“As a Chinese international student, I highly recommend 川悦喆 if you’ve been missing authentic Chinese food from home. The restaurant is very clean and cozy, and hearing Chinese music playing in the background honestly made me feel so comfortable and nostalgic.
Most importantly, the food tastes incredibly authentic — literally the exact flavor I’ve been craving and thinking about every day since coming to the U.S. It truly feels like a taste of home. Definitely one of the best spots for Chinese students in Pittsburgh!“

“Since my go to dimsum spot permanently closed, I have been searching for authentic dim sum and luckily I found this spot. As soon as you walk in the decor is gorgeous & the service is quick & friendly.
The menu is large and they're constantly changing it up, I'm surpised its not busy as there are so many options to eat. The food we got was fresh, hot and delicious & the cucumber water was so refreshing.
If you're thinking trying dimsum, this is the place to do it go support them, you won't be disappointed! 🩷“

“I LOVE this place SO much! You get a ton of food! You can't beat their sushi and lunch combo specials! Every one there is SUPER nice! Their egg drop soup is the best I've ever tasted and you can order it with no starch and add extra egg! I get it by the quart. I did get a tiny shell in mine today, but that's no issue, and it is easy to spit into a napkin, and it has only happened once before.(I get it a lot) The string beans & chicken is glorious! The eggrolls are crispy, filled and not dried out! Basically everything tastes like it did pre-2020. It is totally worth it! The only thing I've ever had here that I wasn't a fan of was the Pad Thai, but I think that's because I was used to it from elsewhere, so it was just different to me...I still ate it tho! Stop by and try a lunch special! I also love that they use natural ginger with their sushi and not that weird pink stuff! lol! I only wish I didn't live 30 minutes away. You can tell they care!“
“Real nice place with solid takeout or eat in!
Spicy Chicken is one of my favorites, honestly if you like spice I would even ask to make it spicier, but the flavor is top tier! Also love their noodles, good portion sizes and everything is flavored nicely, one of my favorites in the area!“

“Super affordable, old-school Chinese American cuisine. The egg foo young gravy was excellent and the egg patties were perfectly fried. I almost lived above it once, but realized they would get most of my paycheck on Sundays bc I'd want to get some takeout for my homeless friends next door! 🙂↕️ If you like the most classic Chinese food, check this place out. It even has the retro menu boards, which is always a sign it's gonna be good food.“

“This Chinese food restaurant is primarily a take-out shop. The food is made fresh, so it is hot and tasty. The General Tso's chicken is tasty but not too hot. The portions are good, and the pricing is appropriate. I definitely recommend trying this restaurant.“

“A Journey Back to Panda: The Hidden Gem (right before my eyes)
Our normal takeout spot was unexpectedly closed. We were hungry. We were spiraling.
There are moments in life when the universe conspires to remind you that greatness doesn’t announce itself with gilded menus or sommeliers in bow ties. Sometimes it whispers from a small takeout counter in New Kensington , where it has been whispering for thirty plus years.
I stood there, right before my very eyes, watching steam rise from those containers like incense from a temple. And in that moment, decades collapsed. I was transported back to the 90’s—a hazy, beautiful memory of my younger self clutching a paper bag from Panda, not yet knowing I was holding something extraordinary. But time has a way of validating what we once took for granted.
Fast forward to now. The order arrives. I open the General Tso’s chicken, and I am struck motionless. This isn’t just food—it’s an aria. Each piece: impossibly juicy, fork-tender, draped in a sauce that somehow manages to be both savory and subtle, bold yet restrained. It’s the kind of balance that five-starred kitchens chase and rarely capture. I’ve eaten at renowned Chinese restaurants where celebrity chefs command three-hour waits. I’ve tasted the handiwork of masters in San Francisco’s Chinatown, New York’s Flushing, even Vancouver’s Richmond. And right here, right before my eyes, in this unassuming New Ken takeout, I found something better. The portion? Gargantuan. The value? Almost embarrassing in its generosity.
Then came the chicken lo mein—a mountain of perfectly cooked noodles tangled with vegetables and tender chicken, each strand glistening with that ineffable wok breath that separates the pretenders from the masters. It was huge. The lo mein is the only item that I would offer a mild suggestion: it needed slightly more liquid smoke flavor and the addition of green onions. Portion size means nothing without soul. Add those two ingredients and you give it soul.
And the Hot & Spicy chicken—oh, the restraint! The sauce was light, almost humble, allowing the vegetables to maintain their integrity, letting the chicken speak for itself. No drowning in cornstarch slurry, no aggressive assault of heat masking mediocrity. Just perfect clarity of flavor, right there before my eyes.
For three (maybe four) decades, Panda has been doing this. Quietly. Humbly. While the food world chased trends and accolades, and buffets while “authentic” became a marketing buzzword, Panda simply kept being magnificent. It stood there, a landmark, waiting for those wise enough to notice. Now I notice.
I notice.
I have seen the light, and it glows from a takeout container in New Ken. This is not hyperbole. This is testimony. Panda doesn’t just serve Chinese food—it serves a masterclass in what happens when skill, consistency, and care simmer together for almost forty years.
Just wow. Simply, unforgettably, wow.“

“China Jade has great food and friendly staff! Prices are comparable to other restaurants. You cannnot dine in their building anymore, it is take out only. But they will happily allow you to have a seat inside while you wait for your order if you'd like. You won't be waiting long as they are very fast at prepping the orders. Great place. Have been going here for years and will continue!“

“So….. I ate here only a couple of times. Today I brought my wife. My wife was blown away! This food is so good! They take care not to use a lot of sodium and the food taste really fresh and health, not overly greasy. It’s really good I’m honestly surprised. That veggie fried rice is my favorite right now. Give it a try!!!“

“I ordered the spicy spider maki hand roll from uber eats. I never make google reviews. I had to come on here and say how fresh and delightfully tasting it was. The fried rice and miso soup is really good. I haven’t had fried rice that tasted well in a while from Uber eats in Pittsburgh.“

“Came in for takeout and there was no one inside eating . Lady at the counter was really nice and my food maybe took 15 minutes got a lunch special and it only cost a little bit over $10. Not bad for the amount of food I got. Said it was supposed to be spicy and it wasn't to me, but still was good :)“

“Taipei is by far the best sushi and Chinese restaurant in the Fox Chapel area. The servers are courteous and the specialty sushi rolls are noticeabley larger and tastier than Jimmy Wan's. In my opinion, Taipei also offers a better selection than Jimmy Wan's. We also appreciate Taipei's complimentary fried wontons served before each meal and orange slices provided at the end of service. This family-friendly restaurant always make us feel at home.“

“Very pleasantly surprised. We always eat at Fortune Star Buffet in Monroeville but decided to try this place cuz it's closer to us.
The buffet has relatively few selections (Fortune Star has a ginormous variety of dishes) but the QUALITY/TASTE of the food is WAY above Fortune Star.
My personal favorites were the spring rolls (I ate four where normally I eat only 1 or 2 max) and the General Tsao's Chicken: amazingly delicious whereas all other General Tsao's I've had is so-so at best.
We'll still eat at Fortune Star just due to its massive selection of buffet options but we will def be back to this one just for the proximity and the quality/taste of the food.
We lucked out and found a paid parking spot right across the street ($3.15 for an hour; paid via the Pay By Phone app.)“

“I recently visited this Chinese café-restaurant, and I was really impressed! Their wonton soup and hot and sour soup are absolutely delicious—rich in flavor and perfectly balanced. The dish in the photo is orange chicken, which was incredibly tasty, especially with brown rice. Every bite was full of flavor, and the texture was just right.
Another great thing about this place is that they have an electric charging station, so for some people, it’s a great way to do two things at once—enjoy a delicious meal while charging their car. Overall, this place serves amazing food, and I highly recommend it.“

“This was my first time ever stopping into the restaurant. I am very picky about my Chinese food. The establishment cleanest and surrounding is important to me. If I see any signs of uncleaniness I am out the door. So I am impressed so I ordered. Watched how they prepared my food and others impressed. So took my food which was done at the time they told me. I got home and the food was great and delicious. So they will see me again since it alot closest to my home.“
“I’m rating this five stars because of several reasons. First of all, there are very few options for fast food around this neighborhood. Also, most of the options within a block or two are questionable at best in terms of quality, consistency, and price. Parking is a kafkaesque nightmare around here too so if I am forced to choose fast food, my most frequent choice is here. Hunan is not amazing for the price, but it is basically exactly the same every time, and it’s hot. If you’re willing to pay $18, you can get a filling and satisfying yet greasy meal. I always go for the fried rice, chicken, and broccoli and maybe egg rolls. Like I said, it’s outrageously priced but at least you know you are getting a lot of ok quality food instead of rolling the dice with other nearby options.“

“The best General Tso's Tofu in PGH that I've found, and I'm pretty particular. I'm so sad that I no longer live super close to this place. I've never had a bad experience with their food or the people there; they've always been very kind.“

“Overall we had such a good experience here and it was our first time visiting. Our family of six ordered 4 kinds of sushi, the amazing chicken (very good!), sesame chicken (good but too sweet for me) and all the kids had lo mein. We had a decent amount of leftovers to take home for lunch the next day. My kids loved the sushi and enjoyed watching the remote move around. There’s a ton of parking and the restaurant is easy to get to. We will be back!“

“Visiting from out of town. We live in central PA so there’s not much Japanese food. When it’s cold out katsu curry just hits the spot and theirs is absolutely delicious. Loved how the spice builds and the rice soaked up the curry. The beni shoga is delicious on top of curry dipped bites of katsu“

“Ordered their General Tso’s (white meat) and it was hands down the best General Tso’s I’ve ever had. I had their chicken and broccoli before, which was also sooo good, but this was definitely a pleasant surprise. Will definitely be ordering here more in the future!“
“This place is hilarious. From my understanding the store is closed and they self-doordash to CMU.
You order by texting them on wechat from the couple options they have and they drive down to CMU everyday and meet you on campus in tepper to hand over your food like uberats.
My meal was 12 dollars for a tea, pork ribs, bok choy, shrimp, scrambled eggs and tomatoes and rice. It was delicious and incredibly cheap proportional to volume of food
10/10 would meet in the Tepper School of business alley again“
