“Quite possibly the best meal I’ve ever had, in or outside of a restaurant. I had one of the specials, a Portuguese-style steak, which was cooked perfectly medium-rare. Juicy, smothered in a delectable sauce. The portion was incredible for the price. The service was perfectly paced, the staff were attentive and friendly. “Dan and I both grew up in Bangkok, and when we were teenagers, our respective families would take us to French restaurants. One of the dishes we both remember vividly was steak au poivre—perfectly cooked steak with that incredible creamy, brandy-peppercorn sauce. It was absolutely fantastic.

Ever since, we’ve been on a relentless quest to find steak au poivre that tastes the way we remember it.

We’ve tried it in Quebec. We’ve tried it all over New England and New York. We even tried it in France. Some have been good, some very good—but that traditional French flavor, especially that sauce, has always been just a little off.

Until last night. After decades of searching, we finally found it.

The steak. The whole peppercorns. The cream. The brandy. That rich, unmistakable sauce we’ve been chasing since Bangkok.

One bite and we looked at each other: THIS is it.

And where did we finally find the steak au poivre we’ve been searching for all these years?

The Capital Grille.

And it wasn’t just the steak. The creamed spinach, potatoes au gratin and creamed corn were all fabulous—and the bread was to die for. It was one of those meals where absolutely everything on the table was delicious.

And a special shout-out to our server, Pablo, who was exceptional and made an already wonderful dinner even better.“

“For a hotel restaurant, we were very impressed. We ate here three times. Twice for the breakfast buffet and once for drinks and lunch.

The breakfast buffet is excellent. Good coffee. They give each table their own pot. The fruit selection was great. They have fresh waffles, eggs, bacon, potatoes, French toast, cereal, breads, granola, Greek yogurt (I wish they had plain) etc.

The star of the show is the omelet station and the woman who works it. She is lovely. I forget her name - it starts with an S. Her omelettes are great and her warmth makes breakfast special. I think she is of African descent. We also had two wonderful servers - KC and I can’t remember the other. But they were excellent. They are attentive and friendly.

During lunch, Isaac was a one man show. He was tending the bar, he seated us, he took our order and brought us our drinks. Unbelievable. My son loved his chicken tenders. My wife had the mussels and I had the peach salad. Everything was great and we were pleasantly surprised.“

“Gia Ristorante Italiano Hubby & I had an amazing dinner last night at Gia's in Uxbridge! It was a last minute decision to go there, but so glad we did. It was a quiet night, cold outside, but inside they had a beautiful fire roaring, smelled so good. We both had amazing meals, waitress was very helpful, answering all our questions. I had the Lobster Ravioli which is what I get when it is available, so I have had this dish in a number of different restaurants. Pat's was the best that I have had.
