“I came to Metro Diner this morning off the humbug. I was starving & was craving some chicken & waffles from somewhere close in the area. Surprisingly the chicken was very seasoned and crispy. My sister had to add salt, SALT, to her roasted beet salad because it was so lacking in flavor. The roasted pears weren't even cooked all the way, the pistachios on it were overcooked, the Brie was thin and mostly the outside shell with very little taste, and the bread slices were completely burned. The crab cake on the sandwich was tiny, and ice cold in the middle. The turkey apple grilled cheese was not even cooked all the way. The turkey and apple were as cold as ice, and the cheese wasn't even melted. I sent it back to be cooked better, and it came back the exact same temperature. I asked to speak to a manager, and they just took my meal off the bill and didn't even offer to compensate or do it better. The chef is a lazy person and needs to be put in line. someone call in Gordon Ramsay please!“

Our waitress, Piper was phenomenal, .... friendly, accommodating, and very attentive. The food was perfectly portioned and all tasted great. The soft pretzel was wonderful. The Brussel Sprouts was excellent and the short ribs were tender and flavorful. The apple cider mule was a perfect drink to top it all off.“

“Administrative details - While you usually must make a reservation a year in advance (which I did), there are a very few earlier spots available on their website. In addition, if you are on the email list, they send the occasional last-minute availability. Talula’s is BYOB. The price was $125 and with all the other things, taxes, gratuities, it came to $160. The Nook Table is available for 6-8 diners and the Farm Table is for larger parties. Website link is below. Everything is presented in “tasting” small portions. In addition to the menu, they provided a couple of additional offerings. I did not do a good job of capturing the delightful descriptions of the food provided by our server. (The next time I go, I will video the descriptions if they allow.) The group did a great job of bringing wine which was beautifully poured in appropriate glassware by our server. The server also paired the wine with the offerings for us! The service was exceptional without being pretentious. After each tasting, plates, utensils and glasses were cleared and refurbished so discreetly that you hardly noticed. The menu changes with the “farm to table” availability. My favorite was a squash tarte. [I was delighted to find that I did not like the foie gras. It is “made” in a most inhumane and horrible way. This is the only time I have eaten it and I will never eat it again.] I was sorry to find that by the Black Garlic Beef Ribeye (#6 on the list), I was getting to the point of “too much food.” The only downsides were “too much food” for most of us and the wines they suggested for the pairings were hard/impossible to find. I personally did not like the varieties of wines they suggested for pairings. The rest of the party enjoyed the comparable wines they were able to find and allowed the server to pair with the tastings. I will be making a reservation for next year very soon. I have already made a reservation for the “sister” Talula’s Garden in Philly for September.“

He was so wonderful and pleasant to speak to and so accommodating. Our waitress Crystal H was wonderful too. She gave such great service, even helping us to decorate the tables. I didn't expect her to do that but that was so nice of her. The food was great and prices reasonable. The staff there all seemed so friendly. Again many thanks. “Babes and I went here this past Friday for the Beef Wellington. They offer it as a special only on the fourth week of the month. Let’s just say it did not disappoint. Exactly what you would want it to be. Melt in your mouth, no real knife needed ?.
Also had the Brussels sprouts- fried hard. Yum. Crispy in every single layer with a nice kick of maple!
We sat out on the patio, our server was a joy. She had a great personality- wish I could remember her name to shout her out.
My only true complaint is the obnoxious table beside us that had no table manners. Belching left and right, cackling the whole time. Clearly they had too much fun and forgot about their surroundings. Patio was just not this kind of atmosphere. Had they been in the bar/at the bar it would have been more understandable.

Nonetheless, the Brussels sprouts and the Wellington is a must try! They also had one of babes favorite beer!“

“This Applebee's was on point today. We were seated right away no wait. The server came up right away. The food was good. I ordered the French onion soup and chicken wanton tacos. The soup is normally good no surprise there but it was the first time I had the chicken taco off the appetizer menu they were light crispy and had fantastic flavor. Would definitely recommend“

“I'm so disappointed that I need to change this formerly 5 star review (old review below).

The menu has been revamped, and in that process, many of the vegetarian- friendly options have been removed, including the ability to swap a vegetarian protein for the various breakfast meats. There are no longer any vegetarian substitutions.

The prices are no longer excellent, either. Today, I paid $17 for a just-ok omelet and potatoes that, despite having the same name they used to, are no longer nearly as good as they used to be.

This may be a function of it being a Sunday morning, but it was so loud in there that I could barely carry on a conversation.

My previous review is below. I'm hoping that the management will consider revising the menu to make it more flexible for vegetarians and others with dietary restrictions.

Very relaxed atmosphere and an amazing menu! There were plenty of vegetarian options, and they can even add a Beyond Burger to omelets! Prices are very reasonable. Service was excellent, but it was a slow Monday morning, so that may differ during a weekend brunch rush.

I would absolutely recommend this restaurant if you're going to breakfast with people who have dietary restrictions.

“We were visiting Newark for a furry convention nearby and my partner and I got stuck in a random hailstorm on our way to Chipotle down the street. We took cover in Home Grown and found out it's got a large selection of vegan selections, which was a surprise! We took the opportunity for a date and our server, Dana, was wonderful. They introduced us to the restaurant and gave us an overview of the menu, specials, and their favorite drink. We ended up ordering the Maple Barbecue seitan wings, the casserole style loaded fries, the seitan birria tacos, the winter mac, and Dana's favorite drink, the Bird by Bird. The drink was amazing and a perfect choice with all of the food being incredible. I wish there was one near where we live. What an absolutely wonderful date.“

“The manager was extremely kind and helpful. We arrived very late and the kitchen was closed but he offered us a few pizza options and we were more than grateful!! “My family and I go to Letty's every week or so. Although the restaurant area has plenty of charafter, we like to sit in the bar area for the atmosphere since there's usually live music. We have our “go to” meals ..: Steak Frittes, which are the best around (even in fancy reataurents). The Cliftonian pizza is also a favorite! While Letty's is laid back, the service is awesome.“
