The owner Paul is so nice and his staff is so friendly. I'm always greeted with a smile.

I especially love getting a juice from here after yoga around the corner, but from time to time I'll get a smoothie or the coconut bacon BLT. The BLT is just as good as real bacon, I think there's some kind of black magic involved in the recipe.

The atmosphere is nice, especially sitting out front and watching the people walk by. Very enjoyable on a nice sunny day.“

“Wow, a top New York City type restaurant in Newport. Forget the losers comments from years ago. Dress like you’re going first class. Atmosphere here is awesome…2nd floor is special. Drinks are reasonable and delicious. Our server PATRICK WAS AMAZING. They explain specials and drinks. Most attentive and all foods were perfectly presented. Wanna another drink, ask and within 2 minutes it’s there. We had wild mushrooms and salmon that were incredible as appetizers. Caesar salad was fresh and lettuce crisp. Scallops special had my wife shaking her head. My seafood linguine was overflowing with fresh seafood. The dessert of “Snowball from Hell” can be shared. Our 54th anniversary was unreal. “We enjoyed having breakfast at this wonderful place while in Newport, RI. The people who own it and those who work there are AMAZING, friendly, and take the time to talk to customers while keeping service at the top of their list. They (from the kitchen to the front door) look like they love working there and have created a loving family environment. Of course, the line was out the door and down the street, but that was okay because everyone enjoyed visiting each other. There is just one warning, the portions are enormous. You know when my husband can't finish it, it's a lot. 🤣“

We had become acquainted with Basil when we were all involved with a Boy Scout Troop in Manchester NH. We were disappointed to discover that Basil wasn’t at the restaurant, however we got over it when we found out it was due to a commitment to a fundraiser for the James Beard Foundation. “Steph and the team at scratch were SUPERB! Our catering order was perfect (tho we were sad the croissant machine was down) every thing was piping hot (or nice an cool). Everything was SOOO good. “Really good Thai food. We’re visiting from Cali, and we’re absolutely impressed. The food is so flavorful. Even as I’m typing this, my husband is highly complimenting the food. We had spring rolls and crab rangoons as appetizers. Probably the best we’ve had. We also had the yellow curry (labeled as pineapple curry), and drunken noodles. YUM! We just now ordered another crab rangoon because our 4 yr old son enjoyed them as well. The atmosphere is so cute and the workers here are sweet and helpful. DDH- Definitely dine here! : )“

“Everytime I’m in Newport, I make it a point to stop by The Red Parrot. Their food and drinks are always great! Unfortunately, I was there yesterday, ordered the sticky wings which are a favorite, looked like the kitchen just poured a container of sesame seeds all over them and were inedible. Bartender did comp one of our drinks, but could have offered to take them back for a new batch or even sent them back before he served them. Was definitely disappointing.“
