“Over the past many years since their doors opened. I have had nothing less of the finest, tantalizingly delicious food I have ever had the opportunity to enjoy throughout my life. Having traveled Europe multiple times and sampled some of the finest cuisines throughout. This restaurant stands with the best of them and even above some. The care taken in the preparation and presentation of theit dishes is top tier and that's putting it in short form. Now the service and staff. The level of professionalism and dedication in their staff is unmatched in my opinion. I have never once been not wowed by their attentiveness and warm compassionate energy. Even those I have had the chance to treat them to an incredible evening there have been awe struck. I offer my sincere and honest thanks to all the kitchen staff for their unwavering commitment and dedication to their trade. Not to forget now the unmatched waitstaff who I have had the opportunity and gift to meet and be served by. An unparalleled service and experience from every single one of them. “Loved the vibe at this wine bar. Their shared plates menu is wonderful and the quantities are just right. For a wine bar/ restaurant, would’ve expected a sommelier to come and discuss some options as their wine list is pretty awesome. At the end, their suggestion conveyed through the waitresses eas excellent.
Food was great. Can get loud in this place depending where you sit.

“What a wonderful find in Old Montreal!!! Patrick was a generous and charming host. We tried a Porto white wine that was new to us and also crudo-that was outstanding, and goat cheese toast with anchovy or sardine on top. The sauce from the crudo was so delicious it demanded bread to dunk, which was gladly provided to us. We are new fan favorites of Portuguese foods we hadn’t tried before and of this place especially.“

“Great Place…and atmosphere!“

“So, this review is a little different from most, because people often come to a place one time experience a good thing and drop a positive review. I on the other hand expect consistency and I am a little on the OCD side, especially when I travel. That just means I find the restaurants that I like and I have been known to eat the same meals two days in a row. One of the things that stands out immediately to me is that for the most part you have the same staff working dinner or evening shifts as you do the brunch on Saturday and Sunday. This makes for long days but it produces consistency. Timeliness and courtesy are number one for the ladies on the floor. Attention to detail is critical to the men on the cookline, as each plate comes out as an arrangement of food, not simply a pile of ingredients. I was in Montreal for a conference from Friday to Sunday so I was able to eat 2 dinners and 2 brunches, and I have to say they were quite exceptional. I do give the brunch a slight tip of the cap for being more consistent of the two meals and having the best consistency with the Big Brunch, the Americano, and the fresh squeezed juice. It is probably one of the best breakfast/brunches I have had since Verviers, Brussels in 2019. The Big Brunch consisted of fried sunny side up eggs, a sausage, fried potatoes with hollandaise, cubed fresh tomato, sourdough toast, fresh Americano, and fresh orange and grapefruit juice. The flavors work together to complement each other with the eggs having been lightly peppered by the chef and maybe fried in the salty fat from the sausage to give them the right amount of seasoning. Dinner the first day I had a beer and a ribeye prepared medium rare with pepper seasoning and a brown gravy accompanying the pureed potatoes. The steak was cooked perfectly. The next night I had the charcutier meat with sourdough, which was a nice assortment of the traditional fare one might find. It would have been nice to have found a smaller plate that include both meat and cheese. I did have a bottle of the California 2020 Elizabeth Spencer Cab and it paired well with everything, sometimes a little fruity and others a little spicy depending on how the notes hit the palette. Dinner was the same as the night before, but although the ribeye was ordered medium rare it came out more to medium. That was a little disappointing, but still satisfying in the end. To finish my meal I had the brownie with pecan crumble and sauce which finished off the bottle of Cab perfectly. This morning I had an amazing brunch again, and now I must say adieu as I head to the airport to return home.“

“I chose L'Octo for an afternoon date. The restaurant is lovely, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Our waitress was excellent—very attentive, she answered all our questions, and recommended several great dishes that we truly enjoyed. The food was delicious, and I especially loved the presentation. Being able to share the meals made the experience even more pleasant. The prices are also very reasonable. The only small negative was the parking situation, but overall, I had an excellent evening with great food and company. I definitely scored points by choosing L'Octo!“

“After several visits in just one month, I can say that this café is officially one of my favorites in Montreal, especially for studying? The individual tables are large enough to accommodate 2 computers and there are numerous sockets. The place is also very aesthetic with its high ceiling and its shrubs which bring serenity. The entrance is quite discreet, which enhances the experience. I tried the mocha and the pumpkin spice latte as well as the tomato soup and the grilled cheese, everything is very tasty. I can only highly recommend this address!!“

“Mushroom salad was very salty, the pork dish did not look like what I've seen online what we were very tiny pieces not the thicker juicy pork i was expecting. Ultimately the overseasoning of the mushroom salad kind of made the whole experience feel very intense with salt. Our server was fantastic and did a amazing job.“

One of the sinks was missing soap and lots of graffiti in the washroom. I know they want to support local artists but not really a fan of the works on display which were all the same style.“

“La Traversée is the restaurant adjacent to the Bota-Bota spa. I loved that they had vegetarian options and alcohol-free drinks. The food was great, but the portions are small for the price. I would suggest a appetizer and a main. The service was great and friendly.
