“Finally got around to trying out the new Barrington location and it was nothing short of amazing! We got there on a rainy Sat night - called ahead to see if they took reservations but were told no and that there should be no wait. We got there shortly after and were promptly seated and serviced. The new spot is def a few steps up from the old spot - updated, modern and airy. Meaghan was our waitress and was wonderful - as was all the staff. It was outstanding friendly service and efficient all at the same time. We started with the loaded tater tots and the octopus special. The octopus was cooked wonderfully and the tots were a fun appetizer to share - reminds me of my elementary school lunch if I was Richie Rich. But the spotlight goes to our entrees - I got the chicken parm with fresh rigatoni and the pink vodka sauce and he ordered veal parm with fresh bucatini and pink vodka sauce (how unoriginal ). Both were delicious! I love me a good vodka sauce and fresh pasta - my rigatoni was maybe 20 seconds short of being al dente but I'd prefer a tad harder vs soggy floppy pasta. The bucatini however was perfecto! The mister said it was one of the best veal parms he's ever had and that's a tall order to fill! All drinks were creative and tasty! And with how delicious dinner was, we had to get some dessert and they didn't disappoint! We were way too full and took the rest of dessert to go. With the nightmare that is the Washington Bridge debacle - this is a great place to support more locally, you won't be disappointed! No need to go to the Hill for some good Italian (they do serve up Portuguese fare as well) when we've got a great spot in our backyard! With apps, drinks, dinner and dessert - tax + tip was close to $200 but well worth every penny!“

Everything we ordered was good. No complaints. Very flavorful and filling. I love how they also have Curated Tin options, so you can try different tinned fish. We were tempted to sit outdoors at one of the nice streetside tables but opted instead to sit inside at a cozy corner table. Moments after being seated, we were greeted by Nino, the restaurant owner, who was incredibly warm and friendly. During our conversation, Nino mentioned that he had trained and worked in Japan for 12 years before opening Somo. Nino's authentic Japanese experience was evident in the amazing flavors and creative presentation of the dishes. We planned to take some food home but..... the food was just too good. Sapphire Cocktail Bar •
18 Bassett St, Providence - 7.5 miles

“We attended a Maison Ferrand cognac seminar & tasting the other night at Sapphire & it was such a fun & unique experience for us. The staff at Sapphire (Melissa, Marc, & Shiv), as well as the guest bartender (Vannaluck), went above & beyond to make the experience interactive & memorable. We were greeted immediately with a French 75 made with cognac - Did you know that the original French 75 called for cognac, as well as many other classic cocktails? No? Neither did I. The welcome aperitif was a great lil' treat to kick the night off with. We were given a mini charcuterie selection to keep us busy until the main event, which began about 20 minutes after we arrived. Vannaluck talked us through the history & characteristics of cognac. We were given 3 small pours of different cognacs to taste as well as a serendipitous, bonus mini pour at the end. Throughout the night, the kitchen sent out a variety of tapas that UTILIZED COGNAC. Cognac glaze, reduction, brine, etc. Fascinating! I went in knowing next to nothing about cognac & left with a decent understanding of the spirit. I've always wanted to do something like this, & Sapphire made it extremely accessible. It was also amazingly affordable. I'm really looking forward to more events like this one. Sign me up, please.“

Loved that this outdoor space is child-friendly. They host events here on weekends so I can imagine, the space fills up quickly. I stopped by for breakfast on a weekday and there was a line to order food and drinks, but the service was effortless and quick. Food was tasty. The one thing I will point out is the smoothies are not made of fresh fruit/veggies, I was bummed by that. They use flavored concentrates. Parking in the front is limited, but there is a sign pointing to extra parking toward the back.“

“Bottom line: a delightful French bistro with absolutely delicious food, a casual, cozy vibe, and an excellent value. Something different in the East Bay. An underappreciated gem. We’ve been going to Le Central for a few years and recently rediscovered just how good it is. The vibe is French bistro, complete with black and white checkerboard floors. It’s casual, relaxed, and cozy. It feels like French comfort food. The menu is thoughtful and amazing for how truly delicious the offerings are. It’s a ‘who’s who’ of some of the best French dishes, without pretense or weirdness (no snails or frogs legs). Starting with the table bread, half of a baguette, perfectly toasted and partly sliced, with soft butter and some olives on the side. The onion soup is full of melted Guryere cheese, caramelized onions, rich beef stock, and toasted baguette slices, served in a ramekin. It’s perfect and utterly irresistible. Pair it with a salad and it’s a meal. The Salad Nicoise has perfectly cooked green beans, roasted fingerling potatoes with butter and parsley, roasted red peppers, a bed of arugula, a nice filet of perfectly poached salmon, and a mouth-watering lemon-caper compote. It’s hearty enough as a main course for lunch or dinner, and is deliciously satisfying (and I’m not usually a salad person). The hamburger might be one of the best you’ll have. A hand formed patty of organic beef on a toasted Brioche bun, served simply with tomato and lettuce, cheese (cheddar, Guryere, or Roquefort) and applewood smoked bacon optional, and a side of ultra-thin and super-crisp potato frites (too good to be called mere ‘French fries’). We love burgers, and both think this is hands-down the best we’ve had in the area (it’s the spiritual opposite of Chomp burgers which are excellent in their own right but very different with many heavy, spicy additives that make for a ‘wet’ burger). Le Central’s hamburger stands on its own simply with the highest quality ingredients prepared perfectly (like the rest of the food).Coq au Vin (chicken with wine) was a revelation. A half of a Cornish game hen (breast, leg, and thigh), braised in burgundy wine, served in a crock brimming with mushrooms, sauteed onions, and bacon, in a rich, thick, velvety stock, and a side of roasted fingerling potatoes. Just the smell made my mouth water before even taking the first bite! It was heavenly, deeply satisfying, and very hearty and filling. There are always some specials, often including an omelet. Recently we’ve had asparagus and brie, and mushroom and Guryere, variations. They were spectacular, served with a side of potato frites. They turn brunch into a special experience and feel decadent despite the modest price. They offer a full brunch menu that looks yummy, though we haven’t (yet!) tried it.Desserts are homemade. Our favorite are the Rochers (“rocks”), chocolates like turtles. Dark chocolate filled with the specialty of the day, various nuts and fruits. Order at least one if you’re stuffed and don’t think you can fit in anything else, but a plate of 4 goes down easily with tea.The drink list is massive. In the spirit of a French bar there are dozens and dozens of liquors of every kind. A nice offering of about 20 wines (French of course), every one we’ve ever had has been a winner. Some beers, and even several ciders, apple and pear varieties, from Normandy! This area has tons of typical bars/pubs/taverns, seemingly one on every block, along with Portuguese (Portuguese-ish) and Italian restaurants. Le Central stands out, both for being unique in offering a great selection of the best of the best of French foods, and for the amazingly high quality and reasonable prices. It’s one of the great, underappreciated secret gems of the East Bay area. If it was in Boston the prices would be more than twice as high and people would be raving about it.We’ve been finding it hard to go more than a week between visits.“

The ladies that work here are all tremendous, Polite, professional and know how to make a damn drink. Not only can they hold a conversation but the people that come into the bar can too. All around a great bar with great people and great drinks. Support this place because they deserve it and you will appreciate it too. I’m new to Providence and the place in a whole made me feel welcome!!!!“

“Great drinks! My friend had the pineapple passion which the bartender made when she said she has a huge sweet tooth, and the bartender made me a cocktail when I said I like semi-sweet and bitter drinks and it was fantastic!! Apricot syrup, peach blossom vodka, and citrus. Cute place!“

“A great neighborhood bar with a nice selection of ice cold beers, TVs, pool tables, and dart boards. I have never had the food, but other patrons seem to like it.It is also one of the only bars in Bristol that will turn the music down and TV up so you can see and hear a sports game.P.S. Not meant for snowflakes like Nimby Pimby.“

“So I have to say I am really pleased that Diego’s has got its groove back. I was there in June for a disastrous brunch and we left aft 45 minutes of a really bad experience. I mention this as the owner must have cleaned house. I was there on Sunday for brunch and I can not help but to describe the experience as phenomenal. The service - impeccable. It was almost as if the waitress knew when our drinks were almost empty every time. She also had some great recommendations related to the food and drinks. The food - phenomenal. We had the crack fries as an appetizer and it was not only great but the portion large enough that I had trouble finishing my actual meal. And the special - I had the Chicken Benedict. The only thing I can say bad about it was it was so big I couldn’t finish it. Everything about it was perfect - it had a little zing, the cornbread was a perfect alternative to an English Muffin, and the chicken so good. So my compliments to the owner and staff. I don’t see my review from June but I’m sure they remember it and changes were made. We decided to give it another try and I will I say this without hesitation… this was probably one of the best brunch meals I have had in a long time. Well done - we will definitely be back.“

“Great all around experience. Smoked wings and brussel sprouts were terrific, wonderfully seasoned and cooked to perfection. Pulled pork, brisket and chicken sausage were all great in their own way with nice blends of flavor and a good mix of crisp and tender bits of pork and brisket. The food didn't need extra sauce, but it did add a little to the pork. Finally, we all agreed that the skillet cornbread was amazing and would be worth doubling up on in the future!“

“I adore Bellini. Whenever I decide to dine there, I know I will be treated to a great dining experience. Everyone I've encountered has been so friendly and accommodating, and the very few times something has gone amiss, they rectify it immediately in a very generous way. The restaurant is beautiful, and feels straight out of an episode of Mad Men. I feel incredibly calm once seated as the lighting is just right. And the food! Everything I've had has been delicious, but my favorite dish is the Pappardelle "alla Bellini" which is simple, but rich, and very flavorful. The namesake drink is to die for and is a perfect accompaniment to your meal. Save room for dessert because the Vanilla Gelato with nuts and chocolate sauce is unreal and is big enough for three. I'm so glad we have Bellini in Providence so I can continue to enjoy all it has to offer!“

“We discovered Basta recently looking for authentic apvn certified Neapolitan pizza. We've been back three times including most recently with friends for more than pizza. The food is fantastic, the drinks are delicious, the decor and atmosphere is amazing. People say it's loud, and it is, but I for one love that kind of energy and conversation around while eating. Maybe it's because I'm Italian! The lounge is large and clean with lots of seats. Samantha is the manager and attentive and energetic. She's made the reservation process easy and enjoyable. Randi's been our server a couple times and is one of the best we've had at any restaurant. The bus staff is hustling all night and all have been polite, professional and attentive. Parking is behind with plenty of room and a back door entrance for ease. I have to recommend Basta as a better experience than Federal Hill because of the better food, staff and ease of access and location. It's a beautiful little area too right off the water.“
