“Update 2+ years later.. more words. Quality is just as good as our first time here. The fried chicken is maybe the greatest on the planet. Crispy outside, juicy inside like something that you'd see in an advertisement - but you actually get it. I had the steak, tenders, broccoli casserole and mashed. I didn't need all that food but I couldn't stop eating. Heather is a freaking machine behind the bar and the staff is a well oiled machine. Will definitely be back sooner rather than later this time. “Went on a busy Friday night but hostess was able to accommodate myself and two daughters. I was in a rush and was pleasantly surprised by the speed of service by the wait staff and kitchen. Everyone was pleasant, food was excellent (kids had burgers and fries and I had the chicken sandwich). Had a long drive home and we arrived at 7:15 and left by 7:50 with full bellies, fun atmosphere, great staff… which was ideal! Highly recommended!“

“We just celebrated our Dover Area High School graduate this past Saturday (5/31/25) at the Roosevelt Tavern, and everything—from the food to the atmosphere to the service—was absolutely FANTASTIC.

What made the day even more meaningful is the personal connection we have with this place. The father of my children, Edward “Peewee” Green, was a chef here many years ago under the previous owner, Bob Schimmel. Sadly, he passed away in November of 2012. Though my kids were only 4 and 5 years old at the time, many patrons still fondly remember him and speak so highly of his time at the Roosevelt.

What we didn’t expect—what truly left us speechless—was the incredible gesture from the current owner. Unbeknownst to us, he had held onto one of Peewee’s old chef coats for the past 15 years, and he gifted it to our graduate during the celebration. That thoughtful, deeply touching act gave our kids a priceless piece of their father’s legacy—a physical connection to a man they’ve heard so much about, but lost too soon.

We are forever grateful for that moment. It meant the world to me and to our family. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.“

The server was gracious and attentive. She listened to every detail and executed correctly. I highly recommend this one it’s quiet and serves a diverse range of residents from young to old and anywhere in between. You are welcomed here and the food. The food is always delicious and…. “Firstly I want to say that our server was AMAZING. We didnt get her name but she was blond, middle aged, glasses, sweet and I think I may have detected a possible accent? Seriously, she knew the menu and even told us they would make anything we wanted whether or not it was on the menu. She was attentive and nice and we compensated her for that accordingly with our tip. So the food, I mean it's run of the mill, maybe. It's out of cans or frozen for sure which we very much anticipated I guess. I got the country fried steak with 2 eggs, and my husband got two egg with peaches and corned beef hash. Both my steak and his hash were a bit reminiscent of dog food looks wise. Neither had good color, crisp or appropriate type of heat applied that would make you think they were cooked at the appropriate temp for the right time. Kind of just mooshy and lifeless. Also, hubs isn't feeling so hot digestive wise and reading past reviews, that looks to be a thing here? UPDATE: Now I too have intestinal issues and hour after eating here. Great. Thanks guys! ugh. It is what it is, but the prices were steep for a side of diarrhea to go along with that nude colored food, is all Im saying. Also, the blond curly haired woman who seems like a "manager" has some serious resting you know what face. Shes just outright rude too. Like she has a hard time playing well with others. When we'd watch her make eye contact with someone she would fake smile, then immediately roll her eyes behind their back when they turned away. To everyone, no matter the circumstances. NOT PROFESSIONAL AT ALL. Keep your emotions off of your face if you want to work with the public. She approached our table to replace the menues and I kinda got the chills. Once I started watching, I saw who she was very clearly. I cannot be the only one who's seen this behavior and it's one of the few reasons we won't be back.“

“The dining area was empty and we were seated and served right away. The mushroom swiss burger was great and came with chips. A separate entree are fries with old bay seasoning. They were great and the portions were enough for several people. Prices were reasonable. The bathrooms are difficult to find and located in an area that appears to be for employees.“

“This is a great place, great food and great people. The employees treat you like family and over time you’ll become family. Their food is amazeballs! They’re adding more and more craft beers, sours, and ciders all the time to their already extensive beer menu. The staff is awesome with topnotch servers and bartenders. If you haven’t already, give them a visit. Dinners are superb and the venue is whole-family friendly.“

But hadn't frequented the white rose after they went to a more upscale setting, my old high school homie suggested we go there and after we got seated I found out his out of town visit was for a death in his family that he assumed I knew about but I did not... now your staff being as great as you guys are and the food made this bad personal experience for us very nice otherwise, and it made me feel I may visit again sometime for lunch and a cold 🍺“

I go here often enough and I have had days where things where off but then again I've had that happen everywhere . The food here is good , good price, and the staff is friendly and fast.“

You are allowed to smoke in the bar, so if cigarettes bother you, it's probably not the place to go for you. You can take your drinks into the bowling alley and play a few games while you drink! “Old school style diner with nice offerings and a huge menu. It's been clean the bathrooms were nice and clean which is always important to me. My table had goulash and meatloaf. The entrees were good. The brussel sprouts were just heated up out of a can. Pretty blah. Service was excellent. Lots of parking. I would definitely eat there again.“

“I've been here a few times and have ordered out a few dozen times. The food here is good if not very good in my opinion. The Cheese Steak is very good especially on their Turnover bread. The only complaint is a couple of times I felt they under performed on the amount of cheese steak and toppings. The Fries are very good and I've always got nice hot salted just right. The Hamburgers are very good and big enough with fries to fill you up. The pizzas Ive had have been great as well and my girlfriend likes the Chicken, Bacon Ranch one the most and she is not a pizza person. Being from the Philippines she is more of fish eater than American Food. She also like their Chicken Cheese Steak again she doesn't eat red meat at all because in the Philippines she never really ate it, it was to expensive. They have a great selection of beer too, if you go to pick up a little early you can drink something while waiting. Long review but I wanted to get one out since I have always liked my food from there so far. I saw a few really bad reviews about the owner which shouldn't have much to do with their food. Order pickup and you won't even know who the owner is. People get drunk in bars and get kicked out then give a bad review since they evidently did something to draw the owners attention.“
