“The gentleman at the counter had wonderful customer service. We paid for our food even brought it to the table, which was very nice. It felt like fine dining, he gave us a bit of conversation and seem like such a pleasant gentlemen. I enjoyed the food. It was amazing. I eat every drop and the baklava ice cream with everything took a friend for the first time. My friend said he enjoyed it, and we will definitely be back again. I recommend this place highly if you love Greek food and gyros.“

“Comfort food, consistently good with quick service.Your coffee cup will never be empty in this place.
I am originally from NJ and this place feels like a diner from home. Carlos is welcoming and helped make my omelet today extra amazing! I told him I always order the farmer's omelet but today I was considering the country omelet. With a knowing smile, he suggested combining ingredients from both and the food came out fast, way more than I could eat in one sitting and it was perfect. Thank you, Carlos:)“

“I love the Greek Chicken and the Greek soup is awesome! Very friendly staff with great service. The menu is massive, covering Greek specialties, Italian staples, pizza, burgers, and hot subs. The Greek food is where they really hit their stride—the gyro platter, chicken souvlaki, and homemade grape leaves are consistently fresh and packed with flavor. Their steak and cheese subs hit the mark, the pizza is solid, and the crab cakes are surprisingly good for a casual grill. Portions are huge across the board, so plan on taking food home or having the kids split a dish.“

“Enjoyed a very good dinner at the Parthenon last night. It was quite busy. For appetizers we had a lovely hummus platter with beautifully warmed pita bread a accompanied by freshly cut cucumber slices and tomatoes; warm Shrimp Saganaki that is served in a light fragrant tomato sauce with feta and a generous portion of grilled swordfish with lemon potatoes and mixed vegetables. We also relished the Greek white wine from Santorini-- it was great! Eduardo was our server; he was attentive and very helpful. Ask to sit with him when you go.“

“Would recommend for a glass of wine and appetizer! Stopped in for dinner and the food was tasty but felt overpriced for the portions. The shrimp dish was good but shrimp were slightly overcooked and felt like a very expensive starter. The hummus was delish! Wine was great and cocktail was less than amazing.“

“Food was great, server was cordial and attentive, atmosphere was very nice. One issue was that my food came out quite soon after I received my cocktail. I didn’t have the chance to sit and enjoy my drink. It was warm outside and the ice was melting. Pace the entre with the entire experience.“

“I’ve been coming to this location pretty much every weekend for the last 3 years and realized I’ve never actually left a review! They have another location that is bigger than this one, but honestly, this one is the better spot for food, service, and the overall vibe. I actually live closer to the Falls Church location but still make the drive here because the staff are always super friendly and the experience is consistently good. On Fridays and Saturday, it can get a little busy a hectic but the wait usually isn’t too bad, maybe around like 10–15 minutes. My order has always come out right and the food tastes fresh and delicious every time I’ve been here.
The place itself is clean, condiments are always stocked, and there’s a really nice mural on the wall that gives it a cozy feel. Nice music playing most of the time I come and seating is a little tight but it’s comfortable. Every time I come in,I’m greeted right away and the staff have been the same since I first started coming so they know what they’re doing. If there ever is an issue, they’re quick to fix it. If you have any allergies or food restrictions, they are pretty accommodating to requests so that is something to consider.
Overall, this has been one of my go-to spots for Greek food for years! Consistently good food, good prices, and really great service.“

“In recent years there seems to be a proliferation of small-plate Mediterranean restaurants. But Yayla remains as one of the best, reasonably priced originals in northern Virginia. There is a pleasing range of mezzes, salads, entrees hot and cold, flat breads, spreads, etc . I had a Yayla mule, 3 spreads, lemony rice soup and superb shrimp. Friends chose a range of other dishes. I can guarantee whatever you choose, you won’t be disappointed. Everything is flavorful, fresh and beautifully presented. Wait staff and servers are friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and not obtrusive. Don’t miss the nice selection of creative cocktails, wine variety and desserts. Continued success and best wishes for this popular bistro!“

“My first time here and I was impressed with how nice and friendly the lady at the counter was. She gave me potatoes to try and lamb. It was quick, and the food was amazing.
I got a small plate with 2 types of chicken, tiny bit of lamb to try, orzo, green beans. Flavor was popping, food was warm and plenty 😋 it was all in one container so it didnt look very artsy but it tasted sooo good that I ate all of it and it was def 2 or 3 serving size for someone my size. 😆 and the bread that came with was amazing, smelled and tasted fresh. Outside was crispy ish yet soft and inside very fluffy. My only one issue was that green beans was very oily. But I still ate it all.
Overall- will def go back, and may bring my friends. Def will bring family. They have so many chicken, lamb, turkey varieties for those who dont want pork or beef all the time.
It was just me and a friend so we sat in their tiny table but I will say this is take out place. Not a lot of space to sit and eat. It gets busy too, but they are extremely quick with service.“

“Astounding menu paired with excellent and reasonably priced wine. I'd suggest picking a bottle for the table, sharing each others' dishes, and experiencing the best atmosphere you'll find in the states. ask for Yanni!“

“My wife and I use this as our go-to place when we need quality food that is not junk and is a great value. The orzo is my personal favorite but honestly there hasn't been one dish I've tried that has been disappointing. I am genuinely confused by the people who give this place one or two stars. My wife loves the pork chops. They held up really well even after being delivered. I had the gyro and it was amazing. This place is consistent and if you're looking for a hidden gem in a sea of awful takeout, this is it.“

“this place is a gem! I'm greek and used to own a small farm to fork restaurant .... I know good quality food and this place is IT!! this is NOT your run of the mill fake greek food , it is in fact small batch, authentic, made from scratch food that tastes great. thank you Mastiha Taverna team, you're doing a great job ✨️🧿🩵“

“Their signature thing The Gyro is spot on copious gyro meat balanced well with tomatoes, onions and tzatki. The side Greek Salad was tasty but heavy on the greens and a real Greek salad is cucumbers, tomatoes, feta, green peppers. I ordered way too much as the Gyro is a lot. Enjoy! Opa!!
PS Dolmades are cooked fresh when you order and are hot which was me to me, but also spot on. A really good side if you like Dolmades.“

“Kufta Kabab is tender with buttery rice and veggies; Chicken Shawarma Sandwich has great pita and goes great with the spicy sauce. I like healthy portions and nutritional variety for good value, and Astor hits the spot. The owners and staff are extremely gracious to create a welcoming atmosphere. They have a lovely patio to hangout. If you live in the neighborhood, it's a no brainier to make this your hangout spot.“

“Athena Grill is absolutely phenomenal and a true neighborhood gem. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and clearly prepared with care, and the portions were generous. I especially recommend the gyro pita—it was delicious—and the falafel was perfectly seasoned and satisfying. The galaktoboureko was an excellent way to finish the meal and is definitely worth trying. My pickup order was ready quickly, everything was packaged well, and the service was warm and welcoming. I’m already looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu. Highly recommend!“

“Can’t believe I didn’t try this place sooner! Calamari tasted a lot better than it smelled (and in fairness it could’ve been the marinara I smelled). But idc, was super delicious. And the bartender and owner were super friendly.“

“Maggio's Italiano is a hidden gem for bar and kitchen in Alexandria. The bar is a full lounge vibe — great Happy Hour 5-9PM, strong cocktails like the Tequila Sunrise and Green Tea Drop, ice-cold taps including Sierra Nevada Hazy Little Thing and Narragansett, and a full liquor selection with a laid-back, neon-lit lounge feel.

> Kitchen is impressive for the range — Italian, Greek, Mediterranean and American under one roof. The signature lasagna and baked ziti are legit game-changers, pizza is NY-style and perfect late-night, and the kabobs / chicken over rice are fire. Portions are huge, everything tastes homemade, and prices are moderate. Open late till 2am with free parking. Ask for Nikki or Suni at the bar — service makes you feel like family.“

“I wish 4.5 was an option, I would give it that rating. I just moved to the Landmark / west end Alex neighborhood so I'm trying out all the local places. I had the Sunday special which was hamburger steak and onions. I thought it was really good, the grilled onions added really nice flavor. I had it with rice which was a nice combination and a side salad. The Italian dressing was really delicious and the salad was fresh. My bf got a gyro and shoestring fries. He said the fries were really excellent and the gyro was okay. I liked that the menu had a few items typical of a Greek diner such as tuna salad plate and chef salad. They had a nice looking full bar with a few TVs and the dining area was nicely kept. Not overly fancy but nice. They had a breakfast menu but it's not served all day. We will definitely be going back to try a few other things like chicken parm or spaghetti and meatballs. I will def get the hamburger steak again. Total price for both meals plus one soda and one iced tea was $41 before the tip.“

“For the week we spent in the DC area this was far and away the most enjoyable and delicious meal of the trip. My partner had the stuffed trout with crabmeat. And yes real lump crab and hardly anything else. Just perfect. My stuffed shrimp was just as good. Flavoring was just right.“

“I absolutely love this place. Everything is so fresh and delicious. It's me and my boyfriend's favorite date night spot. The super salad and spinach ravioli with alfredo sauce are to die for. The fact that this place doesn't have thousands of 5 star reviews means the locals are trying to keep this place a secret, but Im no gatekeeper! It's affordable because its a Mom and Pop restaurant, they do not compromise on quality!“

“I was welcomed by Lady Erika and coupled with a Perfect Steak & Cheese pita today. WOW, what a superb delight. I highly recommend their cuisine and customer service. Great place to dine, but with it being so cold today, I dashed home to savor their pita. Talk about being good; I could not stop til it was all gone! Oops, let's keep that just between us (smile).“
“I've been coming to this location since 2001 (it was called Atilla's back then) and the sandwiches & salads are always good. Stopped in today and had an old favorite a gyro with some black olives - it was great as usual. Fast & friendly service as well. You can place your order online and come in and pick it up or just walk in and order.“
