She sources a lot from local farmers, adheres often to seasonal common sense, and takes inspiration from her reading and research on Soul Food, Southern food, and Virginia food. I wouldn't classify prices at The Roosevelt as cheap but also wouldn't classify them as extravagant either. Marketed by many as a "neighborhood spot" I always see The Roosevelt as a great date night spot, particularly for those who might fancy themselves foodies. Congrats to Leah and The Roosevelt on their recent James Beard nod. In my opinion, well deserved.“

“i LOVE minglewood bake shop so much. it's my favorite coffee shop in RVA. the atmosphere is very loving & accepting. the pastries & coffee are to die for! they have gluten-free options as well, which is amazing as someone with celiac disease. all staff is so friendly & welcoming. they have cute stickers & accessories here too. overall great environment, vibe, & food! everything is also vegan, which is super cool! they even have a microwave that's solely used for vegan foods only. a lot of cool stuff here & they always have something yummy & new to try. i have never had a bad experience here & i've been going often since 2023! pricing is also so good, you get great portions & high quality for what you pay.“

“SO happy Great Harvest is open again. The new ownership is fantastic and so welcoming. We just stopped in for a quick lunch and didn’t realize they were closing in 10 minutes, so we said we could take our food to go; they said, “absolutely not,” and gave us a free muffin and cookie! The decor and new layout is exactly what the shop needed. It was always a cute and cozy place, but the vibe it has now fits way better, and the “something” that was lacking before is finally here. And of course, the food was superb. The menu is the same (SO happy about that!) but it feels elevated, and more thoughtful now. “Small shop with a Rustic vibe with really good coffee and bagels. This is not the coffee shop to try to work in. The brown sugar cardamom latte is really good and have the perfect cardamom flavor that isn't overpowering. Really good service. The wonton soup was the best my mother has ever tasted…keep in mind, she’s traveled all over the world. The ginger dressing was so delicious, I asked the server if they sold it in bottles. The garlic chicken and basil beef were both so tender and flavorful, I would highly recommend them both. And last but not least, our server was great! Do not wait to try this place like I did!!!! “This is a super sweet shop! I ordered for local delivery to my sister for her birthday who lives in RVA. The sweets were perfect, a great selection and a cute online storefront to select from. Cant wait to visit the shop in person someday! While there was a bit of a mix up in delivery, the store owner quickly and very apologetically remedied it and delivered promptly herself. “A Must-Visit Spot — Fun, Flavor, and the Perfect Place to Watch a Game!

The Beach House in Virginia is such a fun place to hang out! The whole beach-bar theme makes you feel like you’re kicking back on vacation, even if you’re just stopping by after work. It’s also an awesome spot to watch a game — plenty of TVs, great energy, and a crowd that actually gets into it.

The food was fantastic. I ordered buffalo wings — all flats and extra crispy — and they absolutely delivered. Big, meaty wings (none of those tiny “where’s the rest of it?” wings you get at some places), cooked perfectly and loaded with flavor.

Cocktails? Not weak at all. They know what they’re doing behind the bar, and it shows.

And the service… easily some of the best I’ve had. Friendly, fast, and super welcoming — the kind of staff that makes you want to come back again.

The owners were so easy to work with and went out of their way to make my mom’s vision for her birthday a reality. The staff were so friendly and went out of their way for all of our guests.
