“I had heard good things about Scratch Bakes. I just got a cupcake and peach tea. I also saw a meal someone else ordered. The cupcake was very tasty and the tea refreshing. The indoor seating is very pleasant, quiet, and layed back. There is also outdoor seating. The service was friendly and helpful!“

“This was something like my 3rd visit. It is an absolute must when coming to Amish Country. Make it a jumping off place for your exploring. The baked goods are amazing, the service is friendly, efficient and well thought out and the ambiance lets you begin to feel that you have really stepped away from your busy, modern life. Great for families, tourists or those who just want a to slow down.“

The gal that waited on us was very nice. Great stop! If you’ve never had homemade soft pretzels (not the game day kind) - then it’s a must stop!“

“It’s a standard Italian bakery like in NY or other actual cities. The bakery items are good, the Italian cookies are ok even though they don’t make them all and the cakes and other items are ok. The actual bakery is very nice, the cashier/barista/c.s. woman was nice and knowledgeable, definitely worth visiting to try a few things.“

But this is not a walk-in bakery, it is a manufacturer. They bake the goods and ship them to other stores. I was so sad that this wasn't a dine-in or even takeaway location. “Stopped in during a conference and was blown away. The barista, Blaze, was incredibly friendly, seriously knew his stuff, and made the best latte art I've personally seen (four different designs in one morning!). The espresso was the best I've had in PA thus far, and the drip coffee was easily on par with my own pourovers at home. Also got a blueberry lavender scones that was as good as they come.

The spot is small, with very little seating, but I honestly found that charming. Maybe I'd have felt differently if I weren't there right at opening!

It’s now so runny with mayo (or whatever they use) that it plops right off our sandwiches. They’ve also seem to cut back on the celery which added a nice contrasting crunch. Please bring back the old recipe.“
