“I am no expert but North Carolina style should hint of smoke without tasting like it and Bubba-N-Frank’s does it perfectly. I don’t know where my spuds came from but came out hot and crisp and delicious. Unfortunately finding the best NC BBQ means I am limited to the sandwich or the platter haha.“

“Hi Kipp, I wish you were here when I visited today. This was the 1st fine dining place that I've been to where I received multiple calls before coming. 1st call to ask me if I was really coming because it was a busy night with CNU graduating and wanting me to put down a credit card to hold my reservation but changed your mind. 2nd call to ask again if I was coming and to 'set the expectation for the night' advising that you are only a 40 seater restaurant and you want to set your table 3 times a night. So if I could make sure to come on time and not linger longer than 7pm because you have my table booked. Well, I can honestly say that was a 1st. I spoke to other guest while waiting for the restaurant to open to see if they had the same experience. They got multiple calls but weren't asked for a credit card. I did hear another table asking James what happens if they are not done by 7 pm. So James had a table outside cleaned off so that they could finish their coffee and dessert outside. Anyway, food was okay. I'm not sure I could fully enjoy it because of the anxiety of looking at the time. We do a lot of fine dining, so I'm not sure I would rush back since I came in from out of town. The staff you had here tonight was night very friendly andon point. Maybe you could soften your customer service approach for future guests.In my normal reviews I spend more time describing the food. Instead I was more focused on your customer service approach.“

“We were in the area and decided to come for here for lunch. It was pretty packed so we got our food to go, the line was long but it moved pretty fast. I got the Pitmaster sampler and made it a meal with adding the two sides and hushpuppies and pickles. The meal came with 5oz brisket, pulled pork and two chicken tenders. The meat was tender and seasoned well. I got Mac n cheese and coleslaw. Mac n cheese was pretty good, the coleslaw was decent. The hushpuppies were a bit greasy and I didn’t get the pickles. If I’m back this way again I would try their other dishes.“

“Friends told us this restaurant was great, and how right they were! We had the onion rings as our appetizer. They were huge, not too heavily breaded and the onion was sweet. My husband had the loaded potato soup and Caesar salad with chicken. The chicken was crispy and tender and the soup was the best. I had the Rueben sandwich with sweet potato fries served with caramel dipping sauce. All our food was delicious, and the portions were so large we both brought food home … we also ordered the bread pudding with whiskey sauce to bring home to share and it was delish as well.“

“This winery was such a pleasant surprise! We were in the area for a day trip to Chippokes State Park - traveling with our dog we usually try to find breweries or wineries to dine at since most are dog-friendly. The patio at this winery is definitely dog-friendly! The staff were all so sweet, a few came over just to meet our dog. The view you get sitting at the patio is simply not done justice by photos, it is so serene. We ordered a build your own charcuterie and it was presented perfectly. I could live off of the baguette dipped in olive oil. So yummy! Ordering a wine flight was made easy by simply putting check marks next to wines you want on the list they provide. Perfect experience overall. We look forward to our next visit.“

Highly recommend this little treasure in Newport News. The man (I’m assuming the owner) who served us was so nice and informative about the food of his culture. Thank you so much! “Port Arthurs is my favorite Chinese Restaurant. I love the fact that they are locally owned and have been here for as long as I can remember . They are a staple in Newport News and never disappoint. “We lived in Burbage Grant for 8 years and then moved out of state and the one restaurant I missed the most was this La Parilla.When we moved back to the area a couple years ago this was the first restaurant I visited and it's like we picked up where we left off. The staff even remembered us. The service here is amazing! We have eaten here 50+ times and we have never waited longer than 10 mins for our food to come out. And they never disappoint. The fresh guac is delicious, my go-to is the carnitas tacos and I'm a little obsessed with them.. I always leave full and satisfied. The strawberry margaritas are bomb! We highly recommend La Parilla ?“

“Absolutely terrific food! I ordered from here today on the recommendation of a coworker. I was very happily surprised! I had General Tso's chicken with pork fried rice and an eggroll. I wouldn't change a single thing. Everything was hot, and the veggies in the rice and eggroll were fresh and not cooked into a soggy, tasteless mound. It was reasonably priced too. It's a little off the beaten track but now that I know it's there, I'll be there frequently. I'm looking forward to working my way through the menu!“

“I am not from around here, but this is the best Chinese food I’ve had by far! Everything is fresh, the chicken is crispy, and even the rice and broccoli are perfectly cooked. The small portions are the perfect amount of food for one person. And the prices are great! They even wrap the containers with plastic wrap so that it doesn’t leak when carrying it. I just wish there was a Chinese restaurant this good where I live.“

“It was Smithfield Restaurant Week, so my wife and I decided to take advantage and dine at one of our favorite places, The Smithfield Inn. The warm atmosphere; the friendly welcoming staff; real Southern hospitality service, and the fabulous food. To put it bluntly, our meal was a deal. A 3-course adventure for $30 each. The Inn did not disappoint. 1st course, she had the prosciutto wrapped asparagus with lemon vinaigrette, two light delightful pieces of prosciutto ham wrapped around four asparagus spears. I had the crispy pork belly with ginger lime soy glaze. 5 cubed pieces of adult candy, wonderful. 2nd course, she the Mediterranean Pasta, all vegetarian: shallots, garlic, sun-dried tomatoes, kalamata olives, feta cheese on linguine pasta. A tremendous bowl of deliciousness big enough for the two of us. I had the BBQ Duck Legs. Two grilled leg and thigh pieces covered in a chipotle bar-b-que sauce with mango glaze, served with smoked cabbage cole slaw. Juicy, meaty duck grilled perfectly with just a little heat on the back of your palate. The cole slaw was phenomenal in its own rite with a rich, creamy, smokey flavor. 3rd course, she had the apple crepes with cranberry reduction. I had the mini puff pastry shells with hazelnut cream in a raspberry reduction. Both were incredible. What a way to cap off a gourmet delight. Tea, tax and tip, we spent less than $100 for this lovely night out. Bravo to The Smithfield Inn.“

“I ordered a family meal. The general tso chicken was very good, enjoyed the heat and it wasn’t overly salty. I liked that there was a choice of rice! The hibachi was delicious, vegetables fresh, crisp and the meat tender. The chicken soba noodles were excellent with a nice ratio of meat and noodles but a little salty. The last item in the family meal was egg rolls. They were crispy but not a fan of the mushy inside. That won’t stop me from ordering their food again. I’m a fan!“
