“Still the best bibimbap I've had. This is a staple stop when I'm working in the area. Also a treat for the fam when we make the drive from Burnaby. Great for sushi and their Korean menu. A definite must buy. Guaranteed bang for your buck too! Great owners!“

“I can't say enough good things about this place. This is as authentic, quality sushi with a remarkably positive and friendly attitude on the phone and in person. Look at my other reviews, I'm very critical of everything but these guys deserve every star I give them in this review.
5 stars.“

“Very happy to find this gem.
Fast friendly service for a family of 6. I ordered the single size spicy chirashi salad bowl, it was huge! Full of fresh sashimi. Family all enjoyed their meals as well: Reno and sockeye rolls, two ebi sunomono salads (at least 8 pieces of shrimp), karaage, California rolls for the kids, miso soup, chicken roll and fighting shrimp roll.
Next time we are in the area, we will go back.“

“The food was really good for the price I paid. The sashimi was very fresh and good decent cuts. I got the Hitori 4. The deep fried shrimp was the star of the show. The sushi was really flavorful and the rice was perfectly cooked. It was a nice sampler dish and its the perfert portion for lunch. I also ordered the ebi sunomono which was very refreshing, a bit too much vinegar taste for me since I like drinking the mixture the salad comes in. Overall such a great experience for my first time eating here.“

“I love this place, staff are great, portions are generous and the food is made with care. Quality is high, prices are very reasonable! The specials are your best bet but I got a dragon roll and a salmon avocado roll. It’s the best “bang for your buck” in the area by far.“

“Food was great but the best thing about this restaurant is their staff! I had left my engagement ring in the bathroom after washing my hands. I realized it was gone when I came home and called Ato sushi right away. The server confirmed that she found it in the bathroom. The level of honesty baffled, me and it really reflects the values of this business. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your honesty! I truly appreciate it and the food was great and fresh! You have the best team! We are so lucky to have a restaurant like this in our neighborhood“

“First time here. Really nice clean cosy place nestled in the corner of the strip mall. We tried the Salmon Sashimi which was outstandingly fresh. Also enjoyed some amazing Chicken karate and Mango Salmon rolls. Not to forget excellent service by the couple who run this place. And yes, they do take AMEX as well. Come back for sure ?“

“I usually like this Japanese restaurant, I have introduced this to my friends, students, family and friends. I tried their sashimi salad and boy am I disappointed. I ask the server if it’s a Japanese recipe or Korean recipe, it tasted and smelled like kimchi. I like kimchi but I’m in a Japanese restaurant so I am expecting a Japanese cuisine. The sashimi salad doesn’t taste good at all it even has a bitter taste on it. When I mentioned it to the server she didn’t say anything, I felt ignored. In spite of that I will still eat there ( but will never try again their sashimi salad, not recommended needs to change their dressing) because I love their chicken teriyaki and their deluxe tempura. I also find them not that expensive.“

“If you’re looking to enjoy real, top-notch Japanese cuisine, you absolutely have to visit Damiko Sushi in South Surrey. Every time I go, I’m blown away by the quality, freshness, and authentic flavours. This place is a hidden gem!
My personal favourite? The Damiko House Salad — it’s not just a salad, it’s a perfect meal. The balance of textures, flavours, and that incredible house dressing make it unforgettable. It’s refreshing, satisfying, and something I crave all the time.
Their miso soup is hands-down the best I’ve ever had. Deep, rich flavour with the perfect umami — it’s pure comfort in a bowl. But it doesn’t stop there… every dish I’ve tried is crafted with care, from sushi rolls to sashimi to their daily specials.
The staff are always welcoming, the atmosphere is cozy and clean, and the attention to detail is evident in everything they do. Whether you’re a sushi connoisseur or just discovering Japanese cuisine, Damiko Sushi is a must-visit.
Highly recommend — your taste buds will thank you!“

“Good food. Good service. Excellent Covid procedures in place. One of the safest feeling places I've eaten since the pandemic started.“
“For what it is (pre-made sushi), and for the price, this sushi is great. It can’t be compared to sushi from a dedicated restaurant made right before you ordered it, but here you can get 5 pieces of salmon nigiri, an entire cucumber roll, salmon/avocado roll and California roll all for $19. Obviously inspect the dates it was made and don’t buy it if it’s old - have only seen that once. Normally it’s all made recently and looks/tastes pretty good.“

“Just had lunch today and while the food was pretty good, I can’t say much for our server. It would appear that she has decided that everyone she waits on must pay her a tip. We had left the restaurant and walking to our car when she followed us outside and questioned about her service. What she was inquiring about was her tip that she felt she was entitled to! After informing her the tip was on the table she immediately turned around and left without offering a thank you. What the hell?“

“The sushi is the freshest you will get anywhere and their portions are generous while the price is very reasonable. We've been three times lately and it's always great. The restaurant is a hole-in-the-wall type, so not much they can do to make it glamourous, but it is so worthwhile.
Parking: Its at the edge of a mall so lots of parking, or if you live in Newton Village, very walkable.“

“We Had a wonderful dinner at Sushi California, Willowbrook Drive, Langley location
We ordered chicken karaage, agedashi tofu, miso soup, dynamite rolls, and ika karaage. Everything was delicious and fresh. The only dish that was a bit of a miss for us was the ika karaage it was quite chewy and may have been slightly over-fried.
What truly stood out was the exceptional service. Our servers, Sue and Daniel, were very attentive throughout the meal. Sue even noticed our concern with the ika karaage and kindly removed it from the bill, which really reflects their commitment to great customer service.
Highly recommend this spot for tasty Japanese food and warm, accommodating service.“

“I ordered omakase nigiri, mackerel and eel hako sushi, black cod saikyo yaki, and agedashi-tofu to takeout for our anniversary dinner. All of them are amazing! Especially, mackerel hako sushi was the best of all mackerel that I ate in Canada. Not only the fish, sushi rice was so good! Thanks to these great foods, we could spend the great anniversary! If you are looking for the real Japanese amazing sushi, I strongly recommend Yugafu!“

“Family style Japanese restaurant which reminded me the small bistros in Japan when we travelled there. Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere, if you are looking for something fancy, you can pass it, but if you like authentic family style food, it’s the right spot.
The sashimi is very fresh, the teriyaki series are well seasoned and served hot. The service is superb, all staff are kind and considerable. Will definitely come back again“

“I heard that this restaurant has the most delicious angler liver, and there are also many uncommon and rare fish and shellfish, so my friend and I drove here from Richmond to eat there.
The anglerfish liver is indeed perfect. On a 10-point scale, I would give it 12 points. It ranks first among the anglerfish livers I have ever eaten. Highly recommended!
The level of other dishes is relatively normal, and they are all OK. The only thing that feels a bit overturned is the cod roe. It was blanched and seared without any seasoning or sauce, which resulted in a bad taste when we took the first bite. No, I still felt it was a bit fishy. Later, I told the waiter that some customers didn’t like the seasoned food, so they didn’t season it anymore... I originally wanted to order some rare fish and shellfish, but they were all out of stock...
In fact, it can be seen from the menu and the overall atmosphere that this restaurant is not positioned as a conventional Japanese restaurant, but a coffee and light food restaurant, mainly serving sushi rolls or Japanese rice bowls, supplemented by a small amount of sashimi. As for sushi and other side dishes, there are still very few customers like us who only order sushi and fish. So the final bill was quite expensive. After all, we didn't order wine and the portion of the food was not big, so we were only eighty percent full.
Therefore, this restaurant recommends ordering the angler fish liver with your eyes closed. You can also consider ordering one or two rice bowls and sushi rolls. The other items are not really necessary. It would be better to go to a serious Japanese restaurant to eat.“

“Small place with some booths and open seating, friendly welcoming staff. Came in for lunch, wasn’t too busy and we sat right down and ordered some tea. We decided on our lunch, miso and some rolls. The miso was hot, delicious umami goodness in a bowl. The rolls came shortly after and didn’t disappoint. So fresh, so tasty and satisfying. Our attentive waitress brought more tea and checked in us during our meal. Spot on service.
We wouldn’t hesitate to return next time we are in surrey. Thank you for a delicious, friendly experience.“

“Yamako Sushi is a fantastic hole-in-the-wall spot for fresh and delicious sushi. The food is consistently good, making it a reliable choice for affordable and easy meals. While the service and ambiance are basic, the quality and freshness of the food more than make up for it. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a great sushi experience without breaking the bank!“

“Came in on a Sunday morning right when they opened at 1130 as a party of 8. This wasn't all the food we ordered, but at least 50% of it and I must say, the sushi was really good and tasted fresh, the tempura had a nice batter to it and the chicken yakisoba had a good balance of veggies and noodles.
The staff were very nice and the food came out within a decent amount of time.
The price for the lunch bentos ranged $21-30, and the choose your own items was $21 (3 items) - $24 (4 items) and the sushi combos were about $18-21, but the amount of food you get was A LOT! So I'd say for the amount and quality, it's worth the price tag.
I would definitely come here again.“
“The Honest Truth (Facts):- menu prices are reasonable and affordable;- cafe is clean inside and has a subtle hint of a sushi restaurant;- located steps outside the Langley hospital;- pay parking and no free parking, as it is on the hospital grounds;- accessible if disabled, via wheel chair, walkers, or crutches;- open weekdays 9am to 7pm, Saturday 11am to 3pm, holidays and Sundays closed;(Personal Experience)If you don't want to wait in the hospital just come to this little paradise. The food was average, I had mixed veggie sushi roll and an avacado roll, but it was fresh and healthy.Lots of options here so my opinion is very limited to those two options. The owner's are friendly and respectful.“

“Have been here a few times now. Still amazed at this great little spot that is tucked away at the end of a strip mall in Surrey... proof that great things do come in little packages. Cozy and comfortable, friendly and affable service and the food is fantastic. On the most recent visit we had great BC rolls, beautiful chirashi don and Dynamite combo, elegantly presented and very very good. Price is right too. Two happy thumbs up!“

“Rolled in at dinner time on a Saturday and had no problem getting seated right away. The food was expected to be good, based on report for one member of the party. I was not disappointed. We all had rolls of different sorts. My French Kiss roll was as good as I've had anywhere.
The only knock on the atmosphere in the place is the extremely loud heating/ventilation air noise. Makes it difficult to have a conversation without speaking abnormally loudly.
Lots of free parking close by. Prices seemed a bit high, but I've been saying that a lot lately, so maybe just my perception for the time.
I will be back.“

“The dining experience was fantastic! The food was delicious, with a spacious and comfortable environment that added to the enjoyment. “Went here for lunch one day with my son because he wanted ramen. Of course once he realized they served cold soba noodles he got that instead. He loves cold soba and really enjoyed it. I tried the tantan ramen and it was ok, but not great. Will try something else next time. Will certainly pay them another visit.“
