“The place is very clean , organized, and neat. They are very friendly and welcoming . Today was my first time finally coming in, and I am SO glad I did! The owners are so sweet , and gave me so much background on their recipes and where things come from (which I love to hear). I ordered brisket, pulled pork, and both their regular and bacon smoked macaroni and cheese. Y’all … I didn’t even heat it up before trying a bite from all of it . It is so freaking delicious !!!! I can’t wait to go back . Looking forward to trying more . 100% worth every penny. I’m so happy to have them here in Dover!“

“Went on a busy Friday night but hostess was able to accommodate myself and two daughters. I was in a rush and was pleasantly surprised by the speed of service by the wait staff and kitchen. Everyone was pleasant, food was excellent (kids had burgers and fries and I had the chicken sandwich). Had a long drive home and we arrived at 7:15 and left by 7:50 with full bellies, fun atmosphere, great staff… which was ideal! Highly recommended!“

“We just celebrated our Dover Area High School graduate this past Saturday (5/31/25) at the Roosevelt Tavern, and everything—from the food to the atmosphere to the service—was absolutely FANTASTIC.

What made the day even more meaningful is the personal connection we have with this place. The father of my children, Edward “Peewee” Green, was a chef here many years ago under the previous owner, Bob Schimmel. Sadly, he passed away in November of 2012. Though my kids were only 4 and 5 years old at the time, many patrons still fondly remember him and speak so highly of his time at the Roosevelt.

What we didn’t expect—what truly left us speechless—was the incredible gesture from the current owner. Unbeknownst to us, he had held onto one of Peewee’s old chef coats for the past 15 years, and he gifted it to our graduate during the celebration. That thoughtful, deeply touching act gave our kids a priceless piece of their father’s legacy—a physical connection to a man they’ve heard so much about, but lost too soon.

We are forever grateful for that moment. It meant the world to me and to our family. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.“

“Update 2+ years later.. more words. Quality is just as good as our first time here. The fried chicken is maybe the greatest on the planet. Crispy outside, juicy inside like something that you'd see in an advertisement - but you actually get it. I had the steak, tenders, broccoli casserole and mashed. I didn't need all that food but I couldn't stop eating. Heather is a freaking machine behind the bar and the staff is a well oiled machine. Will definitely be back sooner rather than later this time. “For awhile, there was some turnover in the cook staff and the service and food was not very good to be honest. Some of these issues seem to have been fixed and changes have been made for the better. Service is much faster and food quality has improved. If you haven't been there in some time, give it another chance. I'm glad to be patronizing again.“

“This is a great place, great food and great people. The employees treat you like family and over time you’ll become family. Their food is amazeballs! They’re adding more and more craft beers, sours, and ciders all the time to their already extensive beer menu. The staff is awesome with topnotch servers and bartenders. If you haven’t already, give them a visit. Dinners are superb and the venue is whole-family friendly.“

“We met 2 other couples for a birthday dinner. It's no smoking in the dining room but the bar allows. All of the servers are great 👍🏻, personal and friendly. I had suicide wings and were dish. So many variations of sauces and dry rubs. Ice cold drafts and the beef sandwiches are killer good and tender. Ordered side of fries and 2 of us couldn't finish. Parking is on the street and if you have to, rear parking lot but about 20 steps to get to the front door. First time and will definitely be back.. real comfy plain. Wear jeans.“

“We come all the way from Massachusetts and always stop for ice cream and breakfast! The food is always so delicious and of course the ice cream! The staff is so nice and we love seeing them every year! We even get the best souvenirs to bring home! Johnny is hilarious and always so fun to have as our waiter! “I cannot even begin to express how grateful we are for the kindness and exceptional service provided by Jim & Nena's. After a failed delivery with GrubHub it was much needed!! They were patient with GrubHub and my husband as all 3 worked together in rectifying the situation (which was no fault of the restaurant). They not only offered to deliver our order themselves (so we could stop dealing with GrubHub), but also gave us an additional pizza!! Ps. The bacon cheese fries were LOADED in cheese & bacon & they were absolutely delicious. We will certainly be stopping here more often (rather than ordering through GrubHub).“

There is a piano in the main dining area, though it was not being played during our visit, the vibe of the restaurant conveys it would be an amazing piano bar experience. Oh, did I mention the food was fantastic? There is a bar and lounge upstairs that offers a small and relaxing getaway from the main area on the first floor. Will go back often!“

“We came here for dinner on a Saturday evening in September. We saw on Facebook that a musician we like was performing. Facebook has this listed as Center Square Brewing but the sign outside still says underside bar.

We sat at the bar. We ordered drinks and then dinner. I had the cashew crusted chicken and it was good. It came with two pieces of chicken and I took one home as leftovers. The steak meal was very good as well.

The bartender was friendly and attentive. There weren’t too many people down there. The atmosphere felt like a basement - I mean, it’s a little dark because it’s down stairs and there is no windows and everything is brown or dark colors. It was casual and relaxed. Prices were comparable to most other local places we go.

Parking was a free paved lot adjacent to the building.“
