“We stopped here on our way back to Oklahoma from South padre. The atmosphere is really nice. I had the pulled pork burger with French fries and Mac & Cheese. All tasted amazing. Our waitress was attentive and nice. The food was super fast getting to our table.“

We pass it twice a day and have often laughed about it. Shame on me for violating my own premise that the best food comes from the most unassuming dive joints. We finally tried it and Holy Smokin' beef cheeks, Batman. The service is good and the people friendly. The barbacoa is super tender, flavorful and moist, without being greasy. It comes with whole avocados, pico de gallo, your choice of flour or corn tortillas. If you order flour you're doing it wrong. You can optionally get it with the requisite beverage, Big Red. If you order any other drink, you lose your Texican card. It doesn't matter if you hate Big Red as I do. Go Big Red or go home. It has all the ambience of being broken down in your car on the side of a busy highway intersection, which of course is exactly the ambience it should have. They also have tamales and menudo, but online reviews suggest Larry should stick to what he does best--The World's Best Barbacoa--and leave it at that. oh...they only take cash, so leave your credit cards at home, and mindya bizness about if he reports all of it to Uncle Sam. 5 out of 5 stars 🌟“

“Exceptional! Frank’s Tacos is an absolute gem on 3501 S Loop 1604 E. Everything was amazing — we all had the mini tacos, and they were packed with flavor and perfectly cooked. The salsa and charro beans were phenomenal and really brought everything together. You can tell they put pride into their food. Had a great meal , my soft chicken tacos were delicious ..My husband had enchiladas , he liked them ..just not crazy about carne Guisada gravy on them . “A Mexican restaurant at the end of the River Walk away from all the hustle and bustle of tourists and other restaurants. But make no mistake, this is a must visit restaurant if you want good Mexican food. We had Bloody Mary’s which were probably the best we’ve had. 7am the earliest is when they open now not sure why.

The food is actually very good from someone who has been many places globally.
The young man at the counter is very shy but kind and has to put up with the sometimey cook in the back.

Don’t be shocked to hear them say they don’t want to make something and the order is too big.(usually it’s not)
Not very good for business.
They will put restrictions on how many of a certain item you can buy.
Overall this isn’t the prettiest place to stop but they keep it clean at the tables and they don’t too long to get your food out to you.
Small mom and pop shop so come with that in mind and you will get some pretty good tacos for sure.
Tea is a bit too sweet for my liking but heck I don’t like diabetes on my first sip.

“The cheese enchilada plate was very good portion could have been a little bigger but it was still very tasty and a decent amount. The refried beans we're excellent with a delicate flavor of pork and onion which made the beans a standout. The tortillas tasted like they were made by hand and were absolutely amazing. The tortilla chips were also fresh warm and flavorful. The salsa what's medium thickness and blended well.
There were plenty of servers and the wait staff was attentive.
The restaurant and tables were clean and well maintained. There's a large portion of the parking lot for special needs drivers and passengers, but not much in the way in the way of parking for others so on a crowded day it may be difficult to find a a nearby place to park. Parking is free.
The restaurant includes a bar and various specialty margaritas, but no alcoholic beverages were tried.“
