“Our 52nd anniversary dinner was delicious and delightful as usual. We started with the Brie, our favorite appetizer. Then we decided to select from the menu benefitting Meals on Wheels. The poblano soup, Asian salmon, and one dessert for each of us were wonderful. Francis was his charming self. Our waiter was attentive and efficient.“

We arrived about two hours before closing and the restaurant was already in full end-of-day mode: chairs on tables and floors being mopped like the finale had started early. Totally get wanting a head start, but the cleaning solution was very strong and ended up making our food taste like it. Brisket with hints of fresh citrus wasn’t quite what we ordered 😅

“My family and I celebrated my mom’s 70th birthday at Truluck’s in Southlake, and the experience was outstanding from start to finish.
We had a reservation for 7:15 PM for a fairly large group of nine people. Our table wasn’t quite ready when we arrived because the party before us needed a little extra time, and since we were a big group there weren’t many tables that could accommodate us. The manager, Mike, came over personally to apologize for the delay and told me he wanted to make sure my mom had a memorable birthday celebration.
We were seated around 7:30 PM—honestly only about 15 minutes late, which didn’t bother me at all—but Mike insisted on sending complimentary appetizers while we waited. I told him it wasn’t necessary, but he very politely insisted. To our surprise he sent six appetizers: two shrimp cocktails, two crab cakes, and two orders of calamari. It was incredibly generous and such a classy gesture.
Our server Kyle was spectacular. He was friendly, attentive, and handled a table of nine with ease. Service like that makes a big difference, and he absolutely delivered.
The food and wine were phenomenal. The seafood was incredibly fresh and the steaks were excellent. I had the shrimp and scallop sauté and added an 8 oz filet because I couldn’t decide—no regrets. The Parker House rolls were a massive hit with the table (buttery, warm, slightly crisp on the outside), and we ended up ordering four baskets.
To top off the evening, they surprised us with two complimentary Baked Alaska desserts that were big enough for the entire table to share—not just the birthday girl.
I can’t say enough about how well Mike and Kyle treated our family. They went above and beyond to make my mom’s 70th birthday special.
Truluck’s Southlake is now our go-to spot for special occasions. We’ll absolutely be back.“

“Tonight we decided to stop in and celebrate my new position with our beloved company as we have both worked there for decades! We elected to sit at a booth and I was very happy they sat us at a half moon booth with tons of room. Our food server, Sarah, was amazing from the start. Filled with enthusiasm and knowledge. She didn’t miss a beat and quickly picked up on what we liked. The perfect amount of attention and care. The manager was pretty entertaining himself. I’m not a big seafood diner so I had the awesome filet!! She was right! Fabulous it was! We will be returning soon! Thanks for a memorable dinner!!“

This small act made such an impact that I will definitely be coming more frequently to this location. The food was good and the portion is big for the price.“

“FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE!!! We came here tonight for my kids birthday party. She's quite shy but we still wanted to have the goofy birthday experience that we had growing up (coming to Joe's Crab shack for birthday celebrations has become a tradition in our family). Well, they sure did it! Our server, Jose, was amazing, friendly, checked on us often, made sure we had what we needed, and answered all our questions with a smile. He made us feel super welcome and well taken care of. I wish we could have tipped him more. Then a whole bunch of crew members came out to do the birthday celebration with our kid, who was thoroughly entertained & embarrassed, as we had wanted, haha. And the food was stellar, which has always been the case in the past when we came here so I expected nothing less. Overall this was a fantastic pending to an important birthday and left our whole family feeling wonderful. 10/10, highly recommend, and thank you so much to Jose and the amazing crew of this Joe's Crab Shack! Sidenote: Every time we go here we always get the Great Balls of Fire, the painted crab dessert and the "Shark Nibble" drink, all of which are 100% worth getting every time. The dessert and the drink are a huge crowd pleaser with the kids. They're super cute and fun, very affordably priced, and something we personally haven't seen at any other restaurant.“

So much so that we drive 45 minutes and it’s our 3rd year spending her birthday lunch here! Mare was amazing! She was personable, kind and so attentive. When it was time for our daughter’s complimentary birthday dessert, she was kind enough to give my 6 year old a complimentary dessert for her birthday coming up next Monday! And I was NOT disappointed.
The service was excellent, the decor was cozy, and the food was divine. The miso soup was perfectly done, not too salty, not too bland, but nice and hearty. The chirashi bento was amazing. Instead of the usual meh salads they give you squid and seaweed salad which were delicious. The half tuna rolls were more tuna than rice and were fresh and delicious. And the chirashi was just heavenly. Each piece of sashimi was topped with its own seasoning to really bring out the flavor of the fish, complimented by the high quality rice and salmon roe underneath. I was so satisfied by the food I ordered dessert and got to taste the amazing tempura cheesecake. Though pricey, it was worth said price. I left the place full and happy and will be back. 10/10“

“The pizza was pretty good and the extra large really is extra large. We took our pizza to go, but the interior was clean and updated enough to be a cozy place to dine in with a few differently sized tables to accommodate.

We ordered an extra large pizza to try out and were quoted 20 minutes. We knew from other reviews that they run a bit on the slow side, so we got there about 30 minutes later. Well, unfortunately, the pizza was still not done. No big deal, we can wait. It took another 10 minutes of waiting to finally get our pizza. Which when done, was not handed to us directly, but instead tossed into a box and then stored on top of the oven with other orders.

40 minutes for a pizza is a bit extreme, but the staff are friendly and the food was good. They really need to optimize their organization and flow to keep things moving and not have you waiting twice the quoted time though.“

“Another one of my go-to spots for Thai food. I probably eat here a few times a month, and it never disappoints. The food is consistently solid, flavorful, and comforting. My ride-or-die order is the Pad Kee Mow (drunken noodles) with medium spice. I've learned my lesson..."medium" can range from a manageable kick to "why is my face melting?" so I'll never go above that! Still, it's always delicious, and the one time my dish came out closer to "Thai hot," (which is what they call their spiciest), they were super kind and remade it without hesitation. Now, I have to mention, the interior has a bit of an identity crisis. There's a random Christmas wreath that's been hanging up year-round, and a slightly cluttered corner by the bathrooms. It's not exactly Instagram-perfect, but somehow that adds to the charm. The place feels a little worn in, but clean enough that it doesn't deter me (just worth knowing if you're someone who likes everything pristine). Pro tip: avoid the table by the double glass doors. It's basically a climate experiment: blazing hot in the summer and freezing in the winter. Otherwise, they keep the restaurant at a cool, comfortable temp (I love it but you might want to bring a light jacket just in case). Overall, this is one of those reliable, cozy spots that you keep coming back to because the food hits every time and the service is always welcoming. Nothing fancy, just consistently good Thai comfort food done right.“
