you don’t go for the food. its over priced, trying to hard to be cool-ethnic….almost self conscious in its drive to be hip with small portions, as if to signals the quality. it tries to incorporate the taste elements of the culture, but the items i had fall a bit short…almost bland. good for IG eyes but it is the mouth that counts.

contrast this to lulu where the deep ethnic menu is a “hidden treasure” and treat inside a great cocktail lounge. the bar appearance gives you no hint to the great execution that hides behind the curtain. the food is great and well priced. it is about execution and is not self conscious. it works.

“We've been to Raven's Manor twice - first for Circus Obscura which was a 1000/10 experience - entertainment was enjoyable and the drinks were incredible. Obsessed with drinks in a cauldron! The second visit was for their Elixir Experience which I highly recommend. There's a little escape room followed by a laboratory area where you follow recipes to create your own cocktail. You can also enjoy your food and cocktails in a private dining area after the laboratory. The closest thing I have to a complaint is that vegan food options are limited and generally just okay. Everything else is perfection.“

They have a couple vegan food options (fries, salad, pickles), and I’ll admit those fries are BOMB, would love a couple more options like a vegan burger or hush pups?? “My omni friend told me JUNE is great and that we needed to go. We ordered the BBQ pulled "pork" sando with side salads, the gobi drumsticks, and the lemon custard. Everything was fantastic. The staff were attentive and all around lovely as well. We'll be returning soon!“

“We had an exceptional experience at Comala. The drinks menu came with a diagram of the flavor profile AND how each was served. Why doesn’t every bar do this? If you want wine it’s all Mexican. Then the food we ordered (skirt steak tacos, chilaquiles but very elevated, and padron peppers) arrived and every dish was wonderful. Highly recommended.“

“While staying at the Portland RItz we decided to wrap up our day at the Bellpine with drinks and snacks. We were able to be immediately seated without a wait, although I was surprised last call came so early in the night. Service was fast and congenial, and the whisky/snacks selection was nice overall. Prices were, as expected, ridiculous but really you're paying for the vibes and atmosphere. The views are incredible and the energy inside is upbeat and fun. Would come back again for drinks, but would probably eat elsewhere beforehand or afterwards.“

“Amazing restaurant connected to the Royal Sonesta hotel. Excellent first stop for breakfast as it is full service and opens at 7am. Coffee was fantastic, food came out quickly. Had biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs. The biscuits were split and toasted with a garlic butter, gravy was spot on, and eggs were light and fluffy and not over cooked. Service was excellent, the entire space is beautiful. Full bar, wood fitted pizza oven... Highly recommend.“

“We were in Portland overnight and Gilda's was recommended to us by the hotel staff. The food was amazing. It was crazy busy and the staff were hustling, but very professional. Even when a customer at the next table was being unnecessarily difficult (his companion and the waitress and we all knew it was his error, not the waitress's) the waitress handled the situation with grace. We were so impressed with the food and the staff, we went back on our return trip through Portland a week later. Equally impressive food and service, but on a slow night, so the staff had time to happily engage with customers. Shout outs to Taylor and Gabby and Chef Marco. Everything was delicious and the service was friendly and professional. Highly recommend.“
