“My friend and I came here for a quick lunch on a Sunday. No crowd, just a few people. It was definitely a divey kind of place because it was really dark in the space. We had to find a table near a light to see! We shared the guacamole which was delicious and addicting. I got the mahi mahi tacos and those might be the best Mahi tacos I’ve had in a while. So flavorful and they looked beautiful. I’d definitely go back to try some of their other dishes!“

“@halal_mexican is a hidden gem in Philadelphia that has some of the best HALAL Mexican cuisine that I’ve ever tasted. I love that I was able to find a Mexican halal spot. Pictured: -Flautas -Shrimp Chimichanga -Mini Corn on the Cob -Chicken Tacos -Steak Burrito Bowl My favorite item from there has to be the flautas. It’s a deep fried rolled chicken tacos served with pico de gallo and sour cream. Highly recommend this restaurant to all those seeking a tasty mexican restaurant with good service and halal food! “This was my second time here. I went a couple of months ago and I ordered the same type of tacos (cauliflower). The tacos this time were much more flavourful, had more sauce/seasonings. I also had the same margarita and it was also much improved.

I was there with a party of 8. Service was great and one of our party was running late. We weren’t rushed and were asked if we wanted to wait to order food, which I really appreciated.

Our party included meat eaters, vegetarians, and gluten free (celiac, not by choice). There were multiple choices for everyone. Everyone thought their meals were really good - and this is a crowd that frequents Mexican restaurants.

I have celiac disease and can tell within 30 minutes whether or not I got exposed to gluten. The server was very knowledgeable about gluten free options, from drinks to the food. I was assured that what I ordered had no cross contamination and they don’t put other items in the fryer that they use for tortilla chips. I had heard that they had stopped doing this a few months ago from an online review - but seems like they have a dedicated fryer for their chips again. I did not have a reaction!

The rooftop deck is beautiful and just a wonderful atmosphere. The entire restaurant though is thoughtfully decorated and the murals are gorgeous. Also really thrilled about supporting a local who clearly put a lot of thought into opening a restaurant here in East Falls and making it such a wonderful experience.“

“Been coming here for the past 7 or 8 months. The food never fails. The best burritos I’ve had anywhere. Get the pastor burrito and tell them to put the red sauce inside if you like it spicy. I’m eating the mole enchiladas right now and they’re amazing. The elotes are really good too. I want to try everything on the menu but I can’t stop eating the pastor burrito, it’s so good. Staff is very friendly and the owner is a great guy.“

Authentic Mexican style cooking, a reasonably broad menu that was affordable with large portion sizes.The dining area is somewhat small, there's a lot going on in a small area and it feels crowded and busy. “This food is amazing. HAND MADE TORTILLAS which I have never seen in a Philly taqueria before! We ordered one jamaica glass and they gave us a huge jug to share AND two extra cups to take out. The inside is pretty small & no frills, but the food is ABSOLUTELY worth it! I speak Spanish and the lady serving us was the owner, she mentioned they are struggling to stay open. “My most recent visit to Jose Pistola's was amazing. Michael the manager is the reason Jose Pistola's feels like more than just a restaurant or a bar. He is incredibly warm and attentive. You can tell he truly cares about the guests and his staff. Sofia was our waitress and she was spectacular, she made sure to explain everything to us even the specials. I cant wait untill our next visit.“

It seems like this place is slept on gem compared to other NoLibs brunch spots. We had the omelette plate and plaintain French toast and it was sooo flavorful and delicious. Will be coming here as my main brunch spot from now on.“
