“Pub. We go there for breakfast. Welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Many frequented by regulars, children and families welcome. Fresh egg dishes, nothing too fancy but delicious, pancakes or thin pancakes, French toast, maple syrup, everything is good. The prices are very reasonable. No Interac but private counter in the square. Cash and credit accepted. Free street and rear parking. I go back there often. I recommend.”

I'll be craving the food here long after I've left. The service was impeccable, everyone there was genuine and warm, making us feel incredibly welcome. They were wonderful to have a conversation with and gave amazing recommendations. Absolutely some of the nicest people in the industry. I can't recommend Vin Mon Lapin enough, a truly magical experience!”

“Stopped by for a late lunch last Saturday and ended up completely floored by the duck in a can, which the server actually cracked open tableside and it smelled incredible. The dining room has this cozy, wood paneled energy that photographs beautifully in the afternoon light coming through the front windows, so I couldn't help snapping a few shots before digging in. Staff were friendly and didn't rush us even though we lingered for almost two hours chatting and taking pictures of the plates. Portions are huge, the foie gras poutine is genuinely worth the hype, and I'm already planning a return trip with a wider lens.”

“I solo travel at least once a year and decided to come to Montreal for the first time over my birthday weekend. My first meal/birthday dinner was at Le Vin Papillon and I can’t express what a wonderful experience I had. The mushrooms might be the most incredible dish I’ve ever tasted (I will likely dream about them) and the ham was equally delightful. I sipped on the Martinez Rose (delicious but very strong- do not order if you’re a lightweight). 😂. The staff surprised me with a carrot cake ice cream sandwich and while I don’t typically enjoy carrot cake…this was next level.

More importantly, the staff was superb. They were so welcoming and attentive. I’d love to give a special shout out to Flo- thank you for your kindness and for making my birthday dinner so special.

“I had a lovely solo dinner at Limbo. The staff were fantastic from start to finish, taking the time to patiently walk me through the menu and share thoughtful recommendations.

The pork with raw shrimp was easily the star dish, beautifully prepared and full of flavor. The other two plates I tried were pleasant enough, though they didn't quite leave the same impression.

Overall, wonderful hospitality and a great, welcoming atmosphere for dining solo. They offer half sizes for solo diners so you can pick a few plates to try.

The menu changes daily so I'd be interested in coming back at another time where it's more meat or seafood forward. I'm not a veggie person, so others who are will undoubtedly enjoy the food more than I did.”

“I had really high expectations for Restaurant Monarque and was hoping it would completely blow me away. While the food was delicious, the overall experience fell just slightly short of what I would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Service was the main area that didn’t quite meet expectations. After being seated, we waited about 10 minutes before receiving menus and had to ask for them. Throughout the meal, interactions felt a bit rushed - several staff members who stopped by the table were somewhat brief, and on a few occasions, items like bread or water were dropped off while we tried to ask questions, but the busser had already walked away. That said, the restaurant was quite busy during lunch, so it’s possible the pace and attentiveness were impacted by that. As for the food, we ordered the albacore tuna appetizer along with the strip loin, butcher’s cut, and duck for our mains. Everything was well-prepared, though the duck portion was noticeably small. Desserts were a highlight - especially the pavlova with maracuya, which was excellent. Our server Laura was professional, though not very engaging until the very end of the meal when we were settling the bill. I would still return, as the food is strong, but I have to say that Bar George left a more lasting impression on us in terms of both food and service.”
