“The food here is absolutely delicious and everyone who works at Botanical is so nice! They create such a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. We got the Tuna Salad Sandwich (chickpea), the Crispy Chix (mushroom), and the French Onion Soup with Cheesy Garlic Bread. All of which was phenomenal and tasted so fresh. It felt like each item had a lot of thought and care put into making it!I wish the French Onion Soup wasn’t just a winter menu item because I’m in love with it and am most definitely going to be craving it all the time! Also, I love that they use MarieBette sourdough for the sandwich because that just took it to another level. I’d be so happy if there was vegan food like this where I live.I did a photoshoot here a little while back and told the owner I would come back to eat soon. Unfortunately, I didn’t have another shoot in Charlottesville for a hot minute so wasn’t able to do so until this week when my partner and I ate here for Valentine’s Day. I’m so happy we did but now I’m mad at myself for not eating here sooner-it’s definitely in my top 10 favourite restaurants! I’m in Charlottesville again today for work so I’m planning on stopping by to grab some food and I’m beyond excited ? I highly recommend eating here if you haven’t yet!“

“February 26, 2024 - Enjoy fresh made ice cream with the “ Fonz on TV’s Happy Days” !Over 20 ice cream flavors it’s a difficult decision.Fun to look around this nostalgic ice cream shop, owner Tony Labua founded in 1985. One source mentions an Uncle who owned Chaps in 1963 in a different location. Currently UVA Professor Tami Kim owns Chaps ( since purchase in 2022).My wife and I couldn’t resist this delicious ice cream after dinner. She usually orders some kind of chocolate creation. I opted for a strawberry milkshake with chocolate syrup !??????, with chunks of strawberry ?!Hey, I recall Bob Rose teaching us landscapes on tv in the 60’s & 70’s, over in the corner! You’ll notice a mock up Juke Box from the 50’s, behind the counter . . . Playing Beatles, Motown, and Ray Charles hits !I highly recommend a walk, after that delicious ice cream from Chaps! ???“

The Caesar salad was perfect. We had a young, helpful waitperson who told us the name of the restaurant is pronounced “cafe Frank”and not “cafe Fraunk.” Frank is a stuffed rooster perched above the bar.“

“Sunday brunch is crowded. While we were in no rush, it did take 15 minutes before a server took our drink orders and by that time we placed our full order. It took another 15 minutes before our coffee drinks arrived. I ordered the chicken and biscuits over my usual eggs benedict but didn't expect the biscuits to be deep-fried bread ... almost like croutons and the chicken was more fried batter than chicken. My wife and daughter very much enjoyed their dishes, one was the pimento BLT. Don't recall the other.“

“My kid and I love this place. In fact, I don't know anyone who doesn't like this place. It's friendly, it's well run, and it's consistent. The food and service are reliably good, the quality is good, and there are lots of monthly specials to keep things fresh. The downside (other than the pricey coffee) is that it gets totally mobbed on weekends. Not their fault, but really, just avoid weekends if you can. Don't be surprised if you show up and they quote you an hour wait. No joke. Come on a weekday. Seriously.“
