The food is good and well priced.

I had a green curry and it had a good amount of chicken and was tasty.

The crab fried rice had a great flame grilled taste and left a great fun sensation in the mouth. It was also surprisingly affordable at 22$

Staff is nice too!

This is really great place to go, will definitely come back.

Gluten is not labeled on the menu but the staff is knowledgeable and accommodating.

The menu does say it accommodates vegetarians as fish sauce can be taken out of any dish.“

“Decided to try mae ornnit with my sister based on the strong reviews they have. Our server provided excellent, attentive service from start to finish. Mixed reviews on the food: Papaya salad was a downer. Lacks that nice flavor with fish sauce and papaya slices were sliced a bit too thick. Tom kha gai and chicken wonton soups were a winner. Lovely coconut milk flavor for tom kha soup. Fried tofu was pretty decent. The sweet and sour sauce for crispy flounder rocked, but I was expecting a slightly fresher flounder than what we had. Overall a pretty nice experience and we may return if we pass by the area again.“

“WOW! I live in DC and have tried basically every Thai place in DC but rarely make it to VA. Thai is some of my favorite food. My main complaint with most DC places is that the food is NOT spicy enough. Not the case here! I got the drunken noodles tonight and hands down they were the spiciest best I've had in the area! Love this place! New favorite Thai spot in the DMV! I'll be back and VERY SOON! THANK YOU FOR MAKING THAI FOOD SPICY AS IT SHOULD BE!“

“I ran across this place on door dash and tried the drunken noodles and the flavor was so good but just a tad spicy for me. However, the flavor was so good I just had to try it again. I called and spoke with a staff member that was so nice and advised me on menu items that were not so spicy. I ordered again and OMG, it is delicious!!! They even threw in spring rolls as a treat for me trying their food again! One of my new favorite places! Don't miss out. TRY IT. Delicious“

“The food in the restaurant is delicious and comes out at a very reasonable time for the amount that they put in front of you. The service is also spectacular. In my maybe 5 years of going here the only time they've ever gotten something wrong was confusing water for sprite, and I mean its a clear drink so whatever. The inside is also clean and well kept, even the restrooms. Again, 5 years I've been coming here. In those 5 years I've loved the food here so much that leaving a review never came to my mind because it was just so comforting, like I wasn't even eating at a restaurant. The quantity was generous, easily shareable for 2 persons. And the curry was really flavorful! Definitely recommended if you want to try some good quality Thai food.“

We have two young children and it is much easier to manage them outside and there was no one else out there. I was impressed by the many menu items I’d never heard of before, especially the ones that said there was no option to substitute ingredients, even the meat. “We have been loyal customers of Sam Phao Thai for years because they consistently serve the best Thai food in the Alexandria area. Our go-to dishes include the coconut shrimp, spring rolls, Panang curry, drunken noodles, and pineapple fried rice. Everything is always fresh, flavorful, and satisfying.

One of the things we appreciated most was how well they handled special requests through delivery apps. This was especially important for us because my husband is allergic to shrimp, and his favorite dish—the pineapple fried rice—comes with shrimp by default. They always took the time to accommodate that, which made it easy and stress-free to order from them regularly.

Unfortunately, they recently stopped allowing special requests through delivery apps, which has made it harder for us to order safely. As a result, we’ve had to branch out and try other places.

We still love the food and hope they consider bringing back the option for special requests. It made a big difference for families like ours“

“I've always been a fan and a regular customer for years at this little neighborhood place esp when they run a much loved lunch buffet. I went back a few days ago to revisit their food and service. The service is as good as ever; however, I was surprised at how much they have increased on their prices. I guess expansion and growth (they opened another branch in Arlingnton several years ago) is inevitable and capitalizing on this popularity has its own upside and downside. I ordered their Paa Tad fish dish which did not disappoint but a simple fried fish and for its size, the price was a bit exorbitant for me. I would still visit the place but would be more careful about my choices next time.“

“Ten years as a DMV resident and the Tiki Thai at Water Park managed to amaze. Water Park has been around since at least 2013, when I arrived to take a job with the DEA. Unlike the DEA, Water Park evolved over the Covid lockdown and now has emerged as go-to destination for the local community. Tiki Thai is a very welcome part of the Park. Water Park is a laidback outdoor collection of diverse food venues. On my Saturday morning/afternoon visit (while waiting for the doors to open at the nearby Alamo cinema) I pulled up a chair and settled back to enjoy Tiki Thai’s custom blended Long Thailand. A perfect 10.“
