“I spent days searching for a local baker who could make a sugar and dairy free wedding cake, and now this is the only place I trust for allergen friendly desserts. I've tried many local bakeries that supposedly cater to allergies only to literally throw $40 desserts in the trash because they're inedible. But not Marie, the desserts she makes taste amazing every time. She's super creative and is always coming up with new recipes, great customer service! “Sub Rosa is THE bakery in Richmond! I live about 2 hours away and always make sure I stop by when I’m passing by. It’s about half a mile off the highway, so it’s easy. There’s no parking lot, so finding parking can be an issue, but don’t let that discourage you!

The bread and baked goods are as close to being in Europe as I’ve found (I lived abroad for 8 years). Crusts are light, flaky and leave a little butter on your lips. Everything is fresh and full of flavor. Staff is always friendly and welcoming.

They serve and sell both Recluse and Afterglow coffee - both are excellent local beans.

“i LOVE minglewood bake shop so much. it's my favorite coffee shop in RVA. the atmosphere is very loving & accepting. the pastries & coffee are to die for! they have gluten-free options as well, which is amazing as someone with celiac disease. all staff is so friendly & welcoming. they have cute stickers & accessories here too. overall great environment, vibe, & food! everything is also vegan, which is super cool! they even have a microwave that's solely used for vegan foods only. a lot of cool stuff here & they always have something yummy & new to try. i have never had a bad experience here & i've been going often since 2023! pricing is also so good, you get great portions & high quality for what you pay.“

“I come to IH all the time, right on my street. This morning I got the mixed berry galette and it is the best thing I’ve ever eaten. Not too sweet, perfectly flaky, with the slight crunch of granulated sugar washed on the dough. It is absolute perfection. Please consider making it a regular 😍 Thanks for all you do. Different than most Brazilian restaurants that will mostly serve dishes and plates with rice and beans, this location serves pastries (savory and sweet), cakes, breads, and some Brazilian grocery items. Everything that I have tried there has taken me back to Brazil and tasted just like home!
I’ve heard about their buffet, but haven’t tried. However, based on all the things I’ve tried, I can’t imagine being anything short of incredibly delicious!

“I recently stopped by Pies and Cakes in Richmond, and it’s a charming little bakery that really impressed me. The shop is small and cozy, but the desserts are packed with flavor. They offer a rotating selection of pies, cakes, cookies, and cupcakes, so there’s usually something new to try each time you visit.

They really helped us narrow down our options and speak to the way in which each flavor and icing style would present aesthetically so that we could help coordinate our choices to fit our wedding! They also were extremely patient as our guest count fluctuated and allowed us to edit our guest count accordingly up until the very end! The cupcakes and cake turned out BEAUTIFULLY! People were absolutely raving about how delicious the wedding cake was — some even said it was the best they’ve ever had! They also helped facilitate our design plan of incorporating edible flowers into our desserts. It looked so cool and unique! Auntie Anne pretzels are sooooooo delicious by themselves or with a dip (my personal favorite is the sweet glaze and my wife's is the cheese). Although it was loud in there, they got the order right, fast, and efficiently. All the staff looked quite happy and having a good time, but that doesn't take away from the customer. I'll definitely be back to this location.“
