“What can I say to express my satisfaction. 5 stars is not enough. I don’t live around here, and while in town, came for a small morning snack. I don’t like cream cheese unless it’s on a plain bagel (not toasted) and it can only be Philadelphia brand. Weird, I know, but that’s just how it is for me.
They make their cream cheese in house so I thought I’d give it a try.
And let me tell you the experience I had was ✨incredible✨
I tried a small bite first.

The realization: Wasn’t bad… was actually good! First thought was there wasn’t a single thing bad about it. I added more on my bagel.

The acceptance: With every bite, I tasted another reason why this was the best cream cheese I had ever had (coming from a person who doesn’t like cream cheese). First it melts in your mouth like whipped butter on a roll, then it graces your tastebuds like a flower blesses your sense of smell and gives this delicate but well rounded premium cream cheese flavor.

The second realization: Before I could even get through a few bites I was overcome with the fact that this cream cheese was the answer to my original dislike of the food. I was falling in love. But as I mentioned, I don’t live anywhere near here. When I tell you, tears started welling up in my eyes that this was likely the last time I would get to eat this creamy miracle. I was straight up CRYING IN MY CAR. Full streams now and I couldn’t stop laughing at myself for getting so emotional over food.
I’ve never gotten emotional over food like this before. Maybe it’s the pregnancy hormones, but I like to believe that this bagel place just knows that to make good food, you have to start with high quality ingredients. Oof that sounds like a corporate slogan. *cringe* But I can’t think of better words to describe what’s going on in there when they make their food. Anyways….

TLDR: get the cream cheese. I laughed, I cried, I wish I lived next to this place so I could get fat off their from-scratch bagels. 10/10 would recommend.“

“Proper Bagel is the BEST bagel shop around! I have never seen so many freshly made cream cheeses to select from; my daughter and I are obsessed with the iced chai tea latte (it literally tastes like pumpkin pie); you’ll probably see a line, but don’t let that deter you! Their system works - line goes through quickly! It’s a must go-to!“

“I love it all. The Donut Den is an adorable, cleverly styled, gathering place with the ambiance of an old school diner! Owner, Dr. Fox, is the kindest man in all the land. His love for our community is baked into everything he, and now his son, put in their beautiful colorful cases. The Apple fritter is amazing🤩 Children seem to favor the sprinkles. But, the glazed donuts and donut holes are my fav. The team behind the counter is fun, and welcoming, contributing to this important Green Hills institution❣️“

“Great find. Excellent location. Breakfast sandwich and just a plain bagel were awesome. Coffee was okay, but didn’t take away from how much we enjoyed the food. Staff was friendly and happy to answer questions. Quick service considering how many folks were lined up. Definitely recommend!“

“THE ELEGY BURRITO- incredible. I eat it several times a week. The service can be a little cold, like you’re bothering them. But sometimes they’re really sweet! The coffee is pretty good, but I’ll usually get coffee elsewhere and the elegy burrito there. I just like a real strong, slightly sweet option straight off the menu generally. Love!“

“I had a craving for a good bagel but wasn’t very familiar with the bagel shops around Nashville, so after a quick search, I decided to give Star Bagel Cafe a try—and I’m certainly glad I did!
Upon entering, I immediately appreciated the variety. From cold-pressed juices and fresh-brewed coffee to pastries and, of course, an impressive selection of bagels, there was plenty to choose from. Several caught my eye, but I ultimately settled on the Maple French Toast Bagel.
I asked Milam, the associate assisting me, what he would recommend pairing with it. He politely explained that many customers simply choose regular cream cheese, but that he personally prefers butter. Then he mentioned their honey cinnamon butter—and I was SOLD!
The Maple French Toast Bagel with honey cinnamon butter, paired with a fresh-brewed coffee, was exactly what I needed to complete my morning meal. Delicious!
Great selection, great experience, and excellent customer service from Milam. I will certainly be returning and happily recommend Star Bagel Cafe to anyone looking for a good bagel and more.
