“I may have only been passing through between NY and NH, but this diner feels like home. We were welcomed like old friends that have been too busy to stop in. Not only was our waitress amazing, the owner was also quick to attend our needs. The Christmas Eve specials included a Monte Cristo, and it took me back to my childhood. The fresh maple syrup just took it over the top. If you're hoping for a corporate cookie cutter, look somewhere else. If you want grandma's home cooking, and the warmth and love it comes seasoned in: this is the place. Thanks again for the amazing service. ~RJ~”

“Dropped in for a quick bite to eat, ordered a grilled sourdough cheese & tomato sandwich. Cold tomato, lacked a quantity of cheese. However the grilled Rueden had plenty of filling & throughly enjoyable.”

“I have to drive over 80 miles each way to eat in the restaurant but it’s well worth it. I am English and travel to England usually about once a year to visit my family and of course I eat Haddock and chips a couple of times when I’m there and I must say that none of the chip shops there compare to Lil Britain because when you buy food in a British shop it has been sitting around for quite a while on display in a heated cabinet but in Lil Britain I always wait for the food to be cooked and I know it’s fresh out of the fryer. Everything my wife and I buy there is delicious and the staff are so very friendly.I have no doubt that we will be back there ASAP, when you are running a business here in the USA and you hear it mentioned and recommend on a British radio station by Mark Goodier you know it has to be good.Keep up the good work folks.”

“Door dashed Philly's twice now and the food was fantastic, especially the Philly Jawns, which is now one of my son's favorite foods. I tried the Broad Street Bully and it was so good. Bennington needed something new and different and Philly's was just the thing. I look forward to visiting the restaurant in person.”

“What an awesome market/deli/shop! Friends stumbled in here accidentally last week and had some sandwiches that they raved about....so we joined them and got a big takeout order. The place is immaculate and the sandwiches are fantastic. Friends highly recommend the London broil - customize the sandwich however you like it. Lovely, happy, smiley peeps behind the counter. The market has a bunch of sides, beverages and other goodies to grab and go.”

“We stopped in for breakfast as we were passing through the area. The servers and staff were very friendly and the place itself quaint right off main street. Sausage gravy was a little plain in my opinion, but the potatoes were very tasty. My wife had the short stack of blueberry pancakes and they were very good and fluffy. Being from NJ, I can't remember the last time I got a breakfast for $20 for one person and the whole bill was $20, so the value can't be beat. It was well worth the stop.”

“If you’re familiar with Chipotle or Moe’s at all, Avocado Pit is very similar in that they serve burritos or burrito bowls and other items that you build with employee assistance and questions. This location is inside an old historic building so I thought the atmosphere was pretty great and the food was delicious, albeit a bit pricey. Definitely a good lunch option if you’re in downtown Bennington.”

“Such a great spot with fantastic and friendly service and good food. Love that they have lots of gluten free options like the dough for the pizza and the bread substitutions. I got the steak frites and a small Caesar and both were delicious. The steak was cooked well and had that grill taste to it. The fries were truffle Parmesan and crispy and well flavored. The Caesar was a really unique garlicky one that I haven't had before. Our server Jennifer was an absolute gem as well! Would recommend this place.”

“I like this place. I enjoy the atmosphere and the food is solid. Order at the counter and food is typically brought out to you if you sit. The staff is pleasant and helpful. I dropped a star because the service takes longer than feels necessary. I understand staffing issues and a very small kitchen but it seems a little better time management might be a benefit. I don't want that to sound like a complaint as it's not enough to deter me from returning. Just maybe some constructive criticism.”

“Played the front nine on our way passing through town. Course was in nice shape for it being the end of the season. Great views of the area and wasn’t too busy. As you finish up the front nine, be prepared to play your ball from uphill or downhill lie as there isn’t a bit of even ground on these holes. Greens are pretty quick and makes for challenging putting. Overall, would play again but $58 for nine and a cart felt steep.”

“In downtown Bennington, there’s only really one reliable spot for good coffee in my opinion and that’s The Coffee Bar. The interior is clean with plenty of space and bathrooms, and their lattes are great and it’s even next to a bookstore. However, in my opinion their pastries are a bit lacking and often seem stale. They do have dog treats you can buy which is nice.”

“The scones are top notch and the shortbread melts in your mouth. And I told them through email that it was a gift asking them not to include a receipt in the package. Not only did they do that, but wrapped it up in tartan paper with a bow and included a nice card. The gift recipient was very impressed. I will order from them in the future.”

“The only place in Bennington (as of this writing!) to get an authentic Philly Cheesesteak! Highly recommended! Just like you can learn a lot about classical artists (DaVinci, Michelangelo, etc) when you study and appreciate their work, you can definitely tell how much of a passion Junior’s got for his craft, as each Philly Cheesesteak is an enjoyable work of art with every bite! I also highly recommend the jalapeño poppers and the fried cheese balls…and if you can’t decide between the two, ask him for a little bit of both and see what happens! You will absolutely love this place! ? wish i could give the best Philly Cheesesteaks in Bennington more than 5 stars! ?”

A friendly bartender and a lovely fellow drinker who asked me about my travels and suggested a few things I might need to see while I'm passing through New England.The beer? One of their delicious New England IPAs. It was cold and smooth and quite flavorful.Dinner? I reviewed the menu and while it all looked great - tacos, enchiladas, nachos and burritos - none of it would come even close to my keto diet. “I'm new to the Bennington area and was very happy to discover this place. As others here have mentioned: you wouldn't expect it from the outside. I had driven by it many times without realizing what a gem it is. Inside it might help to tone down the lighting (individual lights at each table always make a cozy setting!). Food was great: all vegetarian, rice and noodles. Flavorful Miso soup and hot green tea. I want to add a special shout-out to our waitress, Mariah. Culturally competent, attentive, and efficient.”

I absolutely adore the “stuffed” French toast and the angry hash and the shredded steak sandwich. They really know what they’re doing when it comes to breakfast!!”

“This place is awesome. I moved to Bennington last year and cannot believe how lucky I am to have this place here. My daughter and I are in here all the time. This place would hold it's own in my old Bronx neighborhood, which is the highest compliment I can give to the pizza. Everything I've ever ordered here has actually been great. “I love so many things about Bennington. What attracts me most is how close knit the community is. People know people. I walked into Bennington Pizza house with family and got to meet the family that runs this fine establishment. We ordered a custom pizza with Greek olives and broccoli. The crust was light and crisp. The vegatables were cooked but crunchy and the cheese melted in your mouth. Soooo, good. I highly recommend the place for the food and to talk town.”
