Which I get, just something to keep in mind when planning your visit. The food is totally worth every penny spent here.“

Drinks are reasonable and delicious. Our server PATRICK WAS AMAZING. They explain specials and drinks. Most attentive and all foods were perfectly presented. Wanna another drink, ask and within 2 minutes it’s there. We had wild mushrooms and salmon that were incredible as appetizers. Caesar salad was fresh and lettuce crisp. Scallops special had my wife shaking her head. My seafood linguine was overflowing with fresh seafood. The dessert of “Snowball from Hell” can be shared. Our 54th anniversary was unreal. “This is a hidden gem, in Newport. Made a reservation and even being a little late, with weekend Newport traffic, they held our table. The food was incredible, served hot and as ordered. I had the chicken and waffles,never had it served with loaded mashed potatoes and sausage gravy. I added the maple syrup. The chicken breast was tender and a nice thick piece with a delicious thin coating. The pearl sugar waffle was so good. The load mashed potatoes, served with chunks of bacon, not little pieces in the potatoes. It was so good and a very generous portion, no room for dessert. My wife had fish and chips, opted for sweet potato fries. Serval pieces of lightly battered fish and as requested crispy sweet potatoes, half the order went home with her. The food and the restaurant were a definite, we are going back, but most of all Maddie B was the ultimate waitress, very friendly and professional. Every question and request was answered and taken care of. As busy as it was, Maddie made sure everything was as we needed. Can't wait to return.“

“We enjoyed having breakfast at this wonderful place while in Newport, RI. The people who own it and those who work there are AMAZING, friendly, and take the time to talk to customers while keeping service at the top of their list. They (from the kitchen to the front door) look like they love working there and have created a loving family environment. Of course, the line was out the door and down the street, but that was okay because everyone enjoyed visiting each other. There is just one warning, the portions are enormous. You know when my husband can't finish it, it's a lot. 🤣“

“Today we made a pilgrimage to Basil Yu’s restaurant, Yagi Noodles. My son happened to see that Basil had become a successful restaurateur while he was watching one of Guy Fieri’s shows. We had become acquainted with Basil when we were all involved with a Boy Scout Troop in Manchester NH. We were disappointed to discover that Basil wasn’t at the restaurant, however we got over it when we found out it was due to a commitment to a fundraiser for the James Beard Foundation. Basil, You weren’t there, but your food is delicious. You get the Merit Badge! You weren’t there, but your staff is spectacular! You get the Merit Badge! We wish you continued success! “Everytime I’m in Newport, I make it a point to stop by The Red Parrot. Their food and drinks are always great! Unfortunately, I was there yesterday, ordered the sticky wings which are a favorite, looked like the kitchen just poured a container of sesame seeds all over them and were inedible. Bartender did comp one of our drinks, but could have offered to take them back for a new batch or even sent them back before he served them. Was definitely disappointing.“

But on a REALLY RAINY Thursday night before Mem Day - it was really quiet we were one of 3 tables. Should have sat at the(empty) bar to watch the chef cook!! SHrimp Scampi was good, not the best, but better than many others. Needed a grind of fresh Parmesan. Husband had the tuna special. Also good. Prices fair. Worth the trip.“
