With a large group one would expect that service would be slow, but Leslie D was super! So great that I HAD to speak to the manager to tell him how awesome she was! “I am visiting Newport News from Florida. This was my and my friends first time at Sorabol. We were greeted and seated right away. The food was excellent. We ordered fried Mandu, Spicy Chicken Stir Fry, and Yookgae Jang, I asked for the soup to be extra spicy and it was on point too. Our server, unfortunately I did not get her name, is a friendly Korean lady. She made sure we had plenty of drinks and kimchi and other pickled side dishes. She also recommended a Soju wine called Chum Churum Peach which was sweet amd delicious.
When our server brought our food to us, she also brought me an apron to wear while I ate the Yookgae Jang, which I'm thankful for because at the end of the meal, there were small drops of the soup on the apron lol
To go, I ordered Spicy Chicken Stir Fry to eat for dinner the next day and Bibimbap for my sister.
I would love to dine here one more time before I travel back to Florida because I don't know when I'll ever be back in Newport News again. I highly recommend Sorabol to all the locals and to anyone visiting Newport News.“

“Thai Papaya is excellent reasonably priced food. The Thai family who runs it are very nice people and they will absolutely not hold back on the spice if you ask them. I was in Yunnan province China so I know spicy food well. They do a good job.

The papaya salad is excellent and so is the drunken noodle.

I will be back just to talk with the gentleman running the place again. He's a nice man.

“In these post-covid times of it being virtually impossible to eat out for less than $15 First Wok is an exception to the seemingly new rule. The lunch and dinner combos gotta be one of the best bang-for-your-bucks in the area. You’re telling me I can get a beef and broccoli, pork fried rice, and an egg roll for $10.25 (dinner combo)???? Boneless spare ribs, vegetable fried rice, and wonton soup for $8.25 (lunch combo)??? That’s insane value.

Additionally, who would have thought that a Chinese restaurant would become my go to chicken wing spot? Wings have become exorbitantly expensive everywhere but again, First Wok remains the exception. Their garlic sauce wings are SO GOOD. I spooned the leftover sauce into my gullet like an animal. Don’t get started on the chicken wing combos either… 8 wings + chicken fried rice for $10.55 is a steal.“

“I doubt this review will be seen, but I must say that this is hands down the best pizza in the city of Newport News. The quality is always amazing and so is the service. What pushed me to write a review today was the interaction I had with one of the members of staff. I unfortunately forgot to ask his name but today (1/29/26 @ approx. noon) he wore a grey hat, grey sweater, and black pants. We had a very enthralling conversation about the Hello Kitty creator and general art things once he mentioned my hoodie. I hope that I run into him again. Amazing food and people working there 😊“
