Local Spot for Crawfish in Richmond

I’ve visited La Crawfish in Richmond, TX a few times, and overall it’s a solid spot for seafood lovers. We love to support local, eat local, and shop local, so this place has always been on our radar.

The food has been awesome in the past, especially their crawfish and classic Cajun dishes. However, on our most recent visit, it seemed like there may have been a change in ownership, as the food was just okay compared to previous experiences. While still tasty, it didn’t quite hit the same level of flavor we’ve come to expect from them.

The restaurant itself is casual and welcoming, and the staff have always been friendly and accommodating, making the dining experience enjoyable. The portions are generous, and there’s a good selection of sides and drinks to complement the seafood.

Despite the small dip in quality on our last visit, La Crawfish remains a great option for those looking for Cajun-style crawfish and seafood in Richmond. I hope the new ownership continues to improve and bring back the amazing flavors we remember.

“I visited Roux Pour on Dec 19th as my friend and I went to the Sarah Brightman concert and wanted something a little special. My dish, a holiday special , stuffed red snapper with crab meat , mushroom rice and broccolini with 2 Cajun fried shrimp, was excellent. My friend's gumbo stew , with chicken and sausage was good but had very little rice to balance the roux sauce so the dish came out as a roux soup. The garlic bread size, that was brought to the table, was about 3 inches by 3 . There were 2 of these small pieces. I didn't need my 3x3 bread but my friend's gumbo dish required it to sop up the sauce. Also there are 0 side options to add to your meal. That...is the weakness of Roux Pour. I know that Brennan's offers very little on their menu and it seems like the trend in fish restaurants is to push the oysters and caviar, like Little Pappas Oyster House on Shepherd, but when I go upscale eating, I like the side options and there are none, zero, on this menu other than salads and a nice deviled egg side. The dinner just didn't feel complete but perhaps sides, like creamed spinach, hush puppies, french fries, coleslaw, etc are things that only the common seafood restaurants offer, this being upscale. Also, the waiter did not bring water to the table and after I ordered and drank a hot tea, the waiter did not ask if I needed more even though he saw that my cup was empty and I had to ask for another serving. Of course you'll be given much more attention if you increase your bill , and his tip, by ordering wine or alcohol but , alas, my friend is in AA and I'm only an occasional Proseco drinker. At that time the restaurant was not full but the waiter seemed to be avoiding our table and I felt he was purposefully doing so while being more attentive to the other 2 tables he was assigned to. Had to give this 4 stars...“

Chef Diana and Chris showed us what a professional catering company is all about. Our initial food tasting was 1 on 1 with them and Monica. Their attention to every detail was outstanding. The creativity in plating, and the flavors of every single thing we tasted blew our minds. From that moment our decision was clear that Palate Cuisine was the caterer we had been looking for. Diana is not only a true professional, but genuinely a kind and caring person! She made sure every single detail was taken care of. Diana is on top of every email, every text & every phone call you make to her and responds instantaneously! The day of our event they provided top quality appetizers, a hot filling meal, a phenomenal bar and an army of staff. From the second we arrived to the last detail of loading up all of our belongings in our car, Diana took care of everything! I can’t recommend her enough! She went from being the catering lady to a personal friend! Chris and Diana continue to do what you do, you guys truly are amazing people and it shows in the quality of your production. I can’t recommend them enough! Oh and by the way my guests can not stop talking about how extraordinary the food was!“

“When I say have mercy… have mercy… yes indeed this food is excellent and we did reg spice and enough for us because it’s so tasty. I did oxtails and shrimp and can get 3 servings out of my plate. My hubby did a pasta… are it all though. lol. My daughter did fried shrimp and can get 2 meals out of it. Try many dishes and share. They threw in some greens that taste like home. Will order that next time. This was our first visit and they will see us again. Great food. Actually this is from his wife Linda. He agreed though. lol.“

“Had the Gator Po Boy. So tasty! Quiet during the week. Fast service for lunch. The Po Boys are fantastic! Cajun fries to go with it were nice and spicy!
Music is low enough you can talk over it. Comfortable place to have a business meeting or just a minute for yourself.“
