50 Best American Restaurants in Pittsburgh

“For six years I have been looking for a new favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh since my old favorite one closed. I have never found a place that had the perfect food and atmosphere I was looking for until I entered Lilith last night. Everything about this restaurant is phenomenal. The service from being greeted to the absolutely awesome server we had was excellent! The food had a wow factor rarely found in Pittsburgh. I’m not usually a huge fan of how vegetables are cooked most places and the veggies in my dish just blew things out of the water. You could tell they were fresh and local too. The fish I had was just amazing. It was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Needless to say I will be back again and again now to experience more culinary delights!“

“Friendly staff and nice spot. Saw Citizen Soldier and the place was clean as well as easy to get to right off the highway 🙂 There's ample meter parking dlong the strip it's on but there's also a few lots where the businesses are closed. I noticed a lot of ppl parking there“

“Where can I begin… the food was delicious! Friendly service and real conversation. My family and I are from Indiana visiting for the weekend and we wanted to try Grandma B’s. Went on Saturday morning and it was so impressive we said “We’re coming back tomorrow before we leave!” Only to return Sunday morning and they had standing room only! Sadly my party and I were just going to head back to Indiana, hungry when they called us back in and said”We’re going to make room for you all up top.” They proceeded to prepare another area upstairs to accommodate our party! Hands down best food in service in Pittsburgh!“

“We’ve never had a bad experience here- I’ve come as a part of a small/medium/large group at different days and times. It doesn’t seem to matter, they always fit you in and their service is always good. Our server tonight , Emily, was exceptional, anticipating things before we even asked for them, and our food came out very quickly. Their menu is also huge, there’s something for everyone!“

“Hands down the best breakfast we have ever had. Seafood omelet and steel city breakfast delicious! Portions are large, had enough to bring some home. Husband had a banana split and said it it one of the best he’s eaten. Our waitress was so nice. Thank you for such an enjoyable experience! We will definitely return when in the area.“

“I booked their banquet room for a combo birthday party for my daughter and husband and everything was great!!! They let us show up hours early to decorate and the food was amazing. The best part was our server/bartender though. She was so busy taking care of the whole party and never once looked overwhelmed or flustered. “MY friend and I went there on Saturday to celebrate our birthdays..Our server Adam was simply amazing. He patiently waited for us to decide on our drink order and went as far as to let us try the drink to see if we liked it, which we didn’t but he took it off our bill and then brought us a birthday card and wished us a happy birthday. The food was very delicious. But our main complaint comes down to Adam !! He was so fantastic and such a kind person . They truly have a rare gem in him as an employee! I hope they appreciate him because he is what makes it a truly wonderful experience there. We will definitely go back there and if we are lucky Adam will be our server.!!!“

“We were stuck at the UPMC Passavant McCandless ER late one evening when the hospital cafeteria was already closed—no options there! Desperate for something quick and decent, I ordered takeout from NPL (the closest reliable option nearby), and wow, I’m so glad I did.
The food came fast—super efficient service even during what must have been a busy time. I got the chicken tenders, and they were huge pieces—perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and absolutely delicious. The side salad was another pleasant surprise; it was generously portioned (way bigger than your typical “side” salad) and fresh.
Best of all, the price was very reasonable—great value, especially when you’re in a pinch at the hospital.
If you’re ever near UPMC Passavant and need solid, satisfying takeout, I highly recommend this place. It turned a stressful night into a much better one with good food done right. Definitely 5 stars!“

“Not a huge review guy but felt compelled to give props to Matt and his team for executing wing orders on Super Bowl Sunday. I arrived a tad early for my pick up time not knowing what the crowd will be like. I assumed busy but not slammed. Well they were slammed. Matt communicated with everyone in line and while it wasn’t the exact pickup time stated, it was well within a time frame that wasn’t excessive. Hell, it’s super bowl Sunday and you are still in line for the best wings in Pittsburgh. Got the wings, drove home....the wings were cooked perfectly! Great job!“

“Inndigo Blue is a nice restaurant. The menu is somewhat limited, but the food was excellent. I had a cup of French onion soup and a chef's salad, both of which were quite good. My server (Kimberly) was helpful and very pleasant. She was appropriately attentive to my needs without being in any way intrusive. I live about 4 hours away and was here on business staying at the Comfort Inn (attached). I don't know when/if business will take me to this same address again, but for a simple, tasty dinner, Inndigo Blue is a winner. Thanks!!“
