Customer service is top-tier, and the owner goes above and beyond to make sure every guest feels welcome. The curry goat? Always on point. The ackee and saltfish egg rolls? A creative must-try. And don’t even get me started on the genius-level jerk chicken patty—it’s truly the talk of the town. Finish it all off with their Rum & Raisin ice cream, and you’ve got a perfect meal from start to finish. Honestly, everything on the menu is a five-star experience. Try it all—you won’t be disappointed.”

“Here the bagels are soft, hot and presumably fresh from the oven. These are the best Montreal bagels I have had on this trip (out of an admittedly small sample) . Be aware that there is no place to sit down, so you should eat them on the way to your next destination for maximum freshness.”

“Whenever I visit my mother in Côte Saint-Luc, I stop by Maxies to buy a few containers of chicken soup or matzo soup, and sometimes bread or other baked goods. I really appreciate how hard-working the older gentleman (and I presume owner) is behind the counter. He's welcoming and friendly. I'm always happy to support this local business.”

“One of the best meals we had in Montreal, and we particularly enjoyed the Bluefin Tartare, Maitake, and Kohlrabi. The sauce used for the Kohlrabi had a nice spicy punch which was really nice. The Grassfed Angus Beef was juicy and tender too!

“Expectations were extremely high given all the recent accolades and I have to say I was ready to be disappointed. Marco, Jessica, Vanya, and their wonderful team blew my expectations out of the water.

Dishes like the foie cookies with habanada jelly, and the conserve leeks with fermented chips and mussel mayo are nostalgic in flavour, but creative and fun in their execution.

Their wine list is nothing short of impressive, with many references you’d have a hard time finding outside of a passionate collectors personal cave. Prices are also very reasonable by the glass relative to most wine bars around.

Atmosphere is what you hope for with Montreal dining; far from pretentious but very attentive and warm.

We left having gone through half the menu, and I did not feel heavy or overly full at all.

“I've been wanting to experience Joe beef for a very long time. As you walk in, it felt very cozy and welcoming, as we were greeted by this very friendly hostess. The staff were efficient, and our waiter was great as well. He explained the menu in detail. We wanted to share some of the dishes as I knew it would be way too much food, and also because we've also ordered some appetizers. We took home so much food home, the portions for the shareable dishes were very generous. The wait for the food was on the longer side, as well as for the cocktails. Overall, the food was delicious, but my expectations were high, and I think I've expected a tad more, in some of the dishes.”
