“Our first time at Blue Olive was to celebrate a birthday and it didn't disappoint. The fusion of Mediterranean/Tunisian/Greek food was nothing short if spectacular. The service was incredibly friendly and gracious and the ambiance charming. We started with hot appetizers of roasted artichokes, pan fried Halloumi cheese, Spanakopita and an evening special hummus with spiced, minced lamb served with warm pita. All so delicious we were tempted to forego our main courses of moussaka, lamb kebab and delicious lemon/caper cod served over a bed of roasted root vegetable. Desserts, celebrated with a happy birthday candle on a scrumptious chocolate/hazelnut cake , walnut baklava and Turkish coffee made the evening complete. This BYOB gem is a culinary find and we will be going back soon.“

“I tried this place out on a whim for a lunch break and the food was great and I enjoyed what I ate. Normally I'm used to Mediterranean food being overcooked especially when it comes to chicken, but their chicken tender from the plate I ordered was really moist and the flavoring and seasoning was just right that I didn't need to sauce it out even though it was there on the side. Our server was really nice and attentive as well. The inside of the restaurant is really nice and enjoy the option to eat out at the balcony facing the lively intersection of Magnolia St and Trask Ave. Although the parking is probably hogged up by the car shop, you can find parking out on the north side of Magnolia St along the right side facing northbound. The point where the fire lane ends is not far from the restaurant and the walk to the restaurant is doable. If you're worried about battling the northbound traffic of Magnolia to get out of your car, you can drive a bit further and park in the nearby neighborhood. I got marked up pictures showing you where you can go. It'd be a five minute walk if you were to park in the neighborhood. I put up pictures marking out where this extra parking is. My suggestion is to come in from the South side going northbound of Magnolia St. or come in from the East side going westbound from Trask Ave.

But yeah to the folks that work out here in Garden Grove, you should give this place a try during your lunch break 💯. They got a lunch break special.“

My older parents and I were looking for a place to eat (and having a tough time finding one!); finally we saw that Ekta was open, though we then discovered that it was due to close in 40 minutes. I am deeply grateful to our server, Owen, for never making us feel like we were inconveniencing the staff by arriving so close to closing, and for going out of his way to help my mom (who has limited mobility) to navigate the steps both when we arrived and when we left. He situated us at a table just next to the door, which was even more helpful. As for the food itself, my dad was delighted with his garlic kabob, and I really enjoyed the Chandrakala (first time I'd ever encountered these dried-fruit-and-coconut dumplings) and our bread selections (Lachha Paratha and Ekta Naan, the latter kind of an adaptation of the Peshawari Naan concept but with black sesame seeds included).
