I’m a big customer service person and the way the lady taking the orders de-escalated a customer situation left me in awe. The food left me even more impressed. Mixed reviews on the food: Papaya salad was a downer. Lacks that nice flavor with fish sauce and papaya slices were sliced a bit too thick. Tom kha gai and chicken wonton soups were a winner. Lovely coconut milk flavor for tom kha soup. Fried tofu was pretty decent. The sweet and sour sauce for crispy flounder rocked, but I was expecting a slightly fresher flounder than what we had. Overall a pretty nice experience and we may return if we pass by the area again.“

The only small downside - which doesn’t affect my 5-star review - was the wait time. It took about 35 minutes for our food to arrive.

“I am a fan of unagi (eel), so when a friend recommended Taiko Sushi I had to start with their unagi domburi (eel over sushi rice).

It is simply the best unagi domburi I have ever had in the DC area.

It was $30, but the portion size was generous and it came with several small sides such as Japanese pickles and seaweed salad. I'm glad I didn't buy an appetizer, or I wouldn't have been able to eat it all.“

“Saturday night 45 minutes before closing and restaurant was packed. First time trying and we thought it was pretty good pho - probably only second to Pho 75. The staff is very nice and cordial, and you can tell there are a lot of repeat/ familiar customers here.
Only downside is the price - very expensive for a bowl of pho.“

My Island Snapper was perfectly delicious-- colorfully put together with fresh mangoes, red onions and avocado, plus a generous portion of well seasoned snapper over a bed of white rice surrounded by a decadent lime sauce. For dessert, we shared the Flaming Pineapple Butter Cake. Again, just wow! The table side rum flambe was a great ending to our lunch. We enjoyed our Island Snapper so much that we ordered 2 more to take home for our dinner from our great server Logan.“
