“This is the best American restaurant in the Hampton Roads/Eastern Shore area without a doubt. We went twice and the food did not disappoint. The restaurant is small but very intimate with a warm staff. Truly a gem standing out in a sea of mediocrity.“
“I admit - I wasn't expecting much when we had brunch scheduled here. The menu is pretty basic. It's situated in a beautiful clubhouse on this exclusive, private golf community resort. The building is an old-world wooden beams and large ceilings feel and the pro shop is very nice. (Rumor has it this is going to be converted into a finer dining restaurant since it's such a beautiful space). The Tavern overlooks the driving range and has windows all around and plenty of seating. It wasn't busy at 10am on a Sunday and we were able to choose our table. Our waitress was prompt and nice. I ordered some sides of breakfast sausage, biscuits and fruit to go with the oatmeal bar I chose since I was worried it wouldn't be very good.Actually, the oatmeal was delicious and they had fresh blueberries for toppings as well as sliced almonds, cranberries and brown sugar. It was yummy! All my sides were about $2-3 and each was a huge serving. Two biscuits, two pieces of sausage and a huge portion of fruit that would be $7 in VAB.My husband ordered a breakfast sandwich with eggs, protein and cheese with potatoes and a side of fruit. He was also happy with his portion size and food.Prices are wonderful and the food was very good - I would def. eat here again. Now, it's not fine dining and it def. isn't a bougie cute little coffee shop with loads of instagrammable options and cute lattes, but it got the job done for a fair price.“
“The staff are very courteous. The atmosphere is pleasantly "beachy.". They have custom milkshakes to order and from what I could see (I did not partake) the banana splits were a two man job to finish. (And I am a rather large person, so take that FWIW.). The crab cake sandwich was a decent 3.5 out of 5. The fried shrimp was also typical fare and the pizza is about what you'd expect from a beach shack. The true heroes were the flounder basket and I was lucky enough to get the fried oyster basket. I give the flounder a solid 4 out of 5 and the fried oysters a 4.5 out of 5. They were perfectly cooked and not overly breaded with cornmeal. (I should have asked for some tobasco, but that didn't stop me from eating two servings.). Oh, and I had to ask for the oysters, they were not on the dinner menu.French fries come with about every basket meal and they are nice and crisp, but you can swap out for hush puppies. Get the hush puppies!Their breakfasts are no joke either. The servings are enough for two. Suggest the french toast or the pancakes with a side of bacon. Either comes with a personal hash brown serving. You can also opt for a breakfast platter with: 2 eggs any style, a hash brown serving, toast, and your choice of breakfast meat. Each breakfast option was well money well spent! The cafe also has habitat controlled bathrooms for him and her, and a pleasant lounge area with accompanying Television to keep you busy while waiting for your order.“
“We've stopped here twice on trips to the outer banks and both times service has been super friendly and attentive. The food is tasty, they added potato and pasta salad as side dishes, we enjoyed both. Great views, can't go wrong here. Unfortunately no pictures because we inhaled the food before remembering to snap a shot.“
“Happen to be drive by and decided to give it a try. Atmosphere is nothing fancy and is takeout only, but the food more than compensates. I had smothered pork chops, yellow rice, macaroni and cheese, corn and corn bread. He had curry chicken, yellow rice, macaroni and cheese, bourbon bread pudding, and corn bread. Everything tasted so good and there was so much we couldn't eat it all in one sitting. I can't wait until I have room to finish it!“
“It's the Eastern Shore where the pace is slower and the company is something to treasure. We have always been treated well by staff and patrons alike. Tonight we saluted a WW II veteran, got other local reviews from another patron, and had great service from Kasey at the bar. But Walt... Walt blew my mind with his honey barbecue chicken sandwich! I took a bite before we took it to go... and then ate half of it immediately while still paying the check. Delicious sandwich. Embarrassingly delicious, some might say as they watched me drip it down my hands while paying. Thanks, Yuk, for another good night.“
“It was a rainy day. We went for a drive, and the very friendly woman at the Cape Charles visitor center recommended this place. The food was so good! My husband tried a new beer, which he enjoyed. Laid back atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and helpful! The only bummer was they didn't have their famous Mimi's mac and cheese. They have a cute children's book written about Mimi's mac and cheese.“
