“It was an unplanned visit to High Cotton. Our party was very underdressed. The hostess was quite pompous and gave the impression we should go elsewhere. Obviously if it was a planned dinner we would have been well dressed. The food was exceptional. The staff were incredible. But our waiter, Jamal, made our experience very memorable. He made sure we were welcome despite our attire. Jamal and my 11 year old grandson became good friends for the evening. Jamal was impressed with my grandson's order of a pot of mussels in garlic sauce, smoked duck, lobster mac and cheese and strawberry shortcake. Jamal was the highlight of our evening. Our family highly recommend you ask for Jamal if you visit High Cotton. The next visit we will look our finest and definitely ask for Jamal.“

I’ve been fans of Kwei Fei since back in the days of their pop ups at The Daily. They’ve always brought the heat (literally) and have been eager to try this new venture, Beautiful South.

Stopped in for Sunday Brunch and it did not disappoint. The char siu fried rice had that familiar wok char and was on point! Also had the char siu bao, salt and pepper pork, and shumai. It brought back memories of dim sum in the Bay Area (big compliment) but without the old lady that gets mad when u don’t like what she has on her cart! ?

“I have been Rancho Lewis several times before and have always enjoyed it. It was a nice place to be on a cold and rainy day. Our server was attentive and the food was very flavorful. We were a group of ladies chatting and reminiscing and catching up with one another. All of us exclaimed over the large portion sizes. My Christmas Burrito was so large that I was able to have it for dinner. I will definitely go back.“

“Came for an early dinner with some friends before a show and was not disappointed. Located in a little pocket sort of near Hampton Park, expect to spend a minute circling the block to find parking. Renzo is unassuming but light and bright in a corner spot with tables and booths and a normal bar. We were early enough for unexpected Happy Hour specials (on a Saturday) and took full advantage - meatballs and discount cocktails. Meatballs were soft and moist and flavorful with 4 per order. Miso were better than the Roman (strong sauce with almost raw garlic) but we liked both. Drinks were all solid, from Happy Hour on. Get the guava-lychee drink. The rest of the menu is split into pizzas and not pizzas and we picked a few from both. The Caesar and most other dishes are perfectly portioned for one or to share amongst a table of four. We ended up having the Caesar, two “not pizzas”, the two orders of meatballs, and two pizzas and it was perfect for our group at a great price. Some dishes were a split like/don’t like (lemony potatoes & desserts), but as a whole we didn’t have a bad bite. A great spot for a little less than a la fancy pizza & pasta dinner, Renzo delivers.

We finished our lunch having been there a total of one hour , enjoying talk with nephew who we hadn’t seen in months when another employee rudely and abruptly said “so, are you ready to settle up?” Never have we felt like we were being ejected from a restaurant! And the real rub is there were at least 3 empty tables and a booth in our seating area. We three were so stunned by her rude manners, we politely gave her our card, (and she took the liberty of pre-selecting a 22% tip which we gladly gave our server)paid our bill and left - NEVER TO RETURN!“

Our waiter (drives up and down from Georgetown and has been with the company for 2- plus years) was wonderful, a great story teller, knows the food and the wine.
I ordered a famous nitrotini - you can read what it is on the website, but while it was good, I would just stick with a classic made drink.
We ordered Steak Tartar, Grilled Octopus, Onion Soup and Ecargot, all were great. For our main clourse, we ordered steaks and way too many sides (Portions are big, so no need to order too much). All in all a fabulous experience and we will be back soon.“

We are all a lively bunch, and he played the group based on our vibe. Var, was amazing in bringing out food and describing each dish, and I, personally know the talents of Vars cooking, but this was stellar. Gotta brag on my boys. The food, the service, the vibe was perfect. We were there for hours and it was perfect. The bar is great, I had amazing wine, and sangria, and rose, and the food was no disappointment. The charcuterie board was magnifique! 🤌 Go see Clinton and Var. You won't be disappointed!“

Instead of being cool back ground music that enabled you to listen if you were into it, or catch up with friends, he just blasted it. Unnecessarily loud which killed the Sunday afternoon vibe. And really weird considering games were on. Didn’t match the vibe of the place at all, it wasn’t 10pm on a Friday night, it was 1pm on a Sunday afternoon when you’re trying to chill peacefully before going back to work on Monday.“
