shoulder was bursting with great spices, but I was still facially sweating through the whole meal. We got their Caesar salad too, which was excellent, not too much dressing and just the right amount of anchovies. The real deal, and helped cool off my lips.
Grassa has their counter service food model down pat, and the meals come out fairly quick, fresh and hot, so thumbs up there. Service is up and down, depending on how slammed they are, but I give them a pass since they do do aLOT of takeout orders and are not meant to be table service. Love that they have beer, wine and some cocktails too.
This location works well for all the reasons stated above, but we often get our food to go — the ambiance here is not that great. Strip-mall -modern-meets industrial in a cold, cavernous space does not make you want to linger. No thanks.“
