“Let me tell you! This might be my go to every time I come home to Portsmouth now!
I wanted to check out the casino and grab something to eat so we stopped in Yard House for the Poke Nachos. It happened to be happy hour and the bartender let me sample beer since I'm not a beer drinker. I really appreciated them letting me try before I buy!
We were seated in a booth and since it was Happy Hour, we ordered the poke nachos and brussel sprouts. Both were pretty good! Our waitress was getting trained, I think her name was TT. She was great! I would have never known she was new but her trainer was also amazing. Shot out to them two! I then ordered the beef bowl and my fiance ordered the wings. I really enjoyed the beef bowl but thought it was missing something so I added a light orangish sauce they had. I wish I remembered the name but it was bomb on top of the steak bowl. My fiance ordered the pepper wings and lemon pepper wings. They were both BOMB. Cooked to perfection and delicious flavor. The place was clean and had great views of the tvs every where! Happy Hour was half off appetizers until 6pm and the happy hour food was great options. You could eat a full dinner off the appetizer menu!“

“Seems like the place changed names but their menu still showed this name, the food was pretty good but nothing too spectacular. I do highly recommend the pound cake, it was delicious, they were out of avocado for one of our burgers but the waitress was amazing and went above and beyond to make up for it. Just for that alone I recommend this place.“

We went to Happy Hour in the bar where appetizers and cocktails are half price!! We tried 4 of the appetizers. You HAVE to try the Wagyu sliders!!..great seafood appetizers and an excellent variety! As a small business owner myself, it means a lot when another business genuinely supports you. The owner books my photo booth for events and is always organized, communicative, and easy to work with. Everything runs smoothly, and you can tell she truly cares about creating a good experience, not just for customers, but for the vendors she brings in too.

It never feels transactional. It feels like real support.

On top of that, I actually enjoy hanging out there when I’m not working. The food is great, the wings are always solid, and the drinks are priced fairly which you don’t always find anymore. The overall vibe is just fun and welcoming.

“We couldn’t have imagined a better venue than The Harbor Club at Waterside for our wedding. We hosted our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception there, and it was truly perfect from start to finish. For anyone from Norfolk, there is something incredibly sentimental about Waterside, and The Harbor Club captures that feeling while also being absolutely stunning. The space itself is beautiful and unique for a non-traditional wedding location, and the large balcony overlooking the Elizabeth River offers breathtaking views that make the venue feel extra special.

The location in Downtown Norfolk truly cannot be beat, especially for out-of-town guests. We reserved hotel blocks at nearby hotels, and the majority of our guests were able to walk to the wedding, which made the entire day feel easy and relaxed. We also reserved the small lot beside Waterside for the afternoon and evening of our wedding, which we highly recommend. It created additional ease for local guests and removed any stress around parking.

We used the inside of The Harbor Club for both our ceremony and reception, with cocktail hour held outside on the balcony. With 110 guests, the space was the perfect size. Everything flowed naturally, and guests had easy access to restrooms that were closed to the public, which was a huge plus. During cocktail hour, we were lucky to experience an incredible sunset filled with pinks and purples, creating an unforgettable backdrop over the river and some truly stunning photos.

In addition to the location, the staff at The Harbor Club were a major highlight. Jenn, the Private Events Sales Manager, was our main point of contact and was absolutely wonderful to work with. From the beginning, she communicated clearly and made it easy to trust her and her team. She was incredibly familiar with our other vendors, which made the entire planning process feel seamless. Jenn always made us feel supported and heard and patiently answered our many questions, especially as we worked to narrow down all of the amazing menu options. She was also incredibly personable and a joy to work with.

We also worked with Dishon during our tasting and on the wedding day. He was calm, professional, and kept everything running smoothly behind the scenes. On the day of our wedding, we had the pleasure of interacting with the Harbor Club bartenders, servers, and head chef as well, and it is truly not an exaggeration to say that every single one of them made us and our guests feel special. They treated everyone with enthusiasm, respect, and kindness. We only wish we had written down everyone’s names so we could recognize them individually!

“Stayed here during a quick trip to Chesapeake. Had a good experience. Meets expectations on: 1. Courteous front desk and staff - the front desk folks were very welcoming and friendly. Little things like going into the kitchen and getting me some fresh coffee (when the coffee in the lobby had run out), customizing my breakfast per dietary restrictions etc. made me feel at home. 2. Cleanliness - this is a typical aloft property with clean rooms and basic amenities. The property is well maintained 3. Good breakfast options - there’s a small kitchen in the lobby that offers a decent breakfast selection. Makes a huge difference in a relatively small place like Chesapeake. Could’ve given a five star if the elevators were cleaner and if the hotel had the requested room type (I got 2 queen bed room instead of a king)“

“I have been coming here for a long time. You can tell the clientele and workers are authentic Mexicans or Hispanics that enjoy real Hispanic food. I usually get my food to go, but today I decided to eat in the restaurant. I always get the tacos Carne Asada because it is the best Carne Asada I’ve ever had and all of hampton roads and I love Mexican food so I’ve eaten out pretty much every my same place that I can think of. A regular customer even suggested a dish that is similar to empanadas, but even better the pastry they used was flaky and crispy. Their Carne Asada is always flavor just right and very tender that you can just bite right through it and it’s melting your mouth. Their tortillas in their chips are also homemade, and you can tell them. I feel like this place was under the radar for a very long time, but you have to check this out as soon as you can!“
