“Purple Garlic is our hands down favorite Italian restaurant! Coming here is like "Cheers" where when you walk in, "Everyone knows your name" and make you feel right at home. Chris, the manager, is so accommodating and keeps things running smoothly. This restaurant doesn't have an overly extensive menu, but what they have is prepared wonderfully. No matter what we have ordered, it always tastes great! Also, they make one of the best pizzas in San Antonio. Come here and you won't be disappointed!“

“I walked in to pick up my carry out. I was promptly greeted with a friendly hello. I got the pappardelle bolognese, my husband got the fettuccine Della casa both small, and split the arancini. Everything was delicious. The pasta was cooked perfectly. The sauce had great flavor. My husband thought the flavors married well and liked the crispiness of the pancetta. We both liked the Arancini. It was crispy the outside and a good cheesy texture on the inside. My only little complaint is that the size of the small was a little too small, but we are both big eaters. I highly recommend this restaurant“

“The pizza was wonderful. I loved the flavor of the sauce, however because it was so good I wish there had been more of it. The pizza is SO cheesy it was decadent. The pepperoni was perfect not too greasy and very flavorful. The dough was good hubby would've preferred it a little thinner but that's a personal preference, I liked it the way it was. The only drawback was that you can't enjoy it there when it's nice and hot, and the restaurant is crowded and kind of sad. It made me want to help them fix it up and make it presentable.“

“A quaint Pizza joint that makes tasty pizza! The crust is cooked perfectly and compliments the sauce and toppings. I had the supreme sans olives and my wife had a Canadian bacon with pineapple. Apparently they do make margarita pizza, but wasn't listed in the store. I saw it online.Note that there's no public restrooms, but there's a gas station right next door if the need arises.It wasn't crowded so there were plenty of seats available inside. However we wanted to enjoy the weather that day.Totally recommend!“

“As soon as I walked in Gennaro hooked me up!!!I told him I was a vegetarian, and he specifically made Penne a Rustica for me with no meat and it was amazing. The penne was cooked to perfection, and the sauce was very rich and creamy. You can tell it was made with love. He also recommended a Mexican cola with my meal. The customer service is outstanding. The atmosphere in the dining room was priceless and felt like I was in a movie. You can tell he really enjoys his job as I seen him tend to other customers with such charisma. “Been eating at Aldo's for years and realized I'd never done a write-up. Once again, a wonderful experience. I usually recommend the Osso Buco. This time, our party of five on a Thursday, enjoyed Scampi Colina, Cristina Pizza, a couple Pollo dishes, and Linguine Alle Vongole. Service was excellent as usual. We have never had a bad meal/experience here. They also have a nice selection of wines and desserts which should satisfy a variety of tastes.Dietary restrictions: They do a nice job of addressing dietary issues and make good recommendations for alternate choices.“

They do have reservations quite a lot, assuming it is Valentine's Day weekend - so I would reserve a table for the weekends anyways. It was great service by the staff, dim enough but not too dark, and not loud at all. They do have outdoor seating available as well and I thought it was super cute. We ordered chicken Parmesan and a primavera pasta. Complimentary bread rolls were SO FRESH I regret not taking a picture and the pictures taken of the food don't even compare to the taste. It is so authentic and not your regular Olive Garden, it was so flavorful and I'm a picky Italian food eater! The pastas were devoured and so perfect, along with the tiramisu! There is about an equal divide between indoor and outdoor seating, along with a handful of bar seats. Wine menu has several wines rated 90+ points by Wine Spectator. The wine and cocktail menus is focused but more than adequate. Wifey and I are usually winos, but we opted for their speciality cocktails--delicious. Apps were fantastic: burrata, bread, and calamari. She had a seafood pasta dish and I ravioli with short rib meat. Service is excellent. The only negative is the noise level: it's just too damned loud. This can easily improve with sound absorption so that patrons can speak easily.“

We took forever to look at the menu because we couldn’t stop eating the bread. For the antipasti, we ordered the bruschetta, calamari and the stacked eggplant. The stacked eggplant was my favorite, beautifully cooked, cheesy and I could have eaten that as my entree and stopped there (I’m picky so I can’t tell you about the calamari)I’m already full but then the Caesar salad comes out. I ate half and tapped out when the lemon pepper chicken (no spaghetti, sub mashed potatoes) and green peas came out. “These are the best pizzas in San Antonio. The flavor and freshness is exactly like Italy. It's exceptional food. Where Dough falls slightly short is their staff are hit and miss. Sometimes superb. Sometimes snobby. By the latter I mean they have a superior attitude which is off putting. Given we're all equal no staff should act superior or condescending. When the staff are good this is a great experience. I've taken friends from out of town multiple times. It's a higher end pizza joint with some terrific options. Staffing is such a challenge these days but it's paramount to the reputation of a business. Whilst Fought tends to serve a more affluent clientele they ought to train staff not to act superior because they're just wait staff and having an attitude is off putting. They said; the food is terrific and if you get lucky the staff can be friendly. It's not my favorite restaurant in SA but it definitely has the best pizza. You'll pay more for it and because it's so fresh it won't keep. But you'll get a great meal and it's ideal for a special occasion also. They have vegetarian options and a good wine list. The truffle salad is sensational. I've never eaten a better pizza in SA.“
