“El Metate has very yummy burritos, the Burrito California is big! Very filling. Their caso is good too. It's not too watery, I see a lot of Mexican restaurants lately watering down their queso. It's very creamy, and their chips taste fresh and their salsa isn't too spicy, it's perfect! Sometimes when I go I get a quesadilla with shredded chicken. The workers are very nice and keep our drinks topped up. Parking can be a hassle, as that little plaza is very busy between El Metate and the businesses around it. A few times we've had to park in the walmart parking lot and walk over to El Metate. Not a big deal, although there was not a single handicap space available due to them all being taken. So be mindful of that if you go during busier times.Parking: Free parking, though during busier times may need to park in the walmart parking lot right next to El Metate.“

“First time there. It's a very small Mexican market with a built-in mini restaurant. Not a place for a date of fancy romantic dinner, just quick awesome food. I tried the Pastor and Barbacoa Tacos with a mildly spicy sauce....they were very very good. $2.75 per Taco. They sell beers from Mexico and Guatemala. I highly recommend them for a quick lunch or dinner. The whole menu looked fantastic. This is REAL Mexican stuff, not what you find in most places around here.“

“Party of 5 quickly seated, they super busy. Our waiter was at our table with plenty of hot chips and fresh salsa, he quickly had our drinks. There's a salsa bar with jalapeños and several different salsas. Typical menu for the restaurant, prices were a little better than other Mexican restaurants in the area. All of our food was good, with large portions and packed full of flavor. They do a daily lunch/dinner special with a soft drink. Domestic beer is $1.99 daily. My wife and I also visited on a Tuesday, where they had $1 soft/hard tacos beef or chicken.Overall, I would recommend giving them a shot. Great food, friendly staff. I will definitely be eating here again.“
“I passed this food trailer several times and finally decided to stop. The gentleman was friendly and courteous. The food was great. I got the Special Dinner which came with a taco, enchilada, chili poblano, tamales, and chalupa with rice and beans for sides. Huge amount of food for only $12.99!“

“Best place in Hixson to get great Mexican food. The flavor and especially the spice on the enchilad de deshibrada is perfect. This is also the only place in Chattanooga where I have found a Chile relleno that is made correctly. My go to spot for any time in craving “

“They boast the best Mexican in Chattanooga and I have to say, I have NEVER been disappointed there. (And there are a lot of Mexican restaurants in Chattanooga). The street tacos are are my fav. I got the pastor and chicken. Soooo delicious! The verde sauce they serve with them is the best verde sauce I've ever had. The Salsa (and chips) has just enough heat but not too spicy. Perfect balance. Service is always great, and the restaurant is always clean. Highly recommend!“

“Great food but the service is lacking. Older gentleman has waited on us multiple times. He was horrible each time. Very disinterested. Brought incorrect food. Items came out at different times. Had to ask for silverware. The food is great. In spite of the horrible service, we keep going back. Go figure.“

“Good food and plenty of options. We went at a really busy time of night but still got our food super quick! The waitress was either going through something or just not happy to be there. She walked off from us several times before we were finished ordering. She was very short with us and not very friendly. All the other servers were smiling and being really friendly with their tables. The chips and cheese dip were delicious. I got a combination plate that was good but keep in mind the combination plates don't come with sides. Enjoy!“

“This is one of the best Mexican restaurants in chattanooga. Service is friendly , professional, and fast. I have never been dissatisfied with anything I have ordered here. Caso is on point chips or crispy and hot. Salsa recipe is outstanding. Oh, and did I mention the Ranchero beans far better then the refried most places serve. I recommend the choose your own enchiladas. My favorite is 3 chicken enchiladas with lime rice and Ranchero beans.Try it you will not regret it!“

“Typical Americanized Mexican fare unless you're well, educated in specific things to ask for which greatly expands on your experience of dining there. Solid place, I put it in the middle-higher tiers of AmMex food in this area. Servers always treat us nicely, we always get our food rather quickly and the portions are quite sufficient for anyone unless you're just gluttonous. I would suggest it for those that want Mexican fare, but aren't quite food adventurous. For more authentic experiences, look for latin food based food trucks. They tend to have much more in the realistic fare and honestly is the best way to experience a taco. Anyways, place is solid and worth a 4/5 Star.Kid-friendliness: They always make sure my children are fed first and that means a GREAT deal to me.“

“We eat here a few times a month at least- it's our go to. We often will celebrate birthdays there as well, and I just met up with friends to do just that. We've never had a bad experience. Service is usually quick even when it's busy and everyone is friendly. I always ask for the spicier salsa, because I love HEAT and it hits the spot every time. My favorite dishes are chiles poblanos, the veggie chimichanga, fajita taco salad, and huevos albanil. Portions are super generous too, so you won't leave hungry!“

“The food was good, salsa was great, service was great & we had a large party of 9. My only complaint, which is minor, is they have live music & it was way too loud. The guy sounded great! No complaints on the music, just the volume. None of us were able to hear to be able to have a conversation with each other. We had to keep switching seats to sit right next to whoever we wanted to talk to. For such a small indoor space, he could have turned the volume down & easily have been heard & enjoyed throughout the restaurant. Good food though, we'll be back.“

“I placed a pick up catering order for 15. When I arrived, 15 mins before the store opened, I was warmly greeted by two employees. My order was neatly packed, complete, and ready to go. Very efficient, friendly and kind service by Michael, Drew and Charlie. Thanks much!“
