“It still breaks my heart being originally from Houston that Charleston doesn’t have the dim sum options, but this was one of the good ones. We started out with the Dragon sampler which was very good. I especially enjoyed the vegetable spring rolls. Amazingly fresh. I ordered the dim sum sampler which was very good (so much so that I ordered extra shumai and har gow). My roomie ordered the chicken lo mein which he liked a lot. The waitress was perfectly attentive and the atmosphere was well designed. I will recommend and return.“

“Leon's is literally in my dreams! My boyfriend and I went there for the first time three years ago. It blew our minds! Affordable, delicious food, and such a fun atmosphere. We returned a couple of times on the same trip. We live in NJ... and set up a trip last year JUST to go to Leons. I am actually scared to post a review because I selfishly want to keep it a secret for my boyfriend and I. Man, if you like chicken and oysters... you cannot go wrong. Damn, now I need to set up another trip. :)“

“Simply perfection! The oyster selection is otherworldly. The chargrilled oysters the best Ive had in my life. (Florida born an culinary chef.) The peel & eat shrimp so plump and served ice cold I have craved them since I had them. The service was above and beyond. The atmosphere encouraged private chatter but also conversation with next table easily. Friendly and cheerful and above all excellent food served with smiles, suggestions, and ease. I will never visit Charleston again without making sure to dine here. (Do not eat the soup. I actually sent it back to the kitchen. Never have I had to do that. ) Highly recommend again and again for everything else.“

The food is phenomenal - from the fried chicken to the burger to the steak, and everything in between. The beer selection is top notch. “We hosted our daughter and son in law's wedding dinner reception. We live in Virginia and planning this event from two states away was daunting, but Eli made planning flawless and easy, answering every nervous mother of the bride question promptly with so much interest and attention to detail. We had some food allergies that were handled with ease. The food was delicious, the private dining area was perfect, the patio cozy. The service was impeccable. This was such a memorable experience from planning to the bride and groom's send off. Perfect in every way!“

“I had exceptional service from Bar 167! The food came out really quick. I had the gyro chicken, which was delicious and my friend had the crab roll. She said it was very tasty. The only issue is parking down that way. We were lucky to find street parking but you may want to find a garage to avoid riding around in circles. Overall, great experience and I'll visit again whenever I'm in the area.“

“I have mixed feelings. Our first visit was over a decade ago and it was wonderful. Our anniversary was yesterday and it was an ok experience. We sat in the courtyard AB’s was placed under the above heater. We started smelling gas and the heat never reached the table area. So we were freezing. The appetizers were wonderful. The couple got seated next to us ten minutes after us and received their food first. Was told about different and best food options and a dessert menu. We were not given either. Bbq in the shrimp and grits was over powering any other flavor. Husband got fish and grits and it was excellent. Not a 0 but I’m in no hurry to go back or recommend to anyone else. Ruined my anniversary to be honest….“

“My husband got the mint chocolate chip frappe and LOVED it! And he’s picky! I got the iced dirty chai tea latte with cold foam and I’ve had many before, and it was not great. Tasted like cinnamon watered down milk and didn’t get cold foam at all so wasn’t too thrilled given the price I paid for it.“

“We had our Christmas Day meal at Poogan's Porch and it was delicious! The service was attentive and knowledgeable. The food was very good. They did not server their standard menu as it was Christmas. I had the Fritters, Beef Loin, and Banana Pudding. My dining partner had the She Crab Soup, Turkey Platter, and Pecan Pie. She said it was by far the best She Crab she has ever had and the Turkey was moist and delicious (tough to do with all white meat). My fritters were one of the best bites I have ever had. The Bacon Jam really made the dish shine. The beef loin was very classic Christmas and was fantastic. Banana pudding was one of the better I have ever had. We went back on Saturday to get one togo! Looking forward on trying Poogan's Porch again soon. We want to try the brunch menu! This place gets very busy and is in a super cute, but very old house. I would recommend reservations.“

“Amazing food! My family and I went here yesterday during our trip to Myrtle Beach based on some recommendations I saw online...and this place exceeded all expectations!! All of us were beyond satisfied with our meals. Delicious flavors and good portion sizes too! We said we will come back to Myrtle Beach (from PA) just to come back here 😂. Great service, nice atmosphere, and the food is absolutely amazing! We wanted to get photos of our meals but we were so excited to dig in when it came out that we forgot all about photos! “We had a lovely dinner at The James. I have a restricted diet and they wendy out if their way to make sure I was accommodated. There were 4 of us and everyone enjoyed our evening. Our server, Jessica was first class as were everyone we came in contact with. Would highly recommend The James.“

Obviously i'm well aware that the standards back home will be difficult to replicate however the 'hand cut' chips, the batter for the cod, along with the size of the cod were all decent enough and, dare I say it, as good as you'll get over here.“
