“Super tasty bacon egg and cheese breakfast taco. It’s approx 5 inch x 1.5 inch and cost $4. One was enough for me but a dude would want 2. The drip coffee was quite respectable, not burned in the slightest and they have real cream. Didn’t need any sugar.

I’ve begrudgingly embraced being called a foodie and coffee snob so I’m always pleased to find small local places doing great food/coffee.

“My wife visited here about 6 months ago and got coffee on her way to the airport and hasn’t stopped talking about it since. We’re here for New Years and she made sure we came by. I got an iced white mocha, which is better than anyone I’ve ever had anywhere else and we also shared a Biscoff cheesecake which was absolutely incredible. The staff is super friendly and the coffee is amazing, you can’t go wrong if you come check this place out.“

“As a barista myself, I am a bit of a coffee snob, but I have to say that this was one of the top 3 lattes I have ever had. Fresh & locally roasted beans, perfectly extracted espresso, fun menu with housemade syrups, friendly staff, great environment, plenty of seating, & free parking?? What more could you ask? “First: I’m extremely picky about my lattes. I am sensitive to overcooked (burnt taste) beans and undercooked (sour taste) beans. I have gone here repeatedly for iced lattes and they have always provided the perfect texture and balance. They are by far (and I don’t say this lightly) providing the BEST espresso in Nashville. Second: What truly makes this cafe great is that it’s the only cafe in town that makes you feel like you’re wanted. All of these cafes built in the last 20 years are hard, cold and sterile. If you’re younger than 40, you probably don’t even remember that cafes used to be warm, social, inviting and a home for many people. New cafes are so uninviting and I feel it’s done on purpose to get you to leave so more customers come in. But the Daily Grind? It’s homey, has couches, the walls are filled with all sorts of crafty love and plants and there’s a poster on the front that lets you know this is a SAFE space for all. It’s reminiscent of the old days when you had warm social spaces where you could spend hours every day with friends playing games, drawing, talking and no one glued to their phones. I hope this cafe gets to expand and provide even more of this nostalgic homey feel and bring that needed community experience back to Nashville. “I've now visited Verna for takeout coffee on the patio, brunch-in, happy hour in the front, and happy hour in the back. All were lovely, vibey experiences. The food menu offers fun twists on staples and the drinks (coffee & alcoholic) are incredible. The one place I remember visiting in Nashville as a teen was Coco, so you can only imagine my pleasant surprise when discovering this new place I love fills the shoes perfectly & is becoming its own really cool thing.“

“This is our absolute favorite place to visit when in Nashville. Our server, Destiny, is the best! Being from Eastern Europe, it just adds to the ambience of the experience. As soon as you walk into the door you are transported to Europe. The smells engulf you, as you walk by the most amazing dessert display. Do NOT pass up dessert! They have the most extensive coffee menu I have ever seen. If you’re looking for hair of the dog, you can add alcohol! We have never had anything bad here, every bite is divine! I highly recommend the Mexican hot chocolate, the avocado toast, and the rosemary potatoes (we dream of these).“

“My wife and I were exploring the historic Germantown neighborhood in Nashville on Sunday, October 4th, looking for a good Vietnamese coffee. We stumbled upon Em & Mẹ Vietnamese Café, and it turned out to be an absolute highlight of our trip!
We ordered their traditional Vietnamese Coffee and a Bánh Mì, and both were absolutely delicious. The coffee had that perfect, bold, authentic kick, and the bánh mì was fresh and packed with flavor. Our only regret was that we couldn't order more off the menu—we were still too full from eating breakfast at our hotel!
Beyond the food, the space itself completely surprised us. The decor feels like a cozy urban oasis, blending a deeply welcoming family courtyard with a stylish Saigon living room vibe. It’s incredibly charming, filled with greenery, and has a relaxed atmosphere that actually makes you want to sit back and stay a while.
We highly recommend Em & Mẹ for anyone in Nashville looking for fantastic coffee, great food, and a wonderful space to unwind. We will definitely be back on our next trip when we have an empty stomach!

“THE ELEGY BURRITO- incredible. I eat it several times a week. The service can be a little cold, like you’re bothering them. But sometimes they’re really sweet! The coffee is pretty good, but I’ll usually get coffee elsewhere and the elegy burrito there. I just like a real strong, slightly sweet option straight off the menu generally. Love!“

The space is small and gets very busy, which was obvious when we visited. Service was fine—efficient and professional, though not especially warm. That said, given how packed it was, it’s understandable.

I WISH I had a coffee shop like this where I live. I would never leave. Everyone seemed to know everyone that was local and they were so friendly with one another. “When we entered Stompin' Grounds for our Father's Day brunch we were greeted by Ha and let me tell you...that was the most energetic and happy greeting I have ever received at a restaurant and the whole party agreed!! Ha was fantastic, not just greeting us, but throughout the rest of the meal and our time at the restaurant! She was constantly coming around to make us smile, but not in an annoying way...she did it so well that we felt special and well taken care of and she really made the morning special. Not only was she funny and energetic, but she was also extremely heartfelt and sincere! Again, something I have never experienced before at a restaurant! The food and service were also incredible!! “What can I say to express my satisfaction. 5 stars is not enough. I don’t live around here, and while in town, came for a small morning snack. I don’t like cream cheese unless it’s on a plain bagel (not toasted) and it can only be Philadelphia brand. Weird, I know, but that’s just how it is for me.
They make their cream cheese in house so I thought I’d give it a try.
And let me tell you the experience I had was ✨incredible✨
I tried a small bite first.

The realization: Wasn’t bad… was actually good! First thought was there wasn’t a single thing bad about it. I added more on my bagel.

The acceptance: With every bite, I tasted another reason why this was the best cream cheese I had ever had (coming from a person who doesn’t like cream cheese). First it melts in your mouth like whipped butter on a roll, then it graces your tastebuds like a flower blesses your sense of smell and gives this delicate but well rounded premium cream cheese flavor.

The second realization: Before I could even get through a few bites I was overcome with the fact that this cream cheese was the answer to my original dislike of the food. I was falling in love. But as I mentioned, I don’t live anywhere near here. When I tell you, tears started welling up in my eyes that this was likely the last time I would get to eat this creamy miracle. I was straight up CRYING IN MY CAR. Full streams now and I couldn’t stop laughing at myself for getting so emotional over food.
I’ve never gotten emotional over food like this before. Maybe it’s the pregnancy hormones, but I like to believe that this bagel place just knows that to make good food, you have to start with high quality ingredients. Oof that sounds like a corporate slogan. *cringe* But I can’t think of better words to describe what’s going on in there when they make their food. Anyways….

TLDR: get the cream cheese. I laughed, I cried, I wish I lived next to this place so I could get fat off their from-scratch bagels. 10/10 would recommend.“
