“I’ve been going there for years, the owner Irene is extremely friendly and very kind to my family. They are amazing and make very consistent great sushi. Their quality standards to me resemble high end sushi restaurants like Maiko.”

Depuis la pandémie, ils ont perdu l’art de faire une bonne pizza. Cela fait 3 ou 4 fois que leurs croûtes sont littéralement carbonisées, non pas avec une ou deux bulles noires mais au moins 5 ou 6… croûte pas mangeable et dangereusement Malsaine. Cela n’a pas été mon expérience ailleurs incluant au Pizzeria No. 900. Bien dommage! J’espère que vos cuisiniers pourront trouver un juste milieu entre dorée et brûlée. “I'm surprised at the low ratings. We actually had a great experience. We ordered the smoked meat club and the pasta. Both were really good. I think it was a husband and wife duo running the place. They took their time prepping the order and I could see them doing it. All clean and well done. Portion sizes were good. Overall we enjoyed our meal!”

“We had a lovely evening at Foxy last evening from the moment we were greeted to when we left. We sat at the bar where Enzo made sure we were comfortable and well informed of the items on the menu as well as the freshness of the products sources locally.
He made very well informed wine suggestions to maximise the enjoyment of our meal. The beef tartare is the best, we order this regularly in others restaurants, that we have had. The caveleti with clams was a dish to crave enough to be back for another visit.

“As Mon Lapin is ranked as the 2nd best restaurant in Canada and the 5th best in North America, it is natural that there is a lot of hype around it. We booked a month in advance, such is the demand for table. On the other side of the coin, you will see some (few) reviews from customers which are on the negative side. Whether these are authentic is hard to say, but perhaps the hype invites Contrary Mary's to have their say - the hype who would complain about the sky being blue and the grass being green.

What is easy to say is that my partner and I had, without a doubt, the most enjoyable dining experience of our lives last night. We opted for the sharing menu, which features some items from the menu and some surprises. Our server, Nino, was incredibly accommodating, and while we are not fussy, nor have any allergies, he was scrupulous in his efforts to ensure that we would be served dishes which were to our taste. He also talked us through several wine options, without a hint of pretentiousness, and made us, two run-of-the-mill teachers from the back end of Scotland feel very much at home in this borderline fabled restaurant with his easy going, funny, yet professional manner. Mon Lapin, if you are reading this, Nino deserves a raise - he is terrific.

The food speaks for itself. The only dish not pictured here is the fried pasta with sopressata and radicchio (which was wonderful, we simply forgot to take a picture). We started off with clams, sea urchin and tomato, all of which were an absolute flavour bomb, though fresh and light enough to not totally dominate our dining experience from minute one. They were a delightful prelude to the slightly more rich yet incredible sopressata and radicchio pasta dish.

Our next plate was a medley of tomatoes and tuna accompanied by Mon Lapin's renowned scallion toast. The scallion toast reminded me of home, a very classy fish and chips type vibe. It was light and melted in our mouths. The tomatoes and tuna, however, were on another level. The flavour and freshness that this dish brought were unlike anything I have ever tasted before. It really blew me away and for me, was the star of the show.

Also pictured are our spinach and ricotta pasta, which was just incredible, the duck breast and leg which came with a plum and beetroot sauce and a cabbage salad - tremendous - and our sensational dessert, a sort of salted caramel tiramisu cake (I think with caramelised onion?) and these delightful wafers which dissolved in our mouths.

I also want to compliment the pace of service. I feel that, at times, when dining at a small plates restaurant, service can be too rushed and you don't get the time to enjoy and digest each course. This is not the case at Mon Lapin, who pace their service to allow you the time to enjoy your experience there. It was a wonderful place to spend an evening.

I can't say anything that will do this place justice - you have to try it for yourself. But if you have an open mind and a hungry belly, you will have a truly wonderful time. I haven't tried every restaurant in Canada or North America to comment too much on the rankings, but this is the best restaurant that I have ever visited. Thank you to the chefs at Mon Lapin and to Nino for giving my partner and I such a wonderful memory.”

“Stopped by the pied de porc farci a couple weeks ago on a quiet Tuesday evening and the whole place still had this warm, slightly chaotic energy that made for great candid shots. The duck in a can they prepare tableside is as rich as everyone says, and I managed to snag a nice low angle photo of the broth being poured right at the table. Our server was genuinely funny and patient while I fiddled with my camera settings between courses, never once rushing us. The dark wood interior and low lighting are tough for photos but honestly add so much character to the whole experience.”

“I had really high expectations for Restaurant Monarque and was hoping it would completely blow me away. While the food was delicious, the overall experience fell just slightly short of what I would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Service was the main area that didn’t quite meet expectations. After being seated, we waited about 10 minutes before receiving menus and had to ask for them. Throughout the meal, interactions felt a bit rushed - several staff members who stopped by the table were somewhat brief, and on a few occasions, items like bread or water were dropped off while we tried to ask questions, but the busser had already walked away. That said, the restaurant was quite busy during lunch, so it’s possible the pace and attentiveness were impacted by that. As for the food, we ordered the albacore tuna appetizer along with the strip loin, butcher’s cut, and duck for our mains. Everything was well-prepared, though the duck portion was noticeably small. Desserts were a highlight - especially the pavlova with maracuya, which was excellent. Our server Laura was professional, though not very engaging until the very end of the meal when we were settling the bill. I would still return, as the food is strong, but I have to say that Bar George left a more lasting impression on us in terms of both food and service.”

“Delicious meal was delicious. The staff were even better!

We started with the seafood platter, then followed up with the lobster pasta and steak with foil gras. We were unsure what to order for drinks so the staff decided to get us a cocktail based on our preference and offered it to be free if we didn't enjoy the drink. They made sure to get the drinks right, even taking it back to make adjustments based on our taste. This made us feel like a priority.

A beautiful establishment that I would recommend to anyone looking for a fancy meal!”

“This restaurant is a gem. The menu isn't long, but the selection was interesting. I had the foie gras de pintade (rich, generous portion) followed by a half portion (which the restaurant allows) of the magret de canard (cooked just right). Gâteau mollet du Marquis de Béchamel (like a rich flan) was my dessert — outstanding. I look forward to future visits.”
